Venezuela

1840-1850 History

While Venezuela's people continued to prosper, an alliance with the United Kingdom was attempted twice, both times in failure.

VNZ2_ukrefuse41.jpg

This signaled to the people a large failure in the Conservative ruling party, to guarentee their own independence.

Meanwhile across the Atlantic the Egyptians suffered a great loss of terrtory to the Ottomans, while the United States started a war with Mexico. This was only the beginning of the turbulant times to come.

By 1844 Idealogical Thought was researched, leading way to Basic Chemistry, a prequset for Interchangeable Parts.
VNZ4_techIDthough.jpg

By 1845 Basic Chemistry was researching giving way to the finial tech needed for Experimental railroads. In addition another election was held, the Conservatives once again comming into power. With the help of Conservative Idealogical Thought inventions, plurality decreased by 25%. This would hopfully be the last time such measures were taken to abuse the electorial system.
VNZ5_45.jpg

Meanwhile numerous inventions gave way to new possibilities in industry and plantation production, overall increasing Venezuela's overall exports by at least two.
VNZ6_43inventions.jpg

1847 brought a war of greed in Europe.
VNZ11_prussia47.jpg

While back home Mechanized Minning was researched, giving way to Ad-Hoc Bill Printing.
VNZ12_tech47.jpg

By 1848 the government had about $10,000 saved up and began an ambitious (for Venezuela's size) program to promote capatalism. Over the course of three months The largest population in the National Capital of Caracas was converted into capatalists, and taxes were lowered for the rich to help them build. Some say, if you build it, they will come.
VNZ13_capi.jpg

Notice the research jump, tis a shame to abandon it.

The budget after the promotion of the Capatalists. Our small Nation was now in debt. Meanwhile research continued as Ad-Hoc was discovered, Clean Coal was undertaken. Hopfully the next option will be railroads. And our Capatalist quickly goes to work, yet there are no craftsmen for the factory... hmmm...

It was twords the end of 1848 that V returned to his home town. By December his book was a smash hit with the wealthy (for poor standards) farmers and labours of Venezuela. The people felt enlighteded, and with this new enlightenment they looked to a leader for their cause.

Excellent work so far. I really like the numerous screenshots you use and the manner in which you present them. My biggest peeve with AARs is when they simply put up a whole bunch of historical pictures and don't show us any of the in-game things. You are definately going in the opposite direction and I enjoy it throughly.

Let us see how strong V's ideas take hold.

War will come when incompetent parties do stupid things, and when we can afford it. War will also come when somthing of a "Socialist Unifcation movement" happens... when that will be I truly do not know.

Do you truly think my peace loving prosperous Venezuelaies want a war? Well By Jingo they should!

Venezuela

V the Lobbyist

1848 to 1851

V was a thinker, writer, and now through his works the leader of Venezuelaims everywhere. He also became a Lobbyist, while Lobbying V's beliefs and political ideals at this time in Venezuela was considered borderline criminal, he rallied his people non-the-less.

The Conservative government, in their infinate unwisdom decieded instead of simply buying Tobbacco needed for the creation of craftsmen to run their new factory, they would simply take it. General Monagas was commissioned for the Army of Two (haha "Army of One" get it), as were two new clipper transports, sending the country into slightly more debt. V used this mismanagment of funds by the Conservatives to gain support for the upcomming election. Meanwhile the government would do little, waiting for manpower renforcments to be adquit enough to strengethen it's army.

"Instead of spending money on unnessecary Defense and Army maintaince they should be spending it on us, with new social and political reforms!", Cried V to a large crowd in Caracas. "Together we can Lobby this corrupt government to make these reforms! For the people! For Venezuela!" Cheers errupted from the crowd.

Meanwhile the Conservatives ignored V and his movment, simply calling it a small voice of even smaller people. Indeed Venezuela was small by worldly standards, just scratching 1.1 million people, yet all of these small people believed in V's rehtoric.

By the end of 1849 the factory was complete and research into Experimental Railroads was started. The two Clipper Transports having been sent to scout for tobbacco found some just off the coast, in the Nation of Haiti defended only by a single irregular division. It was irresistable.
1850jan.jpg

While the elections started in April of 1850, the Army of Two (one inf one Cavalry) was soon able to be renforced to 75% strength, more than enough for the Army of Haiti. They continued to ignore the V, voice of the people, as the polls clearly showed they would win the forthcomming election.
1850electionstart.jpg

That was untill a strike threated by the entire workforce of Venezuela. This they knew, would hurt the nations income dearly, especially the Capatalists who would now be able to build railroads. They were ready to negoiate. However, negioations would last several months. In the meantime, War. An Amphibious landing was made on Santo Domingo. They could almost taste their sweet tobbacco.
war1hatimayjune50.jpg

By the time Santo Domingo was liberated in June 1850, concessions had been made, in exchange for Universal Sufferage Voting rights, and for V and his movement to shutup, the Conservatives demanded that all poor taxes must be raised heavily to fund the war effort, fund the reform and repay the nations debt they had incured.
reformjunejuly1850.jpg

August and September brought news of Victory in Haiti, followed by it's annexation, which the conservatives confused with winning the upcomming election. The people seemed not to want to pay for their poor mismanaged war, and money, and felt only entitled to voting rights. They grew more liberal.
augsep1950war2.jpg

In For the rest of the year the entire Conservative party went offshore to Haiti to meet its new citizens, and to overview their tobbacco production capibilities. Meanwhile the high taxes they left continued to upset the workers. With the introduction of Haiti into Venezuela exports rose by 4-5 from 19 to 23.
octnov1850.jpg

After 5 months of smoking their new precious tobbacco and making plans for their new States in Haiti, the Conservatives returned to Venuezla to find their offices taken over by liberals! They were no longer in power. They cried and smoked some more, and went on a long selusion to Haiti.

Meanwhile the new Liberal Government found a budget defecit crisis with their policies, and went to work correcting it. Railroads were finially disocvered and work began on Medicine, for the people of course.
jan1851.jpg

By Feburary 1851 the budget once again showed a surplus and the Liberals went to work in Haiti, first splitting 80,000 soliders unessecary at this time. Once the Split was complete they kept the largest pop, and turned the rest into tobbacco farmers.
feb51.jpg

Large portions of tobbacco farmers were also split increasing the output by nearly 6. The budget now showed a healthy surplus, while exports reached 29! The national population had almost doubled!
marchapril51.jpg

All was once again well and prosperious and peacefull in the Small Nation of Venezuela. V had freed the people of the bondage of misrepresentation and poor ruling party. He was declared a hero. Over the comming years V would continually tour around the country sharing deeper insight into his book, teaching and guiding the people twords a party that would truly bring Venezuela the utmost freedom from oppression. Idealogical thought, now a deadly weapon for V, would spread increasing plurality of the entire nation, allowing them to become more aware, more in desire of change, and looking twords V as their leader.

So V moves one step closer to power...

so, whos next on the list of nations to attack?

im sure the venezuelans would love to be drinking some columbian coffee while smoking (or maybe have some crack available should they get tired of just smoking tobacco)

Excellent work deltren.

I especially appreciate your visual detailing of the different aspects of gameplay. As a beginner this is very helpful in understanding the dynamics of the game.
Thanks for sharing this hard work and I'm looking forward to your next update(s).

Super. I like this one.

Nice going with Haity. Next Cuba. Or is there any other minor island-country in caribians???

Can you make a plan for your expantion. Like zoomed out Caribian region with your future planes for expantion.

Thanks for all your replies =)

MY plans for expansion will probably engage smaller nations with resources we need and ones which we have a claim on. This is unfourtunate too because columbia has been befriending us ;)

I always liked when others detailed their AAR's similar to the way I'm doing it so I try to replicate it.

In the updates to come I will try to show the difference between getting liberals in power (as you just saw with this update) and socialists. Notice too my Socialist party I added Jingoism rather than pacifism to help with roleplay expansionism, and Full Citzenship for immigrants... Hey it's all outlined in the book "V for Venezuela" how REAL Socialists should be. Meanwhile I havn't even tested how well capatalists do in revolutions, I'm kind of just going with the flow. I hope to have at least one update up later today.

Enjoy!

Venezuela

Events at the turn of the decade

In 1849 the United States of Central America found its self in dissarray, and failed to keep their union. While seeing a nation fall to such secularization saddened V, it also brought new opportunties in the future. Venezuela could be a guiding light for these fallen nation states of South Central America.
VNZ_1849_deathofcentralamerica.jpg

Meanwhile after the Venezuelan "Liberation Election" of 1850, as it was now known, the discord of a decentralized and ununified Europe found it's way into Venezuela. While this did not nessecarly came in time to help the elections in Venezuela, it did give a short lived glimps as to what sweet plurality tasted like. Soon, Venezuelaits everywhere would want more.

Two years before the liberal revolution, Columbia's relations with Venezuela gets bonned once again. When will these peddy insults cease between Columbia and Venezuela? One minute they spend money and diplomats on improving relations the next day they insult us! I fear for poor Columbia in the future, especially if they keep this up.

Updates on the way!

hasskugel : no.
(in other testish games where I played ahead they happened simeltanously, but not the actuall AAR)
