"I call upon all MGA's to vote a strong Nay against the WETS. Why? Yes because of the Defense cuts. First the ELP has stalled every attempt to use the needed money on the defense of our nation and now they want to spend the money on something else! The ELP hasn't even thought about cutting in other departments!"

These are coordinated defense cuts. The Tilapians will cut dollar for dollar, which for them is a proportionally larger cut. It is therefore safe to do so, in this case. Furthermore, dealing fairly, equitably, and humanely with the influx of people in Western Eutopia will increase our security by meeting basic human needs, and helping our economy. Building up the navy now to be able to support an invasion of New Bengal is no longer a consideration, not that it ever should have been. The bill to meet the immediate needs of the New Bengalis now in Western Eutopia is a good bill and a better immediate use of your tax dollars than some new submarines for Admiral Tulp to play with.

A Party of Liberty press release states that J.R. Zhokhyen has resigned his position as Minister of the Interior and shall be taking a seat and position as Senior Legislator for the PoL in the GA shortly.

"I would like to thank my fellow party members for their support, and join them in calling for members of the assembly to support my election to the position of Vice President. What we need is a serious stance in the government, but not one of constant action. We need to keep a stable front, and that is what I provide.

The economic programs should be continued in the W.E.T. and throughout Eutopia. I want to present a stable government, one that will ensure both citizens in Eutopia, and those looking to Eutopia for economic and social reasons, that we are a stable county with a solid foundation in the government. We need to ensure to our neighbors that we are stable, and will continue to be into the future. This is essential to our friendship and cooperation with them. I will be an open and communicative choice, and I will do what I can to ensure that Eutopia continues down the right path.

The ELP was selected, by the people of Eutopia, to the office of President. Logic supports that it should continue. If the people decide this was a mistake, then come the election they may vote so. However, as a member of the ELP, I feel it is my duty to bring back some respect both to the office of president, which our party was elected to, and to our nation, which has suffered greatly in recent years, but has finally emerged to be a productive and growing nation. It should be no surprise that our nation seems at its strongest under the ELP. If not for the tragic death of President Gonzov, none of this would come to pass, and I would not be here asking for your support.

But we are faced with a crisis of politics, and the ELP was elected to this office. Therefore I urge members of the General Assembly to support me in this election, and allow the government to continue its work."

Centre

Preamble

Centre is based on a few key idea, the most important being that Eutopia needs a "Middle of the Road" Party to carry out her wishes. The current parties force Eutopian Moderates to choose between the Left, the Right and the Libertarians, and none of these can fulfill the wishes of the Eutopian People. Centre also belives that ideology in itself is restrictive, and that Politicians should decide what their positions on issues are based on their usefulness, not on their beliefs. Centre is a Democratic party, that seeks to affirm the place that democracy has in Eutopia, and a party that always works to protect it from tyranny.

Abortion

We belive that the current laws on Abortion that exist in Eutopia are adequate. Centre opposes any motion to ban Abortion in Eutopia.

Equal Rights

Centre is a party that is founded on the belief that all men and women are born equal. We support the right to Civil Unions for Homosexual couples.

Drugs

Centre thinks that the current War on Drugs is failing. Instead of putting more money down the black hole of Drugs Policing, we should strike at the root of the problem. More money for Social Programs to give people something other than Hard Drugs in their lives.

Welfare

While we feel that Welfare is needed to keep the poor off the streets and disabled people able to maintain a living, the current system needs reform to stop people leeching off it. Reforming the system is the key, not destroying it.

Environment

We belive that the Clean Eutopia Act was a great bill, and we are totally opposed to it being repealed. The Exhaust Bill was another bill we are supportive of, and while we would like to see further acts in defense of our Environment, we should be weary of it damaging industry.

Capitalism

Centre is opposed to Socialism, an ideology that has been shown to have failed the world over. Capitalism is also not a perfect system, and we are wary of rampant corporations. We feel that the best system for Eutopia to follow would be a Capitalist system that has safeguards on industry.

Unification

We are supportive of Unification with Tilapia and St Espirit, though only if the people of these respective countries desire such an eventuality.

Republicanism

Eutopia is a Republican Democracy, and it should stay a Republican Democracy. We are totally opposed to any re-instatement of the Monarchy, as it has been shown that the vast majority of Eutopia has rejected it.

Healthcare

We belive that the current Healthcare system in Eutopia is one of the best in the world, and both the Left's cries to increase spending and the Right's cries to demolish it are unjustified. If it is shown that the system is in bad shape, then we can consider reforming it.

Death Penalty

Not only is the Death Penalty killing people, it is also costing Eutopia money. We will wait for the outcome of the investigation into the institution, and if it is shown to be costly, then we will have to end it. For now, the moratorium is adequate.

Foreign Affairs

Eutopia needs to regain her international standing. We should work to stamp out our unfavourable image around the world, and co-operate with Tilapia and St. Espirit. We should renounce our claims to Bermuda.

Military

Centre is of the opinion that the increases in Military spending that have been proposed are pointless. With the resolution of the New Bengal Crisis, even that small chance of conflict with a neighbour has been extinguished. Spending in that area should go to where it is more needed.

Bacon pins it up on the Townhall bulliten board, looking smug.

*Emil Lucescu shows a favorable opinion of the party and would consider joining at some point.

Jim Sykes and the ENP believes he would make the best candidate for president.

Jim has a strong, proven record, serving as a member of the GA, without absconding, for two terms.

After the speaker Vandelft's absence, Sykes was elevated to the role of speaker, and while admitedly slow to start, was able to steer the direction of the Assembly and followthrough on several proposed motions.

If elected speaker, and vice-president, and thus president, he will once more put his full commitment to the job and assures Eutopia that he will steer the nation steadily through to the next election.

Thank you

"Per Tulp has failed to coherently demonstrate that any other nation threatens the UPE or to give a workable proposal of where we might spend the money originally allocated in the budget. If he's not going to do his job properly, I don't see why we should funnel millions to his pet projects when there are many more urgent causes we must fund. Ignore his empty rhetoric, designed entirely to provoke unnecessary cuts to social spending. Vote aye on the WETS.

On a different note, and not to sound like I'm beating up on the ENP, but I would urge any assembly member who cares about civil rights not to vote for Per Sykes. The next item on the agenda is the Equal Rights Amendment, the brainchild of the PoL's Craig Leary, which Per Sykes is opposed to. Following that is the Eutopian Federal Mortgage Guarantee Act, a bill which was last term seconded by the same Per Leary. I urge any in this assembly whose party names indicate that they stand for freedom to remember their names and not to turn away from the progressive path. I urge them to vote for Per Cain."

Per Berrangeur implies, I believe, that if I'm president I would veto bills I am against. He has nothing to back up this claim. I am first and foremost a Nationalist. I believe strongly in the will of the people. Unlike other presidents , I would not veto a bill that has the clear support of the People.

I understand and support Mr. Zhokhyen's move, as it is important that those who voted for the Party Liberty General Assembly slate deserve that group act in a coordinated fashion, which usually requires attentive leadership, such as Mr. Zhokhyen can provide. However, the duties of the Interior Minister should not be neglected either and the votes of those who supported the Party of Liberty's executive slate should not be snubbed. The most well known Party of Liberty figure other than Mr. Zhokhyen is John O'Floinn, who is currently serving as Attorney General, even though the ENP was charged with filling that post. I would request that the leadership of the PoL complete their selection process for a new Interior Minister with due speed. If they do not find a suitable candidate from within their ranks, then perhaps they would need to widen the circle of people they would be willing to consider to include people from other parties or independents.

Cojuanco holds a press conference just outside the GA building.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Thank you for coming.

As you know, there have been five successive Presidencies in this Term alone. Some barely lasted a month. This is not a good trend, for all of Eutopia. Holy Mother of God and St. Brendan! What are we turning into, another Italy? And what does this do to the economy? It reduces investment. Investment that we badly need. Instability means factories outsourcing, laying off workers, and even the silence of our factories, our businesses. I hope that when our children enter the workforce, that our elected leaders have the foresight to see that they have something to contribute to the economy.

This, my friends, is my hope for President Cain: That he be a President that is not only effective, but can stay for the rest of this term. And to anyone running in the next election: Stay committed. Stay attentive. Stay in the goddamn office.

Thank you.

The General Assembly has elected a new Speaker/Vice President. I would like to congratulation Alastar Cain on his election. The General Assembly has also passed two bills, which await President VanDelft's signature or veto. While President VanDelft has not taken any presidential action since being elevated to that august position, his party incorporates many Libertarian beliefs, which favor minimal government, so perhaps he was just acting in accordance with those beliefs. I doubt that this is the case, but I do not want to deny this farfetched possibility. However, the President has a duty to sign or veto those bills, a duty which overrides any preference for inaction. Therefore, if President VanDelft does not take action on those bills within the next (36 hours RL), I will file the papers to have him removed from office, which will of course require two other signatures from cabinet officers or the new Vice President. If someone else doesn't want to wait that long, and files the papers sooner than that, I will sign them before that time limit has expired, as President VanDelft has never disproved his absence.

OOC: Assume that this was before the eruption.

“Ladies and gentlemen;

As you know, we have a sovereign. Her Majesty, Queen Francesca. do not lose heart, my fellow Eutopians. We hope that the new government was a constitutional monarchy, and that Eutopian liberties are still respected. Therefore, if Her Majesty would so desire, I am willing to assume duties as Head of Government for the Kingdom of Eutopia.’

"Well, Her Majesty would not so desire" says a surly looking Tilapian soldier. Accompanied by a partner, both accompanied by sub-machine guns, they advance on Cojuanco.

"Jeez, how'd this one get loose...must be squirrelly." They catch hold of Cojuanco and drag him off to an interrment camp nearby, prepared to taser him if he gets too feisty.

"Hey...you smell something?" one asks the other, the stench of rotten eggs suddenly permeating the air...

"I want to collaborate with you! Keep the people pacified! God Save Queen Francesca!"

The camera cuts to Ted Rapp, standing on a statue of Joesphus Sergei, surrounded by a sea of lava.

"This is Ted Rapp, reporting live from Eutopia City. All around me is the evidence of a world gone mad, from the Tilipian flags flying from the burning buildings all around me, to the lava currently devouring my cameraman. It's an unbelievable scene, straight out of Dante, and perhaps a fitting fate for the cesspool of corruption that was once Eutopia City. I'll be reporting as long as I can, but this statue of socialist leader Sergei is slowly melting into slag."

Suddenly, from off camera right, something scuttles fast across the lava. There's the briefest glimpse of a giant camel spider, and Rapp can be heard screaming. "No, I'm a journalist! You can't do this! The whole world is watching, the whole world is . . . ."

The camera tips into the lava, and the last sound is a large burp.

*This was not a good week for Lt. Cmdr. Carl T. Smythe. He had received news last night of his father's death. He had never been that close to him (his parents had divorced when he was 4), but it was still very much of a shock.

Then came the explosions. Carl later realized, of course, that it was the work of Tilapian agents. In the meantime, however, Carl (in temporary command as the Captain was on leave in Eutopia City) was able to get his ship out of the harbor under enemy fire and despite attempts to seal the harbor.

The news soon came in that Tilapia had launched a massive surprise attack on the UPE--Eutopia City had been captured, the military chain of chain had been knocked out--leaving Smythe and the
Kirby as some of the last remnants of UPE power.

Smythe, left without orders, considered his options. To sail south and confront the Tilapians directly would be foolhardy--the Tilapians had had naval dominance since secession (with the Buen Puerto fleet), and that had only increased tenfold in the last day. He could try to sail east, towards New Lancaster and Landfall, the most likely seats of last-ditch resistance. Or he could go north, towards Bermuda and the States, giving up the cause as lost here on the ground and trying to use whatever familial connections he had to try to get foreign aid and support.

He weighed it carefully, discussed the matter with his fellow officers, and spend many hours in his stateroom. He questioned himself--why did he join the Navy in the first place? What would his father have thought? What would his great-grandfather, who died for the cause of freedom on a forgotten front in 1943, have done?

Carl was never the speaker his father was, but he tried to muster all his rhetorical might for his one speech to the crew.
*

The war is lost militarily. Tilapia has infiltrated our country, taken our country, destroyed our high command--there is nothing we can do now to change that. We here on this ship may be all that's left of Eutopia--President, Cabinet, and all. But we can still let the world know that the good and the true and the pure still stand up against Tyranny and Monarchy--that good men, truly good men, even though they may lose in the end, still fight for that goodness--and make those bastard Tilapians pay for what they've done.

We're heading south, boys!

Cortez stared out over the open water, quietly talking to himself on the bridge of the Tilapian F-100 Sentinel. "Gotcha, Tulp. Now lets hope you're smart enough to realize you've lost. You always wanted re-unification, now you've got it..."

"Sir! Unidentified contact at extreme range! Lone ship, small profile. Could be one of their Coast Guard cutters, a Vilms-class. It's not one of the frigates or destroyers." The powerful AEGIS system had picked up Smythe's ship long before he would be able to see the Tilapian task force headed north.

"How long until we're in weapons range?"

"30 seconds and closing. Should I vector in aircraft?"

"For that little thing? No, those planes are needed over the mainland. Warm up three tubes...I know it's overkill, but I want to make this guy an example."

"Tubes one, two, and three are hot. Impact spacing?"

"One minute apart. And put the first one into the bridge."

* * * * *

Minutes later, Smythe's radar officer picked up the incoming missiles on his screen. Lashing out at the countermeasures controls, he screamed "Incoming missiles! I don't have a target, there's no hostiles on radar!"

*Smythe knew he never had the rhetorical skills of his father. He did not truly realize how much worse his logical skills were until he saw the missiles homing in on his position.*

Tulp had never liked submarines personally. He always made that joke about submarines just being tubes with alot of semen. Not because it was funny but out of spite. He didn't even know what he did aboard the ENS Killershark, he had just thought that it would be the best way to deal the the Tilapian F100s on this 'training exercise. Ofcourse it wasn't training nor an exercise anymore."

He grabbed the intercom.

"Communications, please record this message.

Men, petty officers, officers. Eutopians. I had always thought that the threat came from our own politicians, I became part of politics to stop them, atleast I thought. Our politicians, the Spanish, the French maybe the Yanks. First I thought that the Tilapians were a threat as well but after the Cuban War I thought that that was wrong. Why? Because I believe in an old Eutopian tradition, honour. In the Cuban War we fought side by side with the Tillies, we shed blood side by side. We became blood brothers, or so I thought. They have broken that sacred honour, that blood-bond. However, we will never forget that, we will not let them get away with that. Even after our death will our spirits hound them. The knife in our back might kill our body friends but it will never kill our honour.

I will not say that we shall overcome, I shall not say that the vulcano that killed much of the invaders is a sign that the Almighty God is comming to our aid. No, my brothers in arms. We will not survive this day for what if we do? We ill see our loved ones death, we will lose our honour as well.

They, in their villas at Buen Puerto Beach, they in their palaces. They think they can sleep in their beds. They think they have broken the Eutopian Spirit. We could sail away to Bermuda, we could sail away to Miami. That could be our first reaction, to save our own lifes. Men, those lifes would be worth nothing, for a nation that surrenders to Tyrants will lose more then only their bodies and property, the light will go out.

In hunderds of years my brothers, everyone will forget about the Tillies, even their betrayal will be forgotten like tears in the rain. From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,

yes, this may very will become our Thermopylea, however it will be Tilapia's Stalingrad.
To my brothers in arms, soon to be brothers in blood I say this: It is indeed a terrible day to die, however it is even a more worse day to surrender. To Eutopians everywhere which will soon here this message: The Eutopian Navy and myself will do it's duty, I can expect no more but also no less then everyone to it's own. That was all, it was a honour and a privelidge to serve and fight with you., this was Admiral Henry John Tulp, Eutopian Navy, Thank you."

Tulp then turned to Captain Williams.

"Captain, I want you to put this message in a communication bouy and send it above water, it must begin transmitting to anyone who can hear, try to contact sattelites, only when we have left."

Williams could only nod.

"Helm, bring us to a safe depth, we don't want the Tillies to sight us before we put a torp in Cortez's arse, then set course to the South, to the Tilapian Fleet."

Tulp loved submarines...

New Lancaster City Naval Base

“Come on!” Haug shouted to his wife and kids. “Let’s go!”

“Ah, it’s still there. Thank god!” he said, seeing his old SH-3 Sea King helicopter still sitting at the helipad. “Get into the chopper, the Tillies’ll have their artillery landing here at any moment! Go go go!” he shouted.

As the SH-3 took off and headed east, a few Tilapian helicopters flew over NLCNB. They dropped paratroops and seized the once proud naval base.

“Damn, so there’s nobody here” the Colonel in command said. “Prepare to capture the rest of the city. Call up the mechanized forces”

Bermuda, 3 hours later

“Listen, Turkey, I got 4 people aboard this chopper and I’ve got warshots. If you want to get this over with, let me land, for christ’s sake!” Haug yelled at the air traffic controller.

“Oh, alright. Land, then I’ll have Royal Marines seize the chopper. That alright?”

“Yeah. Going down now.”

“Are we finally getting down, Dad?” Haug’s oldest son, Paul, asked. “Hell yeah. We’ll be down in a couple of minutes. The Tillies’ll have captured the base by now. But at least we’re safe. I’ll book for a flight over to Norway”
