Yeah, that's really annoying. On one hand, they give you a bloated leopard and even add more storage to it (probably by attaching a net on the outside, that's why it's "cold" storage), then they limit the size of the net :(

I have not played MW5 for a while, but I think I'll take a fresh start today, with some mods maybe.

Ok now I got all flavours of 100 ton mechs. Which one is your favorite? Atlas? KC? Annihilator?

For me the King Crab is great but its central torso is VERY vulnerable. Came close to dying on the thing lol.

Also AC 20 is much better than the gauss rifle IMO. Better DPS, only thing gauss is better is with range. Then again maybe it´s just me liking brawlers more.

Only got a pair of Atlas so far. I like the Gauss because its a headshot machine. Also low heat makes it great for the AI. My limited testing of the king crab in instant action is that its *THE* weakest AI vs AI. if it doesn't get headshot, it gets cored. Coupled with the normal issues of primary weapons in the arm means expensive to run....

Got the hero battlemaster for myself and so far its a brutal machine if you don't mind feeding it PPC every meaningful mission.

Hero Awesome is the best assault. Good mix of weapons, heavy armor, and 80 tons running around at 82kph. Ridiculous. Although I prefer my lights and mediums, personally. I'd rather give myself brain surgery than trundle around in an Annihilator at the speed of nothing.

Which is just as it should be.

BATTLETECH’s “Speed on a Curve” where there are no 8/12’s and there are no 2/3’s, instead those are “Curved toward the Mean” with a 7/11 and 3/5 respectively.

Being too “lenient” and forgiving of well-earned Maluses (like a lack of Speed) is a design decision of HBS’s that while I understand it, I do not agree with.

But even then BATTLETECH is in my opinion the best BattleTech game ever... bar none, even the tabletop game.

What is the problem with arm mounted weapons? Also what is your 400 tonnage limit lance?

As for AI vs AI yes, lasers are better choices apparently. Is that correct?

The PB? It's just 68.8kph. I prefer the 9M, just slightly slower with 64.8kph, but with both Mechs having XL engines, that's 4.5tons of extra loadout. I also think the hardpoints are better, at least for my playstyle. The one problem is that it starts to show up late in the game.

Ok now I got all flavours of 100 ton mechs. Which one is your favorite? Atlas? KC? Annihilator?

The AS7-K is my favorite of the 100tonners. Move 3, XL engine without the "negative side(torso)effects", 2 large energy, 1 large ballistic and 1 large missile hardpoint, AMS... and 2 med energy to round it up. Lots of potential firepower, can be build for long range or mixed range, I love those. At least for my AI pilots. For myself, I prefer the hero KGC with 4 large energy hardpoints. Put on some decent large lasers, send your pawns in to soak up damage, stay back and headshot everything.
You have to take care though, if you get shot at too much, you either end up getting cored or losing your weapons. Or both. The CT hitbox seems to be really, really big. So are the arms. The Atlas seems to be much sturdier.

But I still prefer my trusted Mauler-1R over all the 100tonners. 2ERLLs, 2 LRM20-ST with artemis, 4 MGs. You can snipe aircrafts from beyond sensor range or cut out cockpits, also spam missiles at everything. Having 4 MGs adds plenty of heat-neutral firepower for the occasional brawl.

But AMS feels a little pointless. LRM AI is actually quite rare.

Yeah, it is rare. But LRM carriers happen. And it's a Mech I mostly use for the AI anyway, so every but of damage reduction helps. I'm not really sure if it's worth it, but on the other hand, it's just 1 ton, 1/2 for the AMS and 1/2 for the ammo. By the time you get the AS7-K, you are swimming in DHS, and tonnage really isn't the limiting factor with DHS and XL engine. Hardpoints and crits are.

I bashed the game harshly earlier in a post here...

Perhaps I was too severe...

I decided to really get serious and played around with the Nvidia settings for about a solid hour playing around with it and tweaking the ini files. Never had to work that hard to get a game to look acceptable, but now I got it so it actually looks pretty damn good. At first I was just so off-put by the bizarre grainy blurred visuals, it really soured the game in my eyes.

After hitting up the Nexus and downloading a bunch of mods, I started a new game.

Lo and behold, I'm actually having fun! Now I'm not mad I bought this thing!

The game still feels a bit half-baked but the actual meat and potatoes, the mech combat is fun. Pokemech and find the super weapons hunt is fun as always.

Praise Blake for the modders who as always, do a wonderful and FREE job to fix and tweak modern games to what they should have been at release!

If we could just get-

-lance mates that don't destroy the holy hell out of the thing you are defending, and that use their long range weaponry (they actually are somewhat competent at fighting)
-combat needs some tweaks to damage and balance and some other issues- example- make it so not every battle turns into a close quarters brawl instantly
-New modern character models for Ryana,Fahad, Spears and the rando guards on your ship (maybe even some other things to do on the ship besides look at the mech?)
- Some Battletech flashpoint style side missions (i.e. we need some good writing to give some interest/variety to the missions otherwise it feels like the same mission over and over)
-more mission types
-some more varied and better music
-punchier sound effects
-need some more map variety, need weather , need biome to effect the HEAT for gods sake!

-SOLARIS!

I hope they patch some of this for free. Please don't force the consumer to have to buy the DLC to get this game up to par

I had an issue with blurred textures once myself. Never could figure out what was going on with it, but it resolved itself after an hour or so of messing with it. Maybe just a wierd bug or driver issue.

Glad you're having fun now! Definitely check out the mods they're putting out...especially the enhanced HUD and now there's an MW3 style enhanced zoom that I can't wait to try, Improved Lasers and Better Spawns(though Spawns does make the game, especially Warzones, quite a bit easier because most enemies spawn further away.)

I'm on my 2nd playthrough with a New Game+ as a speed run. I'm in the final bout of missions at 3017, haha. Also definitely check out coop play, they have an awesome discord for finding players to drop with cooperatively.

My issue was finding which type of AA looked best, then I had to play around with the advanced settings in the nvidia control panel. Specifically the sharpening effect was way too much in game, shut that off , then added a dash of it back in Nvidia, that and using FXAA I believe resulted in a much better look.

Yes, the enhanced hud, better spawns, improved laser visuals and higher weapon velocities are essentials in my book. I also like the Stronger arms mod because I was sick of them constantly getting blown off on my inept lancemates. Also a big fan of the increased load out options mod that lets you customize the mechs quite a bit more.

There are a bunch of other minor quality of life little updates that help a lot as well such as the paint theme saver, the better descriptions mod, market place description viewer, one that goes directly to the detailed mech view, etc.

Uh, I need to try some of these mods. The better spawns sound like a must-have, and enhanced zoom could really give long range weapons an edge.

Atm i'm just running mods removing tonnage limit (not really that necessary, just for toying around) and size limitations on hardpoints
