Smoke break outside of the constitutional convention

Garibaldi was pacing with a cigarette in his mouth. He normally didn't smoke, but he was furious and always kept a few in his pocket for special occasions. He started ranting and it turned into a speech.

"Who does she think he is? Tilapia are a bunch of traitors who sold out their countrymen, and she's their queen! How dare she even think of showing up to lend her opinion. This is still Eutopia, and when we HAD a monarchy, we also had salic law. That bitch has no right to call herself our queen. This Maria is no different from Marie Antoinette, and her fate should be the same. I'm not a republican, but by God she wouldn't dare be here if some Hell-bound assassin hadn't taken out the general."

He threw his cigarette butt to the floor and stepped on it.

"Am I alone in thinking this? I know I'm not just crazy."

I've once put great hope in her yet her actions seem to prove her more and more opportunistic. Queen of Tilapia? Ridiculous! She didn't even invite her supporters to coronation. I don't understand how come she still retains her eutopian citizenship either.

"I Wouldn't know, but thanks for clarifying. I only read state media. Even worse, I'd say. Queen of some savages instead of my Latin cousins. Regardless, we've had no legitimate monarch since the king's death, I'm sure no one can dispute that."

Garibaldi then laughed.

"Did Levarge have a son? Let's put him on the throne."

The New Socialist Party of Eutopia​

PREAMBLE:

The framework of The New Socialist Party of Eutopia’s values and policies are constructed on a framework of socialist-democratic ideals.
Membership in the Party is completley impartial and free- it does not subscribe to the exclusion of individuals based on race, colour or creed. Furthermore, the Party is activley engaged in the promotion of values pertaining to social peace and harmony.
The NSPE is a democratic institution. Thus, any issue pertaining to internal affairs in the party framework requiring a decision will be discussed to the full by its constituent members, and decided by the process of majority voting. Issues pertaining to external relations and the membership itself will be conducted in the same manner.

The NSPE recognises that the economic system of capitalism has become ingrained into the framework of society. The role of government should be to curtail the excess of capitalism, to provide a safe workplace and to stop the exploitation of workers. The NSPE strongly believes in maintaining Eutopia’s current national industries and is against privatization. At the same time, the NSPE strongly encourages the creation of worker cooperatives.

POLICIES:

Foreign Affairs
The NSPE believes that Eutopia must be active in the United Nations or any other world organization that promotes peace and prosperity. We believe that nations that support terrorism, commit human rights abuses, and other crimes against humanity should be eliminated through diplomatic or militaristic means[force being a last resort]. The NSPE supports trade with the rest of the world, although we refuse to allow the people to be exploited by it.

Unification:
We believe that Eutopia should be Unified by Diplomatic means. The NSPE would like to come to reconciliation with the seceded provinces. Ideally we would like to see them brought back into the republic with certain autonomous rights.

Republicanism:
The Monarchy is an outdated figurehead of Oppression and Social Injustice. The only way for a fully Democratic Eutopia is to have no Monarchy.

Millitary:

The military must serve the purpose of peace, defence, and the safety of the people. The NSPE completely supports the nationalization of militarisitic industries as well as the reorganization and reformation of the military.
The military must be under the authority of civilians meaning that you must not be part of the military in order to run for president. We believe that the military should be completely volunteer based and professional, with exceptions in the situation of "severe war". "Severe war", meaning a world war, war against invaders, or during a war in which our forces suffers more then 5,000 casualties. Conscription can only be ordered in a legally declared war.

Health Care:
We believe in the nationalization of Health Care through Omnicare. All citizens have a right to free medicine and hospitalization.

Equal Rights:
The NSPE strongly supports the equal rights of all able bodied human beings which includes, homosexuals, ethnic groups, women, etc. We support the elimination of hate organizations where ever they exist as well as racially or sexually motivated affirmimative action.

We belive that Gay couples should be able to adopt and have the right to a Civil Union.

Abortion:
The NSPE supports the rights of women to abort infants until the third month. If one is not able to take care of a child then one should be required to give up child for adoption, one must not be given any payment for giving up child for adoption.

Economy:
Publicization of the Industry is the only way forward to ensure the (more) equal Distribution of wealth. This will also safeguard the Environment and ensure that only the Highest Quality Products will get to the Consumer.

Education:
We belive that every Child should be able to go through Primary, Secondary and Universaty, in able to get a start in life. It is imperitive that we have University Educated Children as much as possible.

Education is extremely important to the progress of Eutopia, so the NSPE supports free education including college. We support the teaching of evolution and the elimination of ANY private schools, that includes all secondary schools that maintains a seperate cirruculum from the other schools. All Eutopians must attend school from ages 6-18 and must take exams for secondary education.

Economy:
Eutopia must nationalize all essential services needed by the average human being. In the case where government industry needs to be sold, priority should be given to worker cooperatives. There should be strict, and firmly enforced regulations on corporations and other businesses. The NSPE strongly supports the reform of income taxes based on the income of Eutopians. We believe in the implementation of a luxury goods tax in addition to VAT.

Death Penalty:
We are against the death penalty.

Welfare
We believe it is the right of every able citizen to work and make a fair wage. However the hostility inherant in the market-driven economy makes full employment impossible. As such there will always be those among us unable to find work. It is the role of government to provide a base income for these people in order to remain productive citizens of Eutopia

Environment
The preservation of the environment is of utmost importance, as a good and health in the present will be beneficial for the future. Preservation of our world mainly means the control and decline of garbage and other waste.

The government should encourage people to be fuel and energy-efficient, and should also encourage people to buy ‘green’ products. Instead of building more and more roads and airfields, the government should focus on public transportation.

A man dressed in a white lab coat with funny glasses steps in front of a podium as hundreds assemble in front of it. Flashbulbs go off as the man positions his microphone.

"Good evening. Today, I announce a substancial development that will save scores of Eutopian lives and enrich countless others, it is not a vaccine, it is not a treatment, but an actual CURE. Sadly, I am not a scientist and cancer still exists, and it probably will continue to exist by the time my grandchildren retire. The CURE I refer to is a political solution to the problems that have plagued us since the signing of the regency constitution."

The man takes off his prop glasses.

"I present to you the Conservative Union for a Renewed Eutopia. A party that will value human life, human rights, the rights of a family, and the obligations of mankind to nature. I vow to carry the torch lit by General Marcus Levarge, a man who has already been demonized by without issue by the same people who killed him. It was only fitting that the military would institute martial law, but look at the man himself. He was a General, and yet willing to cut the military budget. He was nominated by others to lead the CUE, he did not seek the position himself. He was a modest man of integrity and moral values who cared for his country and wanted to save it from cannibalizing itself. Let us not reward the left for murdering a good man. Let us instead walk together on the path to renewal, let us cure the land that we love so dearly. I urge you to be vocal in the drafting of the constitution, and I urge you to join me in drafting a party platform that will open new doors for people and close the wounds that have brought harm to our nation."

The cameras zoomed in.

"My name is Anthony Garibaldi III, and my name brings uneasy feelings to some people, and for many years, I was ashamed of my own name, but I assure you that my beliefs differ from those of my late father on many issues, including the environment, trade, energy, and drug reform. We now live in a state of limbo, between governments, between constitutions, where all we have are ideas and all are equally acceptable. Anything can be done, anyone can be the next Benjamin Frankin or Robespierre. I am not running for office, and I only seek to get you all to vote your consciences. Let us right the wrongs of the past together, so that our children may have a future."

He extends his arm and grabs a flag that looks very similar to Eutopia's pre-secession flag.

"Now is the time. This is the cure."

The Levargist Democratic League believes in the continued growth, stability and union as originated during the Gen. Levarge years. At the same time we support the democratic institution. We believe in human rights, free press, and free elections.
But most of all we believe that political action and strength of will can make possible for our government to continue in Democracy what a military coup painfully started.

-The LDL believes strongly in Nationalism.
Eutopia is our Country, the Land in which our fathers lived, or the land where we came to seek comfort and a better life. Eutopia is the land in which our sons will live.
The Nation is sacred by our history, our institutions are the
expression of our liberty and will.
We ask National sentiment to be promoted as much as possible, from young children to all levels of society, for only a Nation with a strong spirit of Unity can flourish.

-Law enforcing
A society is only as good as its laws, drafted and approved according to the Constituion. A strong society is the one able to enforce the law in all its aspects, without dinstinctions of any kind. We envision law enforcing agencies of all levels able to operate effectively, to lay the founding stones of our society.
We believe the full extent of the law should be applied to serious crimes, such as crimes against the state, property and the individual. We are for the death penalty.

-Above all else, as nationalists, we believe there is only ONE Eutopia for ALL Eutopians.
The Eutopian island is now divided into three nations, three entities born over the impossibility of past governments to give equal chances of prosperity to every Eutopia inhabitant.

We don't accept this division. The three states must be reunited, and the only possible way is by diplomacy and goodwill. If the United Provinces of Eutopia can move onwards to prosperity, a reunification with our brothers of Tilapia and St.Esprit can be reality.

We seek to join forces with other newborn political forces that may have similar orientations.

Colonel Bradstreet reads the manifest about the LDL. After reading it, he is thouroughly pleased by what he reads. The poster leaves no name, but Bradstreet makes a note of the poster, and continues on. The LDL seems like a perfect home for him.

"Well, Per Smith, their party invokes the name of General Levarge to stir up a nationalistic frenzy, while the CURE is named after the party that Marcus Levarge led before his coup, but not after the General himself. I believed it would be a disservice to his legacy to name a party after him, so I didn't do so. The ideologies do seem to be rather similar, though. I would avoid using the term democracy, though, for the time being. We don't know what route Eutopia will go. Constitutional Monarchy or perhaps a Federal Republic."

"I'm not worried. My father taught me everything he knew about journalism, and the CURE's publications will be superior. I'm certain that we will be the dominant voice of the right, but I'm still open to an alliance and not against discussing a merger."

He took out a cigarette and began to puff away. It seemed the pressure was getting to him.

"Per Sykes approached me about the latter, but I couldn't accept."

GOAL: To provide a conservative, but nonetheless sane, honest party to represent the people’s interests.

Platform:

Nationalism and Culture:
The Eutopian Nation is a melting pot of many cultures. However, all citizens are Eutopians first. They should all be treated equally, under the law. We cannot, however, prohibit private persons from disseminating media showing hatred to any group, as it would infringe on people’s civil liberties.

The Economy:
The EDP accepts the dollarization, and supports the right for the employer to make an honest profit, as it is he who invested in it. However, the proletariat deserves to be treated with dignity, and the unemployed should be encouraged to return to the workforce. We also support the use of the oil resources and to renegotiate any treaty monopolizing the industry.

The Government:
The EDP is a monarchist party, inasmuch as we campaign for the restoration of the monarchy. However, we do not campaign for an ancient regime monarchy, but one more like the Commonwealth Monarchies. We support keeping parliamentary democracy and a separation of powers.

The Military:
The EDP believes that new officers should lead the army, as the old officers have mostly supported the coup. We believe that the military should be well-trained, apolitical, and led by capable leaders.

Foreign Policy:
The EDP advocates strong ties to Europe and the United States. However, we cannot let them invade on our national sovereignty. the EDP also supports the efforts of the United Nations, and supports using a contingent of Eutopian soldiers for peacekeeping missions abroad.

Good sirs, we have three Conservative Parties, which will most definately lose to the united Socialists. What we need is for the three Conservatives to unify into one main Conservative party.
