And yes, he is a central committee member, but he has always been in the same position, and given the lack of updates we hear about his doings, I would guess that his policies on the Central Committee have not changed very much despite his shifting allegiances. Given this, to say he had anything to do with instigating the Civil War is just silly, especially considering he was one of the first to join the United Front in an attempt to prevent Civil War in the 1860's.
I know you agree he shouldn't be punished, but some others may require convincing that his house arrest does not make sense, and that is what I am trying to offer.

He was never bad in the first place, he just had views different from the most vocal of the forum. Lenin is not going to form an Autocracy, Monarchy, or Dictatorship. What we have is a democracy, and it will remain so, minus the most adamant of naysayers. Why this debate exists in the first place is beyond me. We are not going to be enslaved, no matter how much the Anarchists would like the excuse. Lenin is simply a great leader who is not well liked by his opponents for fantasies that they invent.
