Hello, and welcome to Pure Madness. This forum game and its base was not created by me, but by the minds over at Alternate History dot Com.

Introduction
For those used to the other forum gams around here such as World in Revolution, you will have to rethink a bit if you are going to join this game. This game is not about number crunching or "winning", but about roleplaying and having fun.
Now, what you do as a player is guide your own country. You determine what it shall do. Unlike World in Revolutions, this forum game is not order-based, but more based on the interactions of the players. You update your own stats sheet with the recent happenings in your nation, but keep in mind to be reasonable and realistic. For example, recruiting 24 million men as Switzerland will lead to the consequences that would happen if you did actually try that. Switzerland would most likely collapse if it tried to do that.
The GM
Now, you might wonder what the Game Master does. Well, the GM controls the game and keeps it ordered, making sure to take note of unreasonable actions. The GM also ends turns and starts new ones. The GM also writes up the results of conflicts.
Warplans and Espionage
Conflicts are resolved by the players involved sending in their warplans. These should be short and concise so as to not be too much of a strain for the GM to read. You are allowed one warplan per conflict per turn. (though do keep in mind that this is by no means a hard limit)
You are allotted one Espionage order per turn. These can be used to meddle in someone else's country. These are to be sent in to the GM.
Turn End
When a turn comes to an end, there is an update with the results of the actions of the countries during the turn, as well as other miscellaneous happenings. You can increase your chances of getting good results here by doing actions which would logically be good, such as successfully reacquiring Outer Manchuria from Russia as China. Likewise, you can also decrease your chances of getting good results by doing detrimental actions, such as Russia selling Outer Manchuria to China.
The Scenario
Now we come to the reason that this forum game is called Pure Madness. The map has been filled in by countries taken from all over history and alternate history and adjusted to the technology level in 1836, the starting date. Do note that areas like China will have a similar technology level to what China would have in 1836. This is simply to simplify things.
Stats
Your stats are where you do things with your country. These are updated by the players for each new turn. Some research might be required to create the initial stats. Below is a mostly blank stats sheet, with some examples and information for each stat.

Hey, do you want an alliance?
Here is an example of a filled-in stats sheet:
Do note that you can do diplomacy and domestic events whenever, and these are not restricted to the stats. For example, you can initiate a military buildup in response to somebody else's military buildup, or you could crack down on rebels.
NOTE: Economy and Army/Navy quality can only be modified by the turn end updates.
Now, you might be wondering how you are supposed to fill in these stats. Well, you will just have to approximate from what sources are available in 1836, slightly taking into account the different history.
LAST NOTES: Play reasonably and realistic-ish
List of Countries
Major Powers
Republic of Jamtland – Good navy. Good army. Good economy. Small population. The population of Jamtland is well-educated and generally loyal to its state. Few internal troubles, but the navy and army are rather small due to the small population base.
United Kingdoms of France and Great Britain – Average navy. Average army. Good economy. Sizeable population. Internal troubles within the union does exist, and though the UK has fallen behind in recent years it is not too far away to recover yet.
Aragon-Occitania – Good navy. Average army. Good economy. Sizeable population. Although Aragon-Occitania is one of the most powerful countries around, it is quite fragile. It is composed of three (four, depending on how you look at it) distinct parts separated by mountains: Aragon, Occitania, and Italy. Do note that the Papal States divides Italy in two. This makes it quite fragile and sometimes hard to keep together against outside forces as the large amounts of fronts could prove a problem.
Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and the Azores – Superb navy. Small, but average army. Good economy. Sizeable population. Despite its size, most of Portugal-Brazil is not very well-populated, especially Brazil. Some friction also exists between Portugal and Brazil.
The Roman Empire – Outdated, but competent navy. Good army. Average economy. Sizeable population. The millenia old Roman Empire is still a power to be reckoned with, though it has fallen behind in economy and navy in recent years, and is not very industrialised. Also of note is the fact that the Holy Land and Cyrenaica are essentially colonies, being so vastly different from the Roman core, as well as recent (re-)conquests.
The German Empire – Horrible navy. Good army. Good economy. Medium population. Although small, the German Empire is definitely a power to be reckoned with, in land operations. Its heavily-industrialised core along with its well-drilled army are nothing to be scoffed at, despite its very bad fleet.
The Austrian Empire – Nonexistent navy. Average army. Average economy. Sizeable population. Large and once powerful, Austria has fallen behind the other powers of the world, and most of it is rather mediocre. Its large multi-ethnic population could also prove to be a problem.
The Prusso-Polish Commonwealth – Bad navy. Good army. Average economy. Sizeable population. Although not terribly powerful and wedged in between powerful countries, Prussia-Poland has managed to survive throughout the ages. Its division into two main parts is however something which could prove problematic in the future.
Kingdom of Lotharingia – Good navy. Average army. Good economy. Medium population. Lotharingia is much like Austria in that it is a large multi-ethnic empire, but in contrast to Austria its population is not nearly as divided or large, and Lotharingia is a respectable economic and naval power.
Lower Powers
Grand Duchy of Lithuania – Nonexistent navy. Large army. Average economy. Sizeable population.
Kievan Rus – Nonexistent navy. Average army. Average economy. Sizeable population.
DDR – Nonexistent navy. Average army. Average economy. Medium population.
Marinid Empire (Al-Andalus) – Bad navy. Average army. Average economy. Sizeable population.
Visigothic Hispania – Bad navy. Average army. Average economy. Small population.
Switzerland – No navy. Good army. Average economy. Small population. An aggressive and expansionistic Zwinglian power.
Pecheneg Khanate – Hopeless navy. Good army. Bad economy. Small population.
Komuch – Bad navy. Average army. Average economy. Medium population.
Don Kuban Union – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Small population.
Georgia – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Small population.
Oceania – Small navy. Small, but Average army. Bad economy. Medium population.
Vinland – Good navy. Good army. Average economy. Medium population.
Commune of New England – Average navy. Good army. Good economy. Small population. Maintains cordial relations with New Netherland.
Louisiana (Empire of America) – Average navy. Average army. Average economy. Medium population.
Empire of Wyoming – Bad navy. Good army. Bad economy. Small population. While Wyoming might be a bit of a paper tiger, the close cooperation between the settlers and the native tribes, as well as its size, does afford them excellent defence against outside powers.
Republic of Tejas – Bad navy. Good army. Average economy. Small population.
Mexico – Average navy. Average army. Average economy. Medium population.
United Provinces of Central America – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Small population.
Gran Colombia – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Medium population.
Peru-Bolivia Confederation – Average navy. Average army. Bad economy. Medium population.
La Plata – Average navy. Average army. Average economy. Medium population.
New Netherland – Good, but Small navy. Good, but Small army. Good economy. Tiny population. Maintains cordial relations with Commune of New England.
The Papal States - Average navy. Good army. Average economy. Small population.
Transitional Powers
Ottoman Caliphate – Bad navy. Good army. Average economy. Medium population.
Uncivilised Powers
Ayyubid Egypt – Bad navy. Average army. Average economy. Large population.
Timurid Empire – Bad navy. Average army. Average economy. Huge population. Although powerful, the Timurid Empire is the work of one conqueror, Timur. When Timur dies, it could prove quite troublesome to keep it together
Kingdom of Prester John – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Huge population.
Mongolia – No navy. Average army. Bad economy. Medium population.
Mughal Empire – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Enormous population.
Tibet – No navy. Average army. Bad economy. Medium population.
Song China – Average navy. Average army. Average economy. Enormous population.
Jurchen – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Small population
Empire of Korea – Good navy. Average army. Average economy. Medium population
Khmer Empire – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Large population
Burma – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Medium population
Dai Nam – Average navy. Average army. Bad economy. Small population
Ainu – Bad navy. Average army. Bad economy. Small population
Japanese Minors – Bad navy. Bad army. Bad economy. Small population
