Better spawns and paint scheme saving, make the game substantially better. I am also using one of the HUD mods. It's surprising how much a few little tweaks improve the game.

Won´t make a new thread since these are for BT related stuff mostly, but there is a rather good new mech game called Daemon X Machina. For people who like mecha anime like Gundam it is awesome. You can use many kinds of weapons, from assault rifles and RPG launchers to beam weapons... and swords, with sword clashes included
I recommend it if you thought MW5 was too slow paced. It´s an action game with light sim elements, like too much weight making you sluggish. So you have some tough choices on equipment in some missions.
MW5 has the unfortunate distinction to be the only BattleTech game that I've never finished. Going back to Crescent Hawks, mind you.
It isn't that it's terrible, its that it is just not that memorable or fun for me. Thank Heavens for HBS BattleTech, or I'd be without an outlet for my mech addiction.
I had good success using a high-DPS Mech myself and high-Armor Mechs for my Lancemates. Then I would rotate them through Point-man duty to trigger AI “pods” while I and their fellows crushed the now unhinged AI Mechs. Then I would put the Damaged Mech toward the Rear and put on point the best armored of the remaining Mechs.I almost quitted by the end. Those spawns after completing the objective...
But i pushed to the end with the tips given here. The AI Lancemates are morons. Equip their mechs almost only with long range weaponry. This way the actuallt help and don´t get shot too much. You must be the tank and DPS for the lance though... I used max armor and dual AC20.
I'm guessing you are referring to Phelan Wolf's trials (with Natasha Kerensky on his side!) from the novel 'Lethal heritage', where it was considered almost unique for a warrior (the Black widow, in this case) to kill 4 enemies in single battle.... I had some ridiculous amount of mech kills at the end. I just wish the game had some other way to scale other than just throw more and more waves of larger mechs all at the same time. Once the missions get above 90 having 30-40 or more kills is pretty normal. I just killed 10 mechs and 30 tanks. When you consider a clan trial of position or when Kia Allard liao tested out in the initial clan invasion book which name elludes me at the moment. Seems a little excessive.
