Don't you just love unhappy peasants?

stnylan Yeah, I love them ... when my enemy has them...

Specialist290 keep trying, its worth it, Germany has good potential :)

Duke of Wellington Thanks, such things happen if your army is bored ;)

I wasn't at home over the WE, and had much learning for the University to do. And although I'm not done with learning yet, I hope that I can post an update today or tomorrow.

Part thirteen

In the beginning of 1662 a man asked for an audiance with Empror Joachim II Hektor. He came from France and represented the small Protestant minority. In France the french war of Religion had errupted. The Huguenots, of reformed religion, had declared independend and fought the catholic french government. The Protestants were suppresed by both and had no one that defended them.

So they came to Germany, whose alliance united most of the Protestand world under themselves. Hektor saw his chance and quickly agreed to take up arms for the Protestand world. France had messed in german affairs, now it was time to return the favor.
Quickly more troops were raised and a plan was made how France could be defeated.

The northern Army was orderd to march directly to Paris. The southern Army was split into two parts should besiege the Cities of Savoy and Piemonte. As the southern part of France was cut of from the northern part not much resistance was expected. The newly raised troops were kept as reinforcements, should one army get in trouble. The City of Luxemburg, initially a key goal to conquer was left out of the Plan, as the german minority planed a revolt for themselve, and promised to join Germany later on.

The war began as planed. All goals were reached, even the rebells played their roll.
But the German allies did not like rebels, and the City of Luxemburg was besieged by Bohemian and Saxony forces.

Although France was supperior in technology and won many battles against Germany and it’s allies, the war continued very favorable for Germany. Only three months after the siege started in Luxemburg the city fell. Three more months later Paris was taken and plundered by german forces. New sieges were startet in Nivernais, Bourgogne, Champagne and Auvergne. The sieges in Piemonte and Savoy continued well. Only Tyrol was besieged by France.

With the fall of Paris many new maps were plundered, and the new world was finally discovered. (I finally found brittany ^^).

war156274sw.jpg

At once 4000 men were recruted to conquer these new lands from France. To get these men there without harm The relations with England were improved and millitary access was granted to Germany. When all was set, the whole german fleet set sail to the new world.

It took less than half a year, the german fleet was still in the middle of the Atlantik, till all new sieges from Germany were succesfull, and a seperate peace was offered to France. It had to surrender Luxemburg to Saxony and the Protestant minority was lifted into power. The peace was accepted and France was now a Protestant country.

Shortly after France made peace with the Huguenots, and therby ending the war of religion in France. Also one day after the war ended the Huguenots saw what the new dominat religion in Europe was and converted to Protestantism to.

Here you see the now Protestant Europe.

An aggresive move. Is Spain next?

Nobegow Thanks, I really needed that now after the first war :D

CSK Till now my goal was not converting whole Europe to Protestantism, I just wanted some protestant provinces I can conquer later on.IT is easier when France converts them (Also they are severly weakend now, losing 20% taxincome) About Huguenots, to be honest, I have no idea why they did this, they don't even have a protestant province oO

stnylan I don't now yet, I still need to keep a low bb for some more events, after this I'm free. But spain has to come earlier or later, and if it's only for the maps I need from them

Duke of Wellington It was hard indeed, as I need a low bb (2.0) for some more events, but hey, Saxony got Luxemburg, and I plan on annexing them earlyer or later ;)

Interesting update. Nice to see the spreading of the faith going on. I only have two questions:

1. Why on Earth are the Huguenots using a half-French half-English shield? I noticed you're using a graphics mod, so you might not know, but I thought I'd ask...

2. Who owns the two Protestant provs down in northern Spain?

Keep up the good work!

1.) good question, I would guess that they have the french part, because they are french, and the english part, because they were supported by the English, as they are reformed to.

2.) Thats France, I don't know when they took it, but it was well before I found Germany.

I hope the nextupdate comes tomorrow.

Part fourteen

A short update

After the war Hektor used the rest of his reign to do what he could do best, a peacfull expansion and strenghtening of Germany. The “war” with Brittany, who owned only one colony was ended right after the peace with France was signed.

peacebrittany2cr.jpg

At once Traders were send out to the few known places in northern Amerika, and a colony was founded in the Caribbean.

firstcolony3bp.jpg

In Germany Missionaries were send in every remaining province with a wrong religion majority.
Germany prsopered further, but again the nobles overstreched their rights by subjugating the peasants. But Hektor never had any sympathies for the nobles, so he naturally protected the peasants.

subjugatedpeasants5ly.jpg

The revolt in Bavaria was crushed easily, while the revolters in Pommern held out longer, in the end though, they were crushed. But even while the last Rebels were desperatly fighting for their lives the next noble demanded more money. There was no way that Hektor could or would accept such insolence.

Later the great refinery in Mainz burned down. But Hektor loved the wine that was produced in Mainz, so he orderd an immediate reconstruction of the refinery. And only two years later the refinery produced the finest wine in Germany again.
Though all this time the consolidation of Germany continued, and in December 1568 the Upper Saxon circle was created.

uppersaxoncircle5cj.jpg

It was no question that Meissen joined that circle, after all they were involved in the negotioations for the creation of the circle.

meissen2gh.jpg

The Netherlands, a german vassal, took the position of Meissen in the Protestant Alliance. The next threee years were basicly used to strenghten the position of german traders throughout the world. And making Germany one of the greatest economic powers in the world.
Hektor though had only 2 more years to do his job, until he got seriously ill and resigned the throne to his heir, “Johann III Georg der Ökonom”

newmonarch1fl.jpg

The first thing he did when he took over the office was to conclude the negotiations begunn by Hektor, and annexed Austria.

austriaannexed0yf.jpg

So what had Hektor achieved during his reign? He managed to bring Germany back to his feet again, after it was almost totaly destroyed during the First War of Religion. He doubled the income of the state. He managed decrease the internal tensions by converting most of the country to Protestantism. Also he defeated France in the Second War of Religion and forced them to accept the Protestant faith. You can say, he made Germany to the strongest power Europe.

A few interesting sidenotes. As you see in the last picture, Spain lost controll over all of its posseions in the netherlands. Flandern and Brabant defected to the Holland, nad Artoise to France. But they won Karellia from Denmark, and Portugal won the two norwegian Provinces in the far north.
Poland inheritted Lithuania, and therby formed the largest Protestant state in Europe, making any German expansion to the east very difficult. France is severly weakend, and lost controll of Navarre, which declared independent. The strongest Alliance though is still the German with Sweden, Netherlands Bohemia and Germany.

So, no more pesky Hapsburgs. Oh I know other stuff went on, but surely that is the most important thing ;)
