But a random event could never fire...

Does this new CoT make sense if Lugaria CoT never closed?

In post #1657 and the new "Colonial manpower" event, there is a syntax error for the last condition (the NOT one). Shouldn't it be:
Code:
		NOT = { [COLOR="Yellow"]owned = {[/COLOR] province = 361 data = -1  [COLOR="yellow"]}[/COLOR] } #Albania
Because this is an event for Venice, better replace VEN with -1 in all conditions.

fixed event, i forgot to parse it:cool:

Event 337835 can happen even if there is already a CoT in the province (we never know...). And new 337836 event for the closure of Livorno should check if a CoT exists in the province and sleep event 337835 (if it didn't happen before and CoT exists in Firenze for any other reason).

Amendment to VEN 1419 file

Venice lost its access to ATH in 1402 and still did not have it in 1420

In 1400, Venice appointed one of her own, Nicolò Vitturi, podestà in Athens. In 1402, Antonio besieged the city and took it, being proclaimed duke by the populace. In August, Venice offered 8,000 hyperpers for the city and in November Tommaso Mocenigo was sent to offer 1,700 ducats. In January or February 1403, Vitturi finally surrendered the castle and in that latter month, Bernardo Foscarini, the Venetian bailiff of Negroponte was captured in battle. On 31 March 1405, a peace treaty was signed between Antonio and Venice.

Antonio's career was militaristic and adventuresome. In 1406, he took Staria and in 1410 joined the Ottoman Turks to devastate Venetian Nauplia. In 1419, a peace between the Turks and Venice called on Mehmed I to ask Antonio to cease harassing the Venetians. In 1423, he was at war with Theodore II of Morea and occupied Corinth.

Antonio never forgot his Florentine roots and he strove to make Athens a like capital of culture: by renewing the monuments, by patronising letters, and encouraging chivalry. On 7 August 1422, he conceded privileges to Florentine merchants in Athens.

So I recommend

This school, which was open to every child regardless of religion, is believed to be the world's first modern public elementary school. On March 25, 1617, with the permission of Pope Paul V, St. Joseph Calasanz and fourteen other men became the first members of a new religious congregation. On November 18, 1621, Pope Gregory XV raised the congregation to the rank of religious order under solemn vows, calling it The Order of the Pious Schools. During his lifetime the Piarists began to grow in great numbers and to found many schools.

According to the text the trigger should not only check that VEN does not own Crete, but also that they don´t own any of their other historical greek possessions like Zypern/Cyprus? Morea etc. and
that they actually own Corfu to get the population there.

As i stated - partly historical. Venice still had support from the Greeks but by 1718 having only Corfu and the Ionian islands, the number of militai was insignificant
The other aspect- trigger - yes I see your point, In the current map, Venice had negroponte and cyprus..........if you think its necessary to include negroponte and Cyprus in the trigger , then that's fair enough..........but Corfu should be excluded,
Crete was the most important one with plenty of Manpower.

...Venice still had support from the Greeks but by 1718 having only Corfu and the Ionian islands...

Yes, I understand that this was historically so. But as I tend to play grand campaigns from 1419 onward history sometimes can be very different. So if that event removes greek culture from Venice then it should make sure that Venice does not own their main other greek provinces. Especially as the text of your event mentions Morea should it check if VEN has already lost Morea.

...

But the provincemanpowerloss will ONLY work at Corfu IF VEN actually OWNS corfu. If VEN does not own Corfu then that command as far as I know will have no effect.

So you can either make an event that lowers provincemanpower in Corfu - but then make sure that they actually own the province in which manpower is lowered,
OR
you could reduce the overall manpower to show that they had a shortage in recruits from greeks with the manpower command:
"command = { type = manpower value = x }
Add x to manpower pool. (Does not raise the maximum manpower-use provincemanpower for that.) May also be negative. "

Edit: And for the absolutely ahistorical campaigns - the event should check if VEN is that large that loss of some greek isles has not real influence on the venetian empire. e.g. not countrysize = 20

amended - post 1676

No, just harcoded conditions for civil wars. See post just above mine. ;)

More seriously, I will wait for comments if any before inclusion of post #1676. Like Garbon, I think stab +1 is a little too much for Black Dresses but I have no better idea for now.

any suggestions?

After the first line you have the trigger owned twice instead of checking owned and control in all provinces in the "Venice´s greek populace" event.

Edit:
And in the first event about the guilds the obvious to check in the trigger is ownership and control of venice province to have effects in that province.

Another edit: In the guilds event is adding provincemanpower the right thing? The men are used for the galleys. Ships don´t need manpower in gameterms but manpower means a larger support limit for landarmies.
Would having more galleys, e.g. 20 instead of 10 and no provincemanpower+ in the a choice make more sense?

And I´m always wary about taxloss - because taxes are only changeable by event. How about a population loss (people sent to row galleys are not on the land) instead? Population will grow again over time while taxbase won´t.

In the textdescription "claus" would be "clause" as in the sense of a condition of the treaty?
