While the PLC is clearly the greatest power now, I don't see how anyone can take down the Indian alliance now. Timmy seems to be collapsing internally, and the aztecs are still a second rate power.

The aztects might be a second-rate power, but they have first-rate opportunities: China, Japan and Indonesia are all open to them.

Cool session, it's fun trying to maintain peace in Europe with all those mad people.
As the progress to the East continues, Hungarian scholars have started studying ancient texts to prepare for the next steps in the mad Emperor plans.

I'm genuinely kind of annoyed about India. In the third session, two people were dropped into India, with nobody closer to them than Yemen, and they weren't even dropped into small countries, but Jaunpur and Vijayanagar! They were able to grow to 300 development without touching another player, which meant their VCs were on AI, so obviously they're dominating on the score charts and Great Power rankings; they were set up from the get-go to blob without any sort of real threat!

It just doesn't seem fair to everyone who fought hard to survive in Europe that dying in Europe lets you respawn in a better location where you can compete without any threats. I remember a few dev clashes ago, players that were respawned suffered a point penalty; why isn't that being applied in this one?

While they haven't had any threat for a while, I believe hungary is going to be expanding towards asia so they might potentially ally with timurids and attack indians, since they aim to be a celestial emperor. Also kaiser johan will want to attack the indians as well to secure the East Indies, so while they have been dominate hopefully we'll be seeing more entertaining wars there.
I do agree that a point penalty should probably be applied, though it might seem unfair in some cases, such as when Kaiser Johan was ganged up on as florence.

I was actually thinking at the start that dying to Kaiser Johan and respawning was probably the easiest way to actually win, score-wise, but I'd rather get no trophy and actually have fun fighting in the European thunderdome than win just by sitting on the edge of the world. Europe is an insane mess, it's great (if a bit stressful sometimes).

Would not be surprised at all if no European country gets a trophy in the end.

That might be the case, but still the original sentiment applies imo. It really is unfair, not only were the players in India able to grow a ton pretty much unimpeeded, which grants good points of its own, but more importantly they were able to grab victory cards super easily from AI. In Europe its far more difficult, since you get victory cards mostly on players and even on your longtime allies. So players who managed to survive in Europe eventually get boxed in, firstly by limited expansion, and secondly by bad VC spawns. I think that if a player gets knocked out and gets relocated, there should be a 50% reduction of the final score they achieve with their new nation. Might seem harsh, but then again, they shouldnt have been knocked out.

Imagine being Milan, returning from the brink of destruction (for the second time) thanks to the help of the noble Winged Hussites, only to go down into Egypt and for this to happen-

Yeah it seems really difficult for european nations to win, the commonwealth, hungary and prussia seem really strong, but with the amount of nations in Europe I doubt they'll be able to expand much without getting coalitioned. Out of interest, in future dev clashes would you support more nations being located outside of Europe so relocated nations have more trouble expanding and Europe is a bit less messy, or would you rather something else to balance dev clashes like a score reduction for relocations?

Avoiding major countries being played by better players is backfiring. Supposed to be major countries suck and this is leading to a more messy situation overall. Eastern Europe having no human player was an obvious mistake and players looted there freely as expected. Instead of throwing eliminated players to irrelevant places they should've been placed into Eastern Europe majors maybe. They were not in a strong situation at the AI hands against humans so that wouldn't be an unfair advantage, furthermore it would help nations like Ottos, Muscovy and Poland to be able to fight back against humans with some human help. Instead Johan went on and placed players to India+Timmy, now they will -mostly Timmy- push from there to the same area that was left empty player-wise and they will meet up with Western Europeans there i guess :) This is ridiculous. It's sad because it could've been so much better. Anyway, it's too late now for all these.

But most importantly, i hate when players selling or exchanging lands between them so casually like that. I'm not expecting you guys to fully role-play like in the Grandest LAN, but at least show your game some respect will ya? :/ Those are your lands that's been taken with blood of your people and should only be given through blood again. There should be some rules to prevent that nonsense.

I certainly agree that Europe seems more fun. But, like with all game design, I feel it's important to set up incentives such that players don't feel like they are forced to choose between "the fun path" and "the effective path." Like, it's not really skin off my nose, I'm not competing for a trophy, but it bothers me that the people fighting like heroes to get their VCs against other humans in a Thunderdome of thorny alliances might lose to people who got to restart in nearly-uncontested positions as large nations with VCs on AI. I am way more impressed by Hungary's 1076 points than I am by Delhi's 4351 points.

Why not just handicap respawns scorewise? I remember that being done in an earlier dev clash.
