Humiliated by the defeat at the hands of a non-western power a'la Russia in 1904-05 and facing massive dissent at home, British President Oswald Mosley was desperate for a quick solution to rally the people around him and prevent a complete breakdown of his regime. Still in possession of a considerable fleet and army, Mosley knew the perfect scapegoat, London's partner in the "Peace with Honor". However, when the declaration of war came this time, the Germans were ready for them and a massive sea battle with what remained of the Republican Navy. The results were predictable:
As for the Empire of the Sun, the Emperor and High Command had finally decided that it was time to purge Syndicalism from Asia once and for all, starting with a rather troublesome neighbor:
The Filipino defenses at Baguio were pathetic: Poorly armed, trained and equipped and with a mere one division manning the defenses, it was not long before the inevitable occurred before the combined might of the army and navy:
Meanwhile, on the southern island of Mindanao, there was an almost simultaneous landing of imperial forces, supported by Muslim partisans incensed at the red regime:
Even at this early stage, the regime in Manilla was absolutely terrified: The news of the Japanese approach and probable collapse of the red state led to massive protests and outright uprisings throughout the country. Desperate to end the war and free up troops to maintain public order, the reds tried to grant the empire a number of concessions in exchange for their regime remaining intact. The Foreign Office however, under direct orders from the Emperor, was hearing nothing of it.
After a mere two months of fighting, the situation for Manilla had become completely untenable, but for some reason, even under constant IJA bombardment and partisan attacks from their own people, continued to resist for a little more than a month and a half:
Despite some calls to integrate the islands a'la Korea, His Majesty realized it far easier to attempt to win Filipino hearts and minds with the added benefits of more research teams working towards the benefit of the Co-Prosperity Sphere as a whole:
