GENERAL NOTES:
If there is no RP in the setting up and continued use of the agreement there will be penalties to the roll. With excellent or good play, the opposite will be the case.

If an alliance, trade agreement or anything else springs from nowhere, there will quite probably be a bad event (or simply bad modifier) if I notice.

Any complaints or comments and suggestions on these events send to my (Longinus') PM inbox, please.

If you decide to play the trade aspect of the game, RP it. Otherwise, there will be negative modifiers upon the rolls (Trade is collapsing, merchants are being pushed back etc.) or simply there will be no roll for them.

Massive production of trade agreements is okay but will often lead nowhere.

Be sure that any RP, agreements, deals etc. do not collide with other. Make sure that your merchants will be able to get any profit at all from the bussiness, check if they have any access to the area etc.

For God's sake use your common sense, historial background etc.

Thou shall be rewarded.

Thank you for attention

Longinus, Your friendly trading auto-bot :)

Ps. Here is a rough reasoning why Russia got (+1 to the roll) Remember, modfires can be negative if your Relam will deserve it

In answer to Das Herr PM, with his permission I am publishing it.

Das Heer wrote on 28-05-2003 07:27:
Alright, I figured if you let Sibir in to the event I got a chance:p

Now Im not trying to get into your trade events out of the blue; I have signed a lucrative agreement with Genoa gauranteeing a market for Russian exports, and Im starting to RP the trade now. Notice my last post in my court and rumors thread.

The trade treaty, while limiting me to only trade with Genoa, is a big step up for Russia. Now I have a very poweful trade state, Genoa, that has promised to buy Russian exports. This provides my few;) merchants a stable market within Moscow, Genoa built a customs house their, to sell their goods. Something that hasnt happened before in Russia. Also, Russia is now able to import a mass quantaties of goods from Europe provided through Genoa.

I am also at peace with the Horde and all my neighbors so my merchants can opperate smoothly again.

thoughts on this?

DH;)

hey mate,

as to the trade events there is a rough guidiance.

GENERAL NOTES: (…)

frankly I am not so sure if this agreement with Genua is beneficial to any of you at all. Distance between both of you is quite great and Russian raw materials could be easily bought in any other place for much smaller price (costs of transportation)

furthermore, giving a monopoly to Genuan traders isn't good for native Russian traders for sure. In other words, you got the monies for war but in a longer perspective you have lost some of your revenues in favor of Genua. The agreement with Genua guarantees one thing mate, Russian matters nothing, Genovase matter everything. Read this agreement once again and perhaps you will agree with my line of reasoning.

Historically, lands of Rus were trading through the Baltic Sea and Lithuania, why? Because it was much cheaper and convenient.

In the end I must say that two most important cities of Rus are Novograd and Moscow, while Novograd is still even more important then Moscow. You can compete via RP with Novograd, take the city or make agreement with the city but surely you have to deal with that one way or another.

these are my rough thoughts and if you let me I would like to publish them in the Longue as I would like to show ppl how exactly trade events works.

regards

Longinus

GENERAL NOTES:

If there is no RP in the setting up and continued use of the agreement there will be penalties to the roll. With excellent or good play, the opposite will be the case.

If an alliance, trade agreement or anything else springs from nowhere, there will quite probably be a bad event (or simply bad modifier) if I notice.

Any complaints or comments and suggestions on these events send to my (Longinus’) PM inbox, please.

If you decide to play the trade aspect of the game, Role Play it. Otherwise, there will be negative modifiers upon the rolls (Trade is collapsing, merchants are being pushed back etc.) or simply there will be no roll for them.

Massive production of trade agreements is “okay” but will often lead absolutely nowhere.

Be sure that any Role Play, agreements, deals etc. do not collide with each other. Make sure that your merchants will be able to profit at all from the business, otherwise such enterprises will only bring losses or have small probability of success. Double check if merchants have any access to the area (remember about trade routes, rivers, ports, hostile lands, lands at war…) always keep in mind the distance. If you decide to invest somewhere it doesn’t necessary mean that this investment will bring profit, et cetera.

For God’s sake use your common sense, knowledge of historical background and the like

Thou shalt be rewarded.

* France: Nothing new in the lands of France really. (staright roll) 6 + 0 = 6. Trade is average this year

* Pommern: There was some activity, sadly, with the illness of their duke Pommeranians feel insecure and bandits rampage. (- 2 to the roll) 9 - 1 = 8. Pirates and Bandits took all the profit ( -1 Morale for 1 year 1 in 4 chance of effect ) rolled 3, no morale loss.

Annual Trade Event - Anno Domini 1451

MAJOR TRADE EVENT TABLE

tn_mchanger.jpg

The leaders of certain trade organizations reap the rewards of their hard work. Some merchants are more active and some are less. Certain states and organizations signed profitable deals and agreements. Trade is flourishing in their realms.

1. Thriving trade routes bring in hitherto unseen revenue for the realm, this year. (+1 econ, +1Tech and +1 Morale for 1 year )

2. Astronomically prosperous trade raises the morale of the entire populous... (+1 Morale +1Tech for 1 year )

3. Excellent trade aids commerce at every level... +1 eco for one year)

4. Trade is flourishing, huge incomes. (+1 Tech for 1 year )

5. Trade is flourishing

6. Trade is average this year.

7. Trade is average this year.

8. Traders break even.

9. Pirates and Bandits took all the profit ( -1 Morale for 1 year 1 in 2 chance of effect)

10. Crippling losses by traders. ( -1 Morale, - 1 eco for 1 year)

NOTE: Good RP will regularly affect these rolls.

MAJOR trade events:

* Bremen: The Hansa's German influence continues to grow. Indeed with the near silence of her sister-organization, the WHU, Hansa merchants find themselves in even greater demand. Years of peace and little threat of war from any direction only bolster confidence and fortune further. (-4 to the roll) Roll: 3 - 4 = 1 Thriving trade routes bring in hitherto unseen revenue for the realm, this year. (+1 econ, +1Tech and +1 Morale for 1 year )

* Algiers: Algerian commercial interests stretch from the Near East, to Anglia, to Novgorod. While the expenses involved in such trade are great, it seems dividends can potentially be paid in simple diversification. Budding ties with the Italian Trade Union and ties to sub-saharan africa, even if limited provide a further base for the Algerian economy. On the other hand, war threatens but the might of the Algerian navy keeps confidence to the point where potential damage is kept a minimum for the time being. (-3 to the roll) Roll: 8 - 3 = 5 Trade is flourishing

* Pskov: The further development and settlement of the vast colonial holdings of Pskov and Novgorod provide limitless opportunity for exploitation. Recent deals between the Kremlins of Pskov and Suzdal only further monopolize the lucrative fur trade. However many are still adjusting to the new Baltic arrangement with the Teutonic Order, and for some the transition has not been painless. (-3 to the roll) Roll: 8 - 3 = 5 Trade is flourishing

* Piemonte: Recently freed from the Lotharingian yoke, the people of Piemonte are still adjusting to the new order. However, as heads of the powerful Italian Trade Union, even this natural awkwardness has minimal effect. Deals in North Africa further boost commercial success and years later the scars from war, where present, are healing nicely. (-3 to the roll) Roll: 9 - 3 = 6 Trade is average this year.

note to cccino all Eco bonuses and loses are semi-permanent, it means that max nation eco rises/drops by one for one year.

Minor trade events:

*Gelre: The dutch benefit from membership in the ever affluent Hansa. Token activity, increases their chances for fortune. (-1 to the roll) Roll: 2 - 1 = 1 Good trade raises the morale of the populous......... (+1Tech and +1eco for 1 year )

* France: French merchants are quiet, however these bountiful and powerful lands demand something of an inherent importance. (staright roll) Roll: 4 + 0 = 4 Trade is flourishing.

* England: Strong relations with the Hansa and the conclusion to civil war leave the English with a much needed breather. War torn lands begin to recover, and the economy begins to shift away from that of a country at war, to a country at peace. (-1 to the roll) Roll: 10 - 1 = 9 Bad losses by traders. ( -1 Morale for 1 year 1 in 2 chance of effect - 1 econ for one year) (Rolled 8, no morale effect)

* Moldavia: Controlling the mouthes of the Danube guarantee to the Moldavians a certain amount of commerce. Recent, near bloodless victory in Wallachia boosts the confidence of Moldavian merchants eager to tap the wealth of Wallachia. Fortunately the recently ended tourney has by nature re-kindled foreign curiosity in this often mis-concieved land which could prove positive. (-2 to the roll) Roll: 3 -2 = 1 Good trade raises the morale of the populous......... (+1Tech and +1eco for 1 year )

* Brandenburg: Recently joining the Hansa has positive effects. Brandenburg unfortunately lacks access to the Baltic except via the WHU territory of Pommern. Peace and security on their own go a long way to boosting prosperity. (- 2 to the roll) Roll: 6 - 2 = 4 Trade is flourishing.

* Pommern: Many people wonder at the causes for seeming Pommeranian isolation. Leading the WHU seems to have some balancing effect. However some are beginning to wonder who is truly leading when compared to the vigorous WHU members of Pskov and Novgorod. (straight roll) Roll: 2 + 0 = 2 Good trade aids the artisans........... (+1eco for 1 year )

* Mameluks: Drastic social and religious changes at the top badly shake Egyptian confidence. Things such as gold and silver are hoarded as they always are in times of insecurity. The traditional wealth of the land and good trade contacts act as buffers to economic disaster as the people await the outcome of their leaders' actions. (straight roll) Roll: 7 + 0 = 7 Traders break even.

* Ottoman Empire: The Turks hold dominion over the inherently important Bospherus. Rumours of cooperation with Venezia and stronger economic ties with Tunisia are both seen positively. (-2 to the roll) Roll: 5 - 2 = 3 Trade is flourishing, huge incomes (+1 Tech for 1 year )

* Carinthia: This recently born slavonic realm benefits from having control over important alpine passes leading toward a resurgent Venice. There is opportunity here, limited only by lack of activity. (straight roll) Roll: 5 + 0 = 5 Trade is average this year

* Bohemia: Wealthy lands, overlords of the Magyar both contribute toward the dominant economic role of Bohemia in central Europe. (-1 to the roll) Roll: 1 -1 = 1 Good trade raises the morale of the populous......... (+1Tech and +1eco for 1 year )

* Venice: Inviting artisans from all over, even from such distant places such as Russia, the Near-East and Moldavia has proved helpful and beneficial to the reconstruction of Venice. The new Doge seems focused and has already begun embarking on reconstructing the mighty commercial ties of this merchant republic. The Italian Trade Union in the west is however a major competitor, a new rival in place of Genoa, for a new Venice. (-3 to the roll) Roll: 10 - 3 = 7 Traders break even.

* Burgundy: A realm of this size cannot be ignored. Even less so a realm this size who controls such important ports as those to be found in the Dutch lowlands. (straight roll) Roll: 4 + 0 = 4 Trade is flourishing.

* Fez: Active trade relations within North Africa help to make the merchants of Fez prosperous. Some are even beginning to talk of an expedition to the south in search of even greater potential resources and opportunities. (-2 to the roll) Roll: 1 - 2 = 1 Good trade raises the morale of the populous......... (+1Tech and +1eco for 1 year )

* Tunisa: Budding trade relations within North Africa provide opportunity for commercial prosperity. Tunisian corsairs begin to wreak havoc, but some fear potential retribution. (-1 to the roll) Roll: 2 - 1 = 1 Good trade raises the morale of the populous......... (+1Tech and +1eco for 1 year )

* Suzdal: A lot of activity in both the north of Suzdal and Kazan promise for greater prosperity in the region. Expiditions explore the tayga and trade posts are set up. New deals with the merchant giants of Pskov and Novgorod secure virtual Russian monopoly in the fur trade. (-3 to the roll) Roll: 10 - 3 = 7 Traders break even.

MAJOR trade events:

* Bremen: The heart of the Hanseactic Union continues to beat strong, the Union's extensive trade network promises a certain security of prosperity. A general slow down in activity is viewed by some as not the most favorable trend. Some blame the economic slow down upon a general quiet area in the Baltic as a whole. (-3 to the roll) Roll: 4 - 3 = 1. Thriving trade routes bring in hitherto unseen revenue for the realm, this year. (+1 econ, +1Tech and +1 Morale for 1 year )

* Algiers: Though a truce is in the making, war is beginning to take its toll upon the vast trade network of the Algerians. Worse yet rampant inflation is devastating many fortunes. Algeria's navy remains strong, protecting her merchant interests, but many find that the devaluation of their currency in combination with increasing Italian Trade Union competition is making life difficult. (-1 to the roll) 9 - 1 = 8 8. Traders break even.

* Pskov: In relation to the rest of Baltic trade, Pskov-Novgorod has seen the amount of business in her markets slacken. With the Teutonic Order now having reverted to inside politics, many merchants are feeling that much more confident - an important thing when questions over Russia's fate are becoming very popular in guilds and drawing rooms alike. (-2 to the roll) 10 - 2 = 8 8. Traders break even.

* Piemonte: Very much the success story, the Italian Trade Union is powerfully moving ahead to become the clear dominant economic force in southern Europe and the western Mediterranean. Piemonte acting as the brain of this organization reaps the benefits of intelligent deals in a generally naturally prosperous region. (-4 to the roll) 5 - 4 = 1 1. Thriving trade routes bring in hitherto unseen revenue for the realm, this year. (+1 econ, +1Tech and +1 Morale for 1 year )

NOTE: Good RP will regularly affect these rolls.

Minor trade events:

*Gelre: Token activity and membership in the Hansa provide certain benefits. Though the Hansa itself has had something of a quiet year, things certainly don't look negative. (-1 to the roll) 7 - 1 = 6. Trade is average this year

* France: Little is happening in the rich lands of the Franks. The war in the south brings interest and the proximity of the ITO is beneficial. (straight roll) 8 = 8. Pirates and Bandits took all the profit ( -1 Morale for 1 year 1 in 4 chance of effect ) NO EFFECT (10 out of 12 rolled)

* England: Many eastern English ports belong to the Hansa organization which itself has been rather quiet of late. There is some interesting talk of dealings with the Venetians. (straight roll) 2 = 2. Good trade aids the artisans........... (+1eco for 1 year )

* Moldavia: The Union of the Vlach is undergoing interesting transitions. On the one hand Moldavia seeks a rebirth of the Danube syndicate, on the other there is the natural fear that foreign goods unabated by lack of traditional tarriffs and taxes could prove very harmful to the local economy. These suscpicions for now however are still idle and controlling the Danube mouth provides Moldavia with a good source of taxable wealth. (-2 to the roll) 8 - 2 = 6 6. Trade is average this year

* Brandenburg: A quiet Hansa, general lack of activity and poor access does not paint the prettiest of pictures for these industrious eastern Germans. (straight roll) 7 7. Traders break even.

* Pommern: Silence out of the Pommeranian lands spreads a general lack of confidence throughout the Baltic region affection the WHU and Hansa both. Some are beginning to fear true economic back peddling out of a realm that was for so long so economically important. (+1 to the roll) 3 + 1 = 4 4. Trade is flourishing.

* Ottoman Empire: The straits provide the Ottoman Empire with a dominance over Black Sea trade that can be nothing but beneficial. Talks with the Venetians and Portugese are worth noting, however the typical end of the Silk Road, Constantinople is beginning to see token competition from Baghdad that brings concerns for some. (-2 to the roll) 10 - 2 = 8 8. Pirates and Bandits took all the profit ( -1 Morale for 1 year 1 in 4 chance of effect ) NO EFFECT (12 out of 12 rolled)

* Carinthia: This ethnically mixed realm sitting upon historically important trade routes from the Adriatic into Central Europe has seen talks with Venice that could in the future provide further benefit. (-1 to the roll) 2 - 1 = 1. Good trade raises the morale of the populous......... (+1Tech and +1eco for 1 year )

* Bohemia: The renewed interest in the Danube Syndicate could only help Bohemia, arguably the strongest and wealthiest of the potential member realms. There is a good sense of confidence within these typically affluent lands. (-2 to the roll) 9 - 2 = 7 7. Traders break even.

* Venice: Reaching out once more, Venice is respectfully picking up her pace once more. Tradition has a value all of its own, which is something that the Venetians can certainly capitalize from. The coming years will tell if Venice can reform her old trade routes and rise to mediterranean dominance once more, it will be difficult with other major economic entities such as ITO, Algeria and the Danube Syndicate, but things are looking positive yet. (-2 to the roll) 10 - 2 = 8 8. Pirates and Bandits took all the profit ( -1 Morale for 1 year 1 in 4 chance of effect ) NO EFFECT (5 out of 12 rolled)

* Burgundy: Lotharingia's ability to span typical economic zones due to her sheer size, and the natural wealth of her lands bode well for the realm. (straight roll) 6 + 0 = 6 6. Trade is average this year

* Fez: War and inflation have cast a dark gloom over all of North Africa, damaging from external factors Fez's economy. Still, Fez remains out of the heart of the storm so to speak and her own ventures provide a certain security. (-1 to the roll) 5 - 1 = 4 4. Trade is flourishing.

* Tunisa: Inflation and competition, problems with her neighbor Algeria all paint a dismal picture. The merchants can only hope that peace will be restored soon and that the economy can come back to something of normalcy. (+1 to the roll) 4 + 1 = 5 5. Trade is average this year

* Suzdal: A generally slow year in Northern Europe does not promise the same movement as wealth as Suzdal had seen in pervious years. Continued exploration and increasing of resource gathering ability promises a generally stable and growing situation for the Russian merchants who enjoy privelidges in the great markets of Novgorod and Pskova. (-2 to the roll) 9 - 2 = 7 7. Traders break even.

* The Kaliphate: Impressive activity speaks that maybe the once grand and once devastated city of Baghdad maybe on its way to reclaiming some of its former glory within the Muslim world. She is working for her share of the goods out of the east, but her general bad position in relevance to western markets works as something of a handicap. (-2 to the roll) 10 - 2 = 8 8. Pirates and Bandits took all the profit ( -1 Morale for 1 year 1 in 4 chance of effect )

* Portugal: The Portugese are on the road of reclaiming their former economic power following something of a time of troubles for the Kingdom. Renewed efforts in Africa and the beginning of talks in the east are both good signs. (-2 to the roll) 5 - 2 = 3 3. Trade is flourishing, huge incomes (+1 Tech for 1 year )
