Stellaris: MegaCorp is the next DLC that we are very, very happy to announce today! Taking on the role of the CEO of a Megacorporation, you are in charge of galaxy-wide trade and commerce! MegaCorp is available for pre-order right now on the Paradox Store: https://pdxint.at/2PPFUXW

Here are some of the key features of Stellaris MegaCorp
  • Corporate Culture: CEOs of a MegaCorp can build Branch Offices on planets with which they have a trade agreement and take a portion of the planet’s Trade Value to their own network. Being the corporate powerhouse of the galaxy has its perks.
  • City World: With Ecumenopolis, increase the population density of your core worlds to truly epic proportions, eventually creating a planet-spanning megacity!
  • Caravaneer Fleets: Nomadic interstellar wheelers-and-dealers who stay aloof from galactic politics, and always have a bargain up their sleeve. Expect surprises when these master of trade and commerce wander through your space or when you visit their home systems.
  • More Megastructures: New options available from the Matter Decompressor, Mega-Art Installation or Strategic Coordination Center that expand the capabilities of your megalopolis.
  • Galactic Slave Market: Buy and sell labor on an industrial scale, set them free or keep them as livestock. The choice is for you and your empire alone!
  • VIP Status Comes with its Perks: Keep your economy competitive in a cutthroat galaxy with additional Ascension perks.

Prepare for a wall of text... Sorry :p

It isn't available for pre-order on Steam. It's just there to look at and drool over :(

If I recall, pre-ordering on Paradox includes a Steam code.

It is currently only available to pre-order on the store. Of course, this is all down to preference and if ease of payment is something you have issues with on our store then you can either give our Support team a quick ping, or wait for it to be available for pre-order on Steam in the near future :)

Who would have thought a pharmaceutical giant called MegaLax would end up supplying the Galaxy's one and only laxative after eliminating all other opposition.
"If there's butthurt you're gonna need MegaLax" :p

I cannot wait for this new content.

Um... Sure, why not!? I guess........? :p

My Immediate thoughts on the DLC/update:
  1. Holy shit this is so much stuff, incredibly excited
  2. Branches look cool but I hope in the future they allow multiple on one planet, that can compete against one another. Then we can wage economic wars to get rid of rivals because military confrontation is currently the only way to get them out.
  3. Caravaners are a little underwhelming. I love the idea of traveling fleets (their ships look awesome too) of traders. However their actual mechanics boil down to empire sized slot machine, very gimmicky, not impressed. Hope they get some interesting changes in the future.
  4. What if we were allowed to establish branches on space stations that contained trade posts? Allows construction of special buildings. Maybe mercenary fleets/sell ships?
  5. What if I want to create a Stalinist communist state? Everyone is equal, but its all equally shitty. The current civic/policy seems more like a nice idealistic socialist utopia. Maybe if we combine the civic with totalitarian ethics and government it changes what it does?
Whats everyone else's thoughts on the new content? Cheers

Excitement is real! Multiple Branch Offices should be possible across multiple MegaCorps, but the depth of this can continue to grow over time, obviously. Caravaneers will offer a little more than slot machine, but like independent traders in real life, they may not carry what you want necessarily. Still, the sense of pride and accomplishment should be the main takeaway from this feature. ;)

Of course, the dev team are always looking for more feedback and will always try to improve on what they've built over time and with more player contributions, so thanks for the ideas and comments so far!

If any Devs see this: How moddable are the tabs on planets? Could modders add in more tabs of stuff if they wanted? Would love to see hive minds establishing genesteeler cults on hive worlds :D

edit: Get ahead of everything with excitement but; when we get the federation/diplomacy update, if we're able to designate a 'federation capital', there could be a tab for it with unique buildings that benefits the owner.

There will be more information on what will be available for modding soon. If I'm not mistaken, there's going to be a Dev Diary dedicated to modding in the near future. When that will be I cannot say for certain (pretty sure it's not today, though) but it was planned to be before the launch of the DLC, because there's a bunch of heavy changes in it that I think a lot of people will be interested in. :) Watch this space.

Looks so good, I can't wait. I already have a 'megacorporation' but really just plays like any other empire. This is like it was tailor made. Will have to create Vault-Tec or some other Fallout reference empire on a tomb world surely.

The scariest thing was that for the past couple of months I've been seeing a lot of people playing corporations in multiplayer or in YouTube "story" videos and I thought people somehow knew what the next expansion was going to be. Always worrying when you're sitting on unannounced info :p

I've had my megacorp for ages, its probably just an idea that people want to play with, so this expansion makes it an actual reality with proper corporation like gameplay, guess I better start playing tall. I will now need to create a new empire to fill the gap. This is all of course after finally understanding the complexity of the whole planetary rework, that is after figuring out the new UI. Any date for steam pre-order time or is it just a check every day and hope?

No date for the Steam pre-order at the moment. I'll try and confirm this. Likely when it goes up for pre-order we'll post an announcement on Steam Community hub about it.

As for learning the new mechanics, this is something that the game team and I will be sitting down and, up until the release of the expansion, will try and put together some little guides about what's changed and how to play with Le Guin/MegaCorp
