Compete chance NI is very good for early game trading especially if you are far from big trade hubs.
Cabinet for its -1 infamy reduction is essential for anyone that does late-game conquering.

I used to use National Bank all the time but I've started using it less. It slows your tech, has a terrible event attached to it, and I feel like it acts like a crutch.
The more you put on minting, the less you have on tech. And having NB without minting is quite useless.Slows tech? What are you talking about, it does not. It prevents inflation. And inflation slows tech.
