Guanxi to be conquered also?
Or make them a puppet since they have quite a largish army...?

I do not have the troops to spare, I would also be at war with the rest of china and it would give the Japanese a chance to rebuild. I think I may deal with Japan first but I'm not sure when that will happen.

I could easily post more often but since I'm stuck running 1.3 and the sheer number of divisions on the map makes games laggy and I need to be able to sit down for 3 or more hours to play 4 months. I actually played this section last week but never got round to posting.

The Australian owned half of New Guinea is effectively mine, the division on the island next to it does not advance to the port because of supply issues halting it just before it reaches the next province.

Why not land along the entire Italian coastline and attack at the same time on all possible fronts?
Then cut the supply routes of their armies and possibly encircle some larger armies successfully?

How many men do you have on that theatre?
And the Italians?

I outnumber the Italians in total but I'm only breaking even against them. Thinking about it I do have a large number of divisions in Denmark/Northern Germany that could be brought in. Fortunately Italys manpower is empty and many divisions I'm coming against are around 70% strength and often 20-40% org. At the moment I'm rebuilding my airforce because a large number have been destroyed completely.

I have a toe hold in Australia still but forces earmarked for that invasion were sent to Italy when I DoW. I need to build more troops I think :D

August 23rd - October 9th

At the end of August my manpower reserves were depleted. After almost a year of heavy fighitng in Italy and Yugoslavia had taken it from almost 700 down to 0, with 30ish each month. Fortunately for me, Italy had been in this position far longer than me and it was showing.

Meanwhile, Portugal seemed to make moves to encircle me. Fortunately I have a port being built there (which is why I now remember landing there, t avoid another failed landing).

Lebrun sipped at his champagne slowly, watching the room of generals and ministers congratulate each other on their fine work of the past year. He'd found a corner to occasional spectate on everyones joy while looking out of a window as Paris also celebrated another victory. He couldn't focus on the party but instead questioned his mortality. He was 79, his dream was almost 15 years ago and he wondered whether or not he'd live to see it finished. He certainly had taken more land in square miles than Napoleon even before he started, with colonies in North Africa, Saigon and other places. But now surely he'd taken enough? Was it worth continuing the war in the Pacific? Revenge surely must be taken against Brazil but the number of soldiers who died fighting in Italy was far greater than before. Dissent among the population at more losses. There was probably not a single man aged over 33-34 that hadn't been in combat at some point in their lives.

He notice the whole room go quiet and everyone gather around him; he was so lost in thought. Gamelin cleared his throat, knocking Lebrun out of his thoughts. He raised his eyebrow and looked at each of their faces.
"Yes?"
"Monsieur Président, on behalf of the entire cabinet, military and a vast majority of France. Since you took office long ago in 1932, you have lead us into a new age where France is an unstoppable force and its military larger than ever. Territory in lands we never thought to conquer." He paused for dramatic effect. "We have unaminously voted that the office of Président is to be abolished..."
"What?!" Lebrun cried out in anger.
"Oh no its not like that sir!"
"You've abolished my office, this is insurection! Give me your pistol now! I will not have you put me on a show trial!"
"No, no, NO! You misunderstand sir!"
"Then explain yourself before begin purging!"
"Instead of being Président of our great country, we wish to instead give you the title of Empereur of France."

Lebrun blinked. Gulped his champagne and headed for the door. "Your Empereur has unfinished work to do."

This map is the wrong colour!

With supply issues usually resulting due to transport over seas something better was needed. In its brief freedom of almost 12 months, Austria was not to last long. The invasion had 15 divisions and they easily swept away the enemy who's army numbered a mere 4-5 divisions of poorly equiped soldiers.

You may remember a few posts ago I noted a Soviet marine division had landed in Lisbon, Portugal, and since then it has sat there doing nothing. Quite suddenly it started moving and at quite a fast pace.

2r4qykz.jpg

My marines in the south pacific are still moving virtually unopposed.

wbdgys.jpg

Despite having no treaty, American troops march through Poland to East Prussia and are constantly moving back and forth. Why? Because if one moves, the other side must move to counter. Thus leaving the entire thing in a constant state of movement it seems.

After bringing in arouund 20+ divisions to Australia after fighting the Italians, it was hoped that this would be easy. However, terrain, lack of supply and the entire Aussie army surrounding my toe hold, progress was not made. And eventually the attack was called off... twice.

2hn2sqx.jpg

w8xrnq.jpg

Apparantly I need a new tactic, especially since I still lack a large amount of manpower.

It should also be mentioned. Once Italy and Portugal had been dealt with, the Allied powers were no longer at war with the axis. Japan was still at war wtih Russia, China and their allies but it was effectively down to me to deal with them.

Fighting in Australia

March 20th - July 4th

With Portugal and Italy dealt with I have move around a large number of troops. In total at this time only 25 divisions have been sent to the south pacific theatre (some during this post) while others are slowly being relieved by garrisons or transfered to a staging post for the next planned campaign. The entirety of this post is fighitng in Australia, not much is happening in the way of troop build up but a large preperation in the building of infrastructure, ports, airbases and defensive structures across the world. The vast majority of structures are only improving whats already there but the infrastructure is developing large areas to allow increased supply efficency as well as travel time. And with that said...

After failing to take Kingaroy a few weeks earlier, a new tactic was chosen. Attacking with less troops. Silly me for forgetting about the stackin pentalty. This has positive effects.

rbz7l3.jpg

2v926pk.jpg

I begin two attacks aimed at only reducing the enemy manpower. Even tho they did little over all the battles did show that for every dead Frenchman, twelve Australians would die. Unfortunately for this area progress couldnt be made because of supply issues and the enitre Australian Army watching my every move.

Right now i'm left with a choice, I'm knocking on the doors of Canberra and as much as I would like to control a whole continent, I can't help but think about how many troops will get tied up for anti-partisan duty. So either I start training about 10-20 garrison divisions and puppet them, or I annex. Which is it?

but if you puppet then you wont have truly taken over the entire world... sorta

Rumours are filtering through that there has been a massive investment in a small plot of land on the East coast of Africa. Rumours say that two very minor ports are now the size of the major ports in Europe. The have been reported to be thriving with French Naval traffic with large amounts of jungle camoflage silk, uniforms and ammunition. Also large steel sheets have begun to be assembled into what seems like landing craft.

A recent leaked document of little consequence but with numerous badly drawn pictures of beach assualt tactics. Some theorise that these beaches by the shape of them are in fact plans for a new campaign! They also speculate the location.

6.1

If plan A doesn't work, Plan B, if Plan B doesn't work, then you're really bad at planning!

October 10th 1951 - February 25th 1952

I should really abolish elections seeing as Lebrun (although should have died in '51) is Empereur...

After doing some shuffling around and retrieving divisions from Australia, I now have some sort of plan... sort of. Virtually all my armoured, mechanised and motorised units are being sent back to Europe since my current plans mean they would suffer from terrain penalties constantly. There is going to be a lot of infantry warfare over the next few years.

Plan A
Retake Cayenne as a matter of pride, build the port up, build an airfield and flood in the marines and Paratroopers.

Result:

ziwyg1.jpg

Attack cancelled due to strong resisance.

ftzy4h.jpg

Plan B
Plan A but different target. Invade Sao Paulo since they will have less troops because the large presence in Cayenne was to supress rebels.

Result:

2gtq3hs.jpg

Just before my marines win the battle the invasion is interuppted... repeatedly.

2chnpe0.jpg

ao87d1.jpg

mjuvz4.jpg

Invasion called off as most of the transports were damaged and close to sinking.

Plan C
If I can't take a port, then I will build my own.

2gxmqhl.jpg

The first port will be finished on February 24th. AA, Infrastructure, airfield and even a radar site are ordered immediately. (In hindsight this would have been easier had I built a port ready to be deployed...)

ngsora.jpg

Five more marine divisions land further down the coast and begin establishing a perimeter.

Brazil counter attacks, at first a winable defence.

vmy6gj.jpg

Reinforcements were en route but I pull my division back because they would not reach in time. I rearrange my line on the west side so I have a third of my forces preventing the enemy from taking the port.

The first layer of fortification, airfield and port completed. Brazil is certainly tougher than I thought.

25th February - 4th June

Brazil is a tough place to fight in and suprisngly stronger than I thought. So I begin sending reinforcements, 3 Para Corps and 1 Infantry Corps are sent in.

I attempt to improve the situation for one area by invading with 2 marine divisions.

egz6ea.jpg

And then disaster, I wouldn't call this a victory if this was all done by 2 battleships!

27y7r83.jpg

It has completely wiped out my fleet leaving only an escort carrier which is returned to Marseilles to rebuild. It will take years as technology needs to be researched as to modernize the navy. Both marine divisions have also perished.

20z9qw2.jpg

Despite losing the marines, their efforts have vastly improved the situation.

With that over, work begins on destroying the encirlced force; which started out larger but is under intense bombing.
