I know there are bunch of similar threads, but I just couldn't help myself - I love the game, love building cities. However, I'm also super casual and mostly play with only vanilla assets + few mods to make life easier. But I thought I'd write down what my personal wish list would be - perhaps (however unlikely, I know) some dev working on the game might like some of my ideas?
General:
Road system:
This is what I would like to see changed the most. I find vanilla road building to be so cumbersome! Weird angles things snap at, amount of mods required to get anything decent looking, general complexity of managing the network.
The way I'd envision v2 could work is a bit like Roller Coaster Tycoon coaster builder, where you can select exactly what the next segment is. I'd base this on CSUR mod - which largely does what I have in mind, but is performance hog and somewhat unintuitive.
General:
- Allow precise control RCI zones and which segment of the road they attach to - so annoyed when roads aren't a grid and you git tiny / weird allotments that make no sense. Wish I had an option to select area and which road that particular RCI grid is attached to.
- Underground be divided into distinct layers and you can swap between them. Once layer selected building roads, metro / rail tunnels, etc. is same as on normal ground level. Instead of current gray lines and guess work - building below ground tunnels is so frustrating!

- Freely add lanes. Select road segment, click add lane, and it would add a lane to selected side of the road. Assign rules to given lane - bus only, cyclists only, parking bay, direction, etc. Game would also automatically add appropriate markings between lanes, but also have an option to mark my own (like Intersection marking mod does)
- Split lane, select segment and add a split between any chosen lanes.
- After split, lanes can go up onto a bridge or down into a tunnel (if at ground level). UI would let us select the angle, gradient etc. Again engine be smart enough to add standard markings.
- Opposite to above, join splits (remove median), merge lanes etc.
- During road build could select the maximum width, so that when adding lanes don't need to demolish houses. On small, wide roads we'd get longer drive ways and grass.
- Each road segments would have 2 additional layers.
- Lower layer can be used to install electricity cables, water pipes, maybe other types of piping / wiring. Similar to real life city roads.
- Upper layer can be used to add a second deck above the road. System would keep track where support pillars / beams go, but otherwise entirely free build. Stations, walkways, 2nd level roads, etc.
