At the beginning of the game, it seemed fine to me, but as soon as I began to have more kings from my dynasty under my rule, the renown began to grow in a strangely high way.

I've checked the culture and I don't see anything that could add renown, I don't have castle keepers. And I checked with a couple of kings how much renown they get from artifacts (the first number is what the game shows, the second number is from their artifacts):

Leontios of Asturias: +3.56 ... +0.26
Anthimos of Sicily: +3.25 ... +0.76
Merzin of Hayastan +2.90 ... +0 (The recently conquered kingdom)

It's not the first time I've seen anything like this, I just haven't checked it before. Does anyone have a similar experience? Is it a bug or is it okay?

Your dynasty also gets static renown rewards from certain things such as inspiration dedications, liege court interactions, romance schemes with Chivalry tradition, etc. - those will not show up in the breakdown but are also more likely to occur the more Kings of your dynasty there are.

It's likely renown for having court grandeur above expected rank.
Thanks for the info, I didn't know about this.

So it's not a mistake, but just a badly unbalanced game. A renown cap for 100 living members has been introduced so that it does not exceed 2 renowns. And suddenly it's okay to get hundreds of renowns? Such a "balance" makes me sad.

In fairness, by the looks of it your dynasty rules a fair chunk of the entire map. The problem is less the amount of renown you get once you get that far and more the (relative) ease of having your dynasty acquire and retain that much land effectively in perpetuity imo

The game definitely has more (and bigger) problems than renown. But that doesn't mean I can't write why I see the current situation as unbalanced. Before the royal court, it was hard to get a renown, but now it's way too easy.

The court grandeur 3.6 can be seen on the print screen from Tirin. If instead there was something between 0.036 and 0.36 plus the renown of the artifacts, then I don't see a problem.

I started at 867, the year is 1126. I'm done 24 out of 40 legacies and the pace has accelerated. I can't say for sure, but the turning point probably came after examining the buildings in the early medieval. In a relatively short time, I jumped from about 10 renowns to over 50 and currently have 110. At this rate, I'll have all the legacies done well before the game ends. It just sounds like a speedrun to me, and I just don't think it's good with a game like CK3. It would be adequate for me to have around 20 renowns now, definitely not over 100.

Also, the renown from castle keepers is based on the county culture rather than the owner culture. My Norse vassal and brother (Partition planning worked out) conquered some Franconian counties and is making renown from that.

oh wow, i hadn't specifically looked at cultural traditions for renown gains..

Mystical Ancestors might be fine, but the rest are so farmable and spamable and they reward way too much, of course there's going to be massive renown bloat.

I'm not sure why these should be giving dynastic renown rather than personal prestige either. At least mystical ancestors thematically makes sense. Why should Romeo eloping with Juliet bring renown to the entire Montague family and its descendants??
