Actually a question, if I started campaign in last beta, would it still be advised I start new one with official launch? Tried to find if there were any changes since but failed so far.

Mmm, just not going to bite.

@podcat @SteelVolt @Havebeard and everyone else, absolutely fantastic patch. Sooo many improvements in play! Just seeing the AI use it's navies wisely is wonderful. Great work and thank you!

I am glad to see that Paradox addressed seriously the concern of myself and some others that the infrastructure changes would unduly nerf the Soviet Union. It remains to be seen as to whether the number of slots in the states need to be readjusted towards the possibility of an additional industrial supercity in the Urals or not. IIRC there are only 2 or 3 states in that region that have a decent number of slots. Perhaps one or two more are needed, but we'll have to see.

I look forward to trying this out. It really looks like they are addressing the most outstanding issues. Really got to swing the nerf bat at those CAS though... and make the tactical bomber useful for something as well. Hopefully that will be addressed in the rumored air overhaul.

Keep at it! I can only recommend this game to my friends even more strongly with the direction things are going.

Paradrops still don't work.

EDIT: Just noticed naval invasion doesn't work either. Getting really upset right now.
EDIT2: Regarding the naval inavsion, that was my fault, works fine. Regarding airdrops: sometimes they still just don't start and I have to restart the game multiple times.

One thing, air ai seems way more competent (and maybe production also). Though a bit disturbing to see Japanese naval bombers camping at Northern France(probably redeployments could be something to change a bit in air expansion).
And unfortunately France still thinks that after losing with hundred divisions, it will liberate France just with 10 and after each defeat it goes right back into fight(with barely any org) in current game.

EDIT: After reloading the game, French cancelled the "invasion".

Can you elaborate a bit? You are aware you need to wait for plan to be ready for execution, and then execute it? And the air/naval supremacy requirements(hover over the army with the plan to see the issues).

Great work Team HoI :D. There's much goodness in this patch. Back in the olden days (pre CK2), I used to have as a rule of thumb that PDS games started to 'come together' with patch 1.3. HoI4, of course, launched stronger than any pre-CK2 game after it's first major expansion, let alone patch 1.3, and 1.3.3 in particular seems to have continued the trend of 'gameplay threshold-level' improvements at about the 1.3 mark :D.

There are some nice improvements in this one. For some the patch notes don't really do it justice. Notes say AI is better at deploying its fleets. What it neglected to say is that you can actually get a decent game in the Pacific now. :)

Aye - I think (I haven't been testing thoroughly) that the RN is responding better to my sub patrols in the Atlantic as well, and that sub vs naval unit (as opposed to escort) battles are working out much better. I still think there's a way to go with subs, but 1.3.3 has taken us further along the right path :).

This is with mods that are not marked out of date in the launcher. I unsubbed to everything, uninstalled, deleted all residuals, and did a total reinstall. It still crashes. There was a steam discussion for this but it has disappeared.

Edit: And now its back but offers nothing of substance considering I've gone further than the instructions say and it still doesn't work.
Hopefully you are not running Windows Vista.

I have had no troubles running the new version even with some mods.

@podcat
Was the exponential growth of CB cost&time intentionally made to prevent small countries to simultaniously attack number of other countries without being dragged into world war via guarantees?

GB always guarants countries after you had 1 war and start making cb for another. Earlier that could be avoided by preparing number of CBs and enacting them all at once. Now this is impossible due to exponential growth of CB cost&time which makes WC for small countries much more harder.

may i ask what is causing vista to not boot the up ?

This is what Podcat wrote in the beginning of this thread about Windows Vista:

Note: Players with Windows Vista will probably no longer be able to start the game starting with this update. HOI4 has never supported Vista, but it has somewhat worked before. Now it no longer does so I thought we should give a heads-up on that.

Hi folks. I've a fairly advanced game going on from prior to the patch, I'm perfectly happy to scrap it and start again if the 1.3.3 patch changes are significant to gameplay, particularly if they make the game better, or change challenges, be these resources, logistical or combat. Any thoughts?

I'm not so sure myself. I find that sending out subs early in the war is a quick way to get them slaughtered in short order, with almost no loss of the enemy's shipping. It's possible that the correct strategy is to wait until you've got Type II subs and the sub operations doctrine. But it would seem reasonable to suppose that subs ought to have some effectiveness even in the early days.

If its from the beta it should be low risk to continue the save

I suspect a lot of mods are not up to date yet
I run with mods that are changed to the current game status (1.3.3)
It just crashes right before the game starts,
(You pick your country, you see the world in front of you, press start, It loads for about 3 seconds, and it crashes)
Please do something about it,
I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Civ 5

Thx,
Sharcruiser

Does it crash if you don't use mods?
