Care to explain why government officials should be free of corruption once they run the entire economy?
The Council of People's Commissariats will be composed purely of devout revolutionaries, who care little for the imaginary wealth generated by unrepressed capitalism.
It is in the interests of the government to ensure that the business leadership caste is not corrupt; embezzlement, fraud and malpractice all have negative effects on economic growth.
With this level of power they are even more susceptible for bribery and corruption.
In a system as you envision it the men that hold power would be left unchecked, giving them the opportunity to enrich themselves on the cost of the very same workers you say you are fighting for.
And what do we have now?
A league of insidious industrialists and corpulent capitalists, colluding with one another to maintain their oligopoly on the economy. If we truly live in a meritocratic society, why are the businesses and the corporations dominated by the upper classes? If we truly live in a meritocratic society, why are the wealthy yet inept able to utilise their affluence to gain senior managerial positions at the expense of the hard-working yet poor?
We are still living under the shadow of Feudalism - even if it has pulled up a flimsy veneer and restyled itself as "capitalism". In order to function, the Free Market System
requires the workers to be impoverished; otherwise, who would wash the cars of the bureacrats or open the door for the kleptocratic politicians?
Indeed, how can anyone claim that this system to be a meritocracy when it selects its Head of State purely on parentage and not ability?
What Germany needs is a free market combined with strictly enforced anty-trust and anti-corruption laws, a continuation and expansion of the Bismarkian Welfaresystem, as well as a government that is dedicated to the people and answers to them.
"Strictly enforced" of course meaning "formally implemented but unofficially ignored". As long as the upper classes continue to dominate the government, the latter will continue to score lucrative contracts for the former while simultaneously ignoring their shady deals and illicit activities.
