I just try to do the same thing as, for example, in https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/Land_warfare

There is a separate template (called "WarfareNavbox"), which can be called in a single line

I can add a navbox for mechanics on page using standard "Navbox" template, but it takes more code space

Is this the way to do it, or do I need to create a separate template source?
Not sure what you mean by more "code space" -- though I can assume its what you have currently on your sandbox (?).

In essence, templates are used to place the same content on multiple pages via transclusion.
Since navboxes fall into that category then you'll need to create a template with the content from your sandbox and then call the template from whatever page you want.

Hope it helps. If you got more questions feel free to PM me or one of the other editors.

Yes, exactly.
What I meant by "code space" is that a simple template call consists of one line of code ( ), while a copy-paste version of the navbox code I have in my sandbox takes like 12-15 lines. So it just doesn't look pretty, if a lot of code is left on the actual page, because it makes it more difficult to edit later.

You need to create a new template page like this if that is what you mean.

Am I correct, that if I need to create a template called "MechanicsNavbox", I need to create page https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/Template:MechanicsNavbox ?
If this is the case, then when I try to do it, I get a message:

"There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs, but you do not have permission to create this page."

my poor eyes. Updating all these pages from 1.2 from the game files.

Updating leader traits.. and the in game leader traits is much larger than what it used to be.
And on page Political_Parties_and_Leaders#Trait :
What does Behavioral Trait? mean?

Now I know why no one has updated leader traits on the wiki.

@Dauth & @SolSys ,

The HOI4 wiki failing to upload a new graphic problem appears to be back again. The new graphic looked good in the preload thumbnail view, but the minute that the "Upload" button was pressed the "old" graphic now shows even though the file properties appear to be different.

Here is a screen shot of the intended new graphic -

The file looks correct for me. Try reloading the page without caching (Shift-F5) to force the browser to re-download the image.

Your suggestion worked. Thank you for the quick response.

Someone needs to fix the wording about the attache system. It needs to say that the sender receives experience EQUAL TO 20% rather than just saying 20% because that implies that the receiver only gets 80%.

I want to say thanks to everyone who entered and contributed to the contest. We managed to clear out two of the oldest categories and build a huge amount of new content onto the wiki.

Question to the active contributors. Should the following pages be merged into the National spirit page (https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/National_spirit)
- https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/MEFO_Bills

Should the following pages be added to the mechanics page list
- https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/London_Naval_Treaty
- https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/National_spirit
- https://hoi4.paradoxwikis.com/Missions

For the Missions/Operations page should they be folded into one of the other pages?

Within the Civil war page should we have specific sections for the historic Spanish Civil War and the Second Sino-Japanese War (plus any other historic civil wars implemented in the game)

In my opinion, the national spirit pages (containing strategies, guides etc.) like "Interservice rivalry" or "MEFO bills" should be merged into the country page they are associated with, while maintaining a brief description on the National spirit page. It just seems to me like too much specific information for a general topic like national spirit.

London Naval Treaty is a part of a more global concept, called National spirit, so National spirit can be considered a mechanic, while LNT - cannot. Basically, if we add LNT to the mechanics category, then we should add all similar instances (like MEFO, for example) too, which, again, seems like unnecessary duplication of info.

Missions and Operations are two different things, though Missions can be merged into Operatives page, which should contain info on traits, XP gain etc. Missions can be performed by a single Operative, so it seems natural to mention it there, granted there is not so much to say on the matter (like, types and missions and their effects... and that's it...).
Operations, on the other hand, require much larger investment in both economy and time, and have much more content in themselves.

If the country-specific info is already on the respective country page (like escalate the war for Japan and unprepared offensive for Spain) I think it is better not to, because again, this info is too specific for a generalized article.

It should be noted that decision countdowns are also called "missions".

To the topic raised by @Dauth:
Imho, LNT, MEFO and IR (and SinoJapaneseWar) should be merged with their respective countries main pages, if that does not violate style guidelines. That was the reason for me creating their own pages, as they are sort of in between guide/country strategy/mechanics and interact with several mechanics themselves.

Likewise, the SJW page should be merged into the civil war page, if the SCW gets a feature as well.

IMO national spirit should not go into the details of extended repercussions associated with some national spirits. It is a list-like page and hiding other content in between there makes it harder to find and update.
Putting them in the country pages make somewhat more sense. But even then "National spirit" is already nested two levels deep in Germany. Linking from there to the separate page seems cleaner to me than adding a lengthy guide 4 levels deep in the middle of a page that already touches on many different topics.
I don't have LaR, so I don't know about missions/operations. There's not much to say about national spirits mechanics-wise but technically they do qualify as a mechanic. The LNT is much more specific than everything else currently on the mechanics page and is itself based based on other mechanics.

You may consider renaming "Missions" to "Espionage missions" or "Spy missions" as there are other similar pages such as "Naval missions" and "Air missions". Otherwise, I basically agree with the other wiki contributors.
