Victoria II - Japan
Chapter One Hundred-Eighty-Five - The War Goal
The populace were not that surprised that Japan was now at war with the Chinese Empire. What they were slightly surprised about was what the goal of the war turned out to be.
Japan demanded Formosa from the Chinese Empire. It had been decided that the Japanese Empire would, if it could, spread out into the islands and land masses of the South Pacific. It had a strong Navy and felt building up a Pacific Empire would be best.
China did call in its ally. Korea. But Japan was not too worried about that.
What remained of the First Home Island Army was ordered west to protect the coast.
In early December, as the Firat Fleet headed out to sea with full Transports, a small Korean Fleet was seen off the coast. And was ignored. It was too small to be a danger. There was already a Army in the western provinces in case it tried to land troops.
The invasion started on the 21st of December. The First Army should easily take the whole island. And the Navy, when it was available, could hunt down enemy ships. Or continue to block the port.
As this was happening the Province of Edo finished building a Liquor Distillery. And the Province of Mito finished upgrading its rail system. And was ordered to work on building its Fort.
And the year of 1887 came to an end.
