Adsız.pngWhen I run the game, Europa Universalis 4 title appears on the screen. But then it gives a black screen and after waiting for a while, a pink/black screen comes up. And even if my cursor (hand)is visible, the screen is still black/pink. But in the background, the soundtrack can still be heard. Even if I keep the game open for hours, it doesn't work. And I know my system requirements are sufficient. I've checked many times.

My System Information:
4gb ram
Nvidia GT330M
60hz monitor
4gb video card ram
There is a screenshot and a video:

Has the game ever run OK on this computer? Or never?

IF NEVER:
Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

(run dxsetup.exe after extracting from this download)

Add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Also if you have installed RivaTuner, RadeonPro, or a gaming VPN app called Evolve, or the MSI Gaming App, or Duet, disable it as it clashes with this game.

IF IT USED TO WORK:
Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-EU4
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam EU4 or Documents EU4 locations, before installing again.

Also if you have installed RivaTuner, RadeonPro, or a gaming VPN app called Evolve, or the MSI Gaming App, or Duet, disable it as it clashes with this game.

IF NEITHER OF THOSE HELP:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

Thanks, but videos of the problem don't add much to the diagnosis of why this is happening to you. Please follow my steps laid out above, thanks.

Hello, I'm having the same issue and seen the same solution that hasn't worked. I did your last step and I've attached the files you requested. I've the issue for quite some time now, and Perhaps you can help me as well?

In future please start your own new thread, rather than re-opening an old one. Thanks.

That dxdiag log shows problems with nVidia:

- uninstall that nVidia driver and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install August 2022 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
- reboot again

Attach here new copies of all those files if that does not help.

indeed didn't work, maybe I did it wrong but here's the new files

You are still getting crashes in nVidia:
Windows Error Reporting:
+++ WER0 +++:
Fault bucket 1184614697905904550, type 5
Event Name: MoAppCrash
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: NVIDIACorp.NVIDIAControlPanel_8.1.962.0_x64__56jybvy8sckqj
P2: praid:NVIDIACorp.NVIDIAControlPanel
P3: 8.1.940.0
P4: 61b5030e
P5: nvgames.dll
And that error.log still shows graphics errors.

Are you confident you went through that clean reinstall successfully? If so, I'm afraid you may well have an nVidia or other hardware fault here.

How would I go about deleting more then just the driver, as I can't seem to uninstaul the rest of the NVidia folder

In the Windows Control Panel, enter nVidia in its search box and uninstall everything that finds. I get a total of 6 items of theirs there, for instance.

I've done it several times over, and it still does work & I think Nvidia or EU4 might have corrupted, I don't see it on paradox's list on site so maybe it's just screwed. My last shot was resetting the whole computer and going from there. Sorry for all the trouble. Sucks cause it worked before

It's a long shot but what if you make a new user in Windows and log into it with that? Any different?

Hard to see how Steam could cause nVidia apps to crash ... !

Do make sure GeForce Experience is unloaded before you start the game.

If that doesn't help we might try a clean reinstall of Steam and game.
