Chapter 21: Asgard

On March 24, 1967, a small rocket was launched from deep in Mittelafrika, signaling the beginning of the German space program, Project Asgard.

By 1968, all Middle Eastern nations except the Ottoman Empire had joined the tributary network. With uncontested control over all of Asia and most of Oceania and Africa, Puyi decided to expand the tributary network into the Americas and Europe.

In 1970, the war between the People's Republic and Cuba was still ongoing, with absolutely nothing being done by either side.
Australia was admitted to the tributary network in 1970, and on March 28, 1971, Mexico became the first nation in the Americas to join the network.

Note: We're now in real time! I've caught up to where I left off a couple months ago.

That is one enormous Brazil.

So does that mean no more spam of updates? I was wondering how you pumped them out so quickly. :D

That's why Brazil's a Great Power (also they had Germany helping them).
Updates will be less frequent, as I have to find time to play and organize the screenshots as well as come up with a good narrative. I do have a couple special events and event chains planned...

I approve of that Brazil.

So Germany's founded its own space program too, huh? Next thing you know, they and the Chinese start building bases on the moon staring each other down.

Can we get that culture overview now? :p

I just have a thing for culture in V2... Perhaps a general overview? Political/ Sphere/ Nationality/ POP density? Be interesting to see how some things have turned out.

I'll try to remember to take some screenshots the next time I play. About spheres, all I can say is that everybody in mainland Asia and Oceania (except for maybe New Zealand) is in my sphere.
Anybody know where I can compare literacy rates? I would like to see those statistics, as my literacy has been shooting up insanely fast (100% by the 1980s).

That would be in the ledger, Shangdi. Push the L key, and it should be on the second page (I'm using vanilla, but I figure HoD is more or less the same)

Chapter 22: There can only be one
2015-07-13_00044.jpg

On May 27, 1972, Greek separatists launched a massive attack against the Ottoman Empire. The entire Turkish government was wiped out when a nuclear warhead stolen from Germany was detonated in Topkapi Palace. Immediately, the Greeks managed to seize all Ottoman territory and declared the restoration of the Byzantine Empire, with a member of the House Paleologos crowned emperor.
On June 25, the Serbians launched an invasion of Macedonia against the Byzantines, calling in their allies in Rome, which was now a true monarchy. Rome vowed to destroy the Greek pretenders to the Empire, and Byzantium vowed to do the same to the fascist pretenders.
On August 3, a peace was finally signed between the People's Republic and Cuba: white peace.

On August 18, North America descended into chaos again.

2015-07-13_00057.jpg

On New Year's Eve, 1973, a formal alliance was reestablished between the Chinese and German Empires, with Kaiser Louis Ferdinand and the Xuantong Emperor meeting and shaking hands in Vienna.

Hopefully the Greeks will be good debtors and repay for the steal, unlike now :p

Man, the world is looking so ancient now. What's next, a Mongol empire?

There's a surprise coming up in the 1990s, if I can get my events to work properly. No Mongols though haha.

Is it the fall of the Soviet Union the German Empire?

Is it the fall of the Soviet Union the German Empire?
No, but I will try to work in an equivalent of perestroika for the Syndicalist nations (that's not the surprise).
I just formed an alliance with Germany again. I can't bring myself to backstab the Kaiser, especially when they're the only nation on Earth which can currently fight me and have a chance of winning.

Chapter 23: The Fall of an Empire

The Greeks secured an alliance with the Empire on February 4, 1973.
2015-07-20_00003.jpg

The Greeeks then called the Empire to war against the Italians, which Puyi approved of.
2015-07-20_00004.jpg
In one battle, the Italian navy was wiped out. The Germans intervened on behalf of the Empire
2015-07-20_00008.jpg
Then the Kaiser sent Puyi a phone call, saying that he wanted to completely annex Italy. Puyi promptly slammed the phone down, knowing that the Greeks wanted to do the same thing.
2015-07-20_00005.jpg

Finally, the Italians and Serbians sued for peace. And the Greeks were triumphant.

Spain was admitted to the tributary network on May 23. It soon reestablished its constitutional monarchy.
2015-07-20_00012.jpg

Meanwhile in America:
2015-07-20_00014.jpg

Then a crisis broke out in France.
2015-07-20_00022.jpg

Puyi ordered the Imperial army to prepare for war.
2015-07-20_00027.jpg

The two sides met in Geneva for peace talks. The Central Powers (and Canada and India) negotiated in vain against the reborn Entente (and the Confederacy and Brazil), which demanded the freedom of France. Every offer was shot down by either Puyi or the Kaiser via their foreign ministers. The talks were at a stalemate for half a year before the inevitable happened.
2015-07-20_00035.jpg

And so the Fifth Weltkrieg began. And France wasn't going to surrender immediately this time.

---

Next time: The War of the Worlds.

 Canada? On your side??? I would have thought of them supporti-- never mind, GB had a revolution.

Five World Wars. Wow.

It looks like the Byzantines have proven themselves to be the true successor state of Rome.

Time to pacify Gaul for the Byzantines. Can't even hold onto their own conquests.
