Ahem,
sorry for reviving this AAR.

But this was (IMO) just too funny to miss up on ...
I think in the end Kristof did what was suggested at the very beginning and finally painted all the provinces Greek - Blue
:-D

I wouldn't be surprised. If not, I'd like to know how he encircled enough of the Japanese/Chinese and later Soviet forces to win. TAC's take time to build, and he didn't sound like he was waiting for them to attack the Japanese sphere. Half of what he did might well have been nothing more than good luck with a simple strategy. :p

I'm prepared to give Kristof73 the benefit of the doubt.

I've read quite a few of his posts over in the EU3 forum and he can be very smart at using game mechanics to achieve his ends. His advice on swapping NIs and nation size was an eyeopener for me!

That said at a two year dry spell, give the guy a break ;)

It's not that I doubt him. I just want to know how precisely he managed to encircle pieces of such a large force without them breaking through or overrunning him. I'm used to playing major dictatorships, so encirclement to me is cutting off a quarter or so of the Soviet Red Army in the Pripyat Marshes. :p

But to use such a small army against armies so much larger... It really is quite a feat. And so I wonder where he did this precisely against the Asian forces. I mean, if he waited and built up a number of troops, I can see it a little more easily, but exactly as it was with such a small force...

AAR has been ended at the day before war with Japan. At this time my force was really small and I had no chances with SOV.

In first months my 45 infantry encircled and destroyed almost 100 Japs div. I haven't any TACs in this time. Year after year with great help from my new airforce I pushed them to Korea. Finally after 5 years of fighting I enjoyed total victory on the continent. After taking China my manpower growth (thanks for proper minister too) was enough to build huge armies. I builded IC in great numbers from the game start, so now I could build a lot of TACs with escorts. I didn't use any fighters and interceptors ...

India and Pakistan was liberated by English and I taken them at once :D.

I relocated my units to borders with Allies from France, Egipt to Asia. In this time my air flotilla decimated almost all Japanease fleet. War with Allies was short and successfull. France, Irak, Nepal, Bhutan etc. collapsed easily.

Little forces with huge Air support was conqering Africa. On Russian border in Europe I builded 10 level forts to have defensive line. Across my borders in Asia I build a lot of airfields to my sky aces ;)

When I was ready to Barbarossa, my armies was less then 2/3 of Russians. I started huge offensive from Far East, but the main strike was in Kaukasus. I don't even bother with encircling. 60 TACs did well their job. It was slaughter. Call me cheater - but I was in hurry.

In meantime all IC was busy by huge sea fleet building. So right after fall of Moscow, I did Sea Lion (attack on England), and next was strike on US by Canada. Game time was over when fighting the last free countries in South America. Japan and Australia was taken long ago.

So I was only outnumbered in first wars (Romania, Italy) and Japan. Thanks for interesting in my already dead AAR :)

BTW. It was not my first game with going to Asia by European minor. The first was Turkey, which ended in the last days of game time by successful landing in US after taking Euro-Asia.

Of course I'm interested. It was quite an achievement. :) Makes me wonder if I'm skilled enough to pull it off. :p I think I would have to manage factory builds better. Even so, I think it would take a fair bit of good luck for the AI to end up fighting each other just right for it to be a success. I might try it after my German CORE game, which should be challenge enough in itself.

Thanks for the advice and this astounding AAR. :) *bows*
