TLDR:

You can get something like this every turn:

After playing a lot of the game, predominately in Empire Mode, it is clear that there are a few things that are just WAAAAYYYYY overpowered. I posted a few of these, the psi-fish, certain operations (Battlefield Autopsies, Wasteland Scavengers, The Great Harvest, and Black Market Connections), but there is one more that is just insane. Happiness.

Take the last game that I just played on one-city, where I didn't make colonizers:

Empire mode at its most broken

But the happiness kicked in right when I conquered the first opponent. That was somewhere about turn 23 or 24. Here are the cities I had taken:

Not bad, and my home city was cranking out 98 happiness per turn. But what is crazy is what happened next. I finished researching Happiness III, and bought it outright in my main city. Take a look at what happened to the happiness output:

It doubled, up to +197 happiness / turn. Since happiness events cap at 100, I can probably have an event every turn for the rest of the game. And these events yield results:

That is a LOT. And what was funny was that it was everywhere. I mean, just take a look:

Here is why this was going off so fast; The Great Harvest feeds into your smallest city first, so it boosts from the bottom up. This means that if you queue up the happiness centers in those cities, they immediately get finished. So every little city soon became a very big city. I just queued up Defense I and II, then straight to Happiness I, II, and III. I then dropped the "Bread and Circuses" operation, and the cities just went nuts.

And this was WITHOUT Food Development II's Wellness Centers. Next time, this is all I am going to do. Plop down a Wellness Center, Bread and Circuses, and Happiness Facilities, and BOOM, instant Megalopolises. Seriously, I bet you could easily get 350+ research per event, 700 production, or 800 food, or whatever. There is absolutely nothing that can compare.

I mean, I bet if I had really really focused on this, with the setup I had, I could have had this type of setup in ten cities by turn 25. Maybe 15 cities by turn 30. That would be maybe 3 or 4 research events PER TURN, and with each at 350 research, that would be what... 1050-1400 research from happiness alone? You would have the entire research tree mapped out by what... turn 40? Not even?

Yeah guys, this is the snowball's snowball. I don't really see an option to this in this gameplay mode. Truly, happiness is king.

How weak. Come better if you have done following:
- play as syndicate (already doing it seems)
- build T3 racial building
- build the Happiness specialization on an agriculture exploration
- bind a Oathbound hero to said city. Give it the food specialization, with the second tier to reduce happiness treshold
- now compliment every other race (also works with insults)
- ...
- profit

That oathbound... that is a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. I will have to try them.

Note though, a few of the absurd bonuses I got:

Those were absolutely insane. And they just kept coming. I had like 10-12 of those EVERY TURN.

There were some times that my influence hit like 340. I could barely spend it. I even made a full stack of paragon hover thrones. That was hilarious. A whole stack of them, just cleaning out random landmarks I missed. Too bad they still SUCK compared to psi-fish siren.

And all this was between turn 20 and turn 40:

I shaved off a LOT of turns doing this. Got a little lucky that the psi-fish were on this map, but DAMN. That was super fast.

I did all of the above, and check out this one:

You can build absolutely anything in the game, twice, with that.

An empire where everyone spontaneously sheds dangerous amounts of cosmite, randomly figures out the secrets of the universe over breakfast, and has a new baby every other week, all because they're just so damn happy
