The battle for supremacy... carrier warfare!
Jan 10th, 1952
The inevitable clash of the carriers occurred in the Caribbean. But it is not against Halsey but against Price’s five-carrier fleet again! Maybe this can be a good practice run before the real thing!
Grand Admiral Pryselov (Carrier Fleet of Khagans): We are engaging them! WE are attacking their carrier fleet! The tide has change!
In the short skirmish between 6 Mongol carriers against 5 more advance US carriers in the rainy weather, Price’s fleet were forced to withdraw westward after damage inflicted on his fleet . The Mongol fleet is battle-scarred too, two Mongol carrier ships CV-5 MKS Tabriz and CV-6 MKS Shangdu incurred battle-damage forcing them to return back to base for repairs after the naval engagement. Yet another carrier victory to the Mongols!
Haidav (Chief of Navy): The point is we WON! We mauled them! Go pursue them with your remaining carriers! We shall continue to proof our carrier’s worth!
As the US fleet fled west with Pryselov in pursuit, over land, Luvsan’s 2nd army captured the last of what Dominicans have by taking their capital Santo Domingo.
Jan 11th, 1952
While Pryselov is having fun with his carrier battles, Luvsan with his SAG Fleet of Khan attacks Dominican naval fleet that seems to be fleeing from port after the fall of Santo Domingo. The two navies met with explosive results! Explosive for the hapless Dominicans of course!
Grand Admiral Luvsan (Fleet of Khan): Bring glory to Genghis and the Empire! Let our guns loose!
Despite in night and rainfall weather, Mongol superior forward reconnaissance detected the 7-ship Dominican fleet and begin to engage them at a distance of 34km! It didn’t take long for the 20” and 18” guns of Super-Yamato and Yamato battleships in Mongol fleet to take them all out! MKS Genghis Khan and MKS Choybalsan alone claimed
four of the kills, more than half!
Back to the carriers, Pryselov carrier fleet catches up with Price’s fleet again. The risk is higher now since Mongol has withdraw a third of their carriers from within the fleet from damage of the previous encounter but support is expected to come from land based bombers.
But alas, all 20 naval bomber air-wings that are scrambled from along the length of Central American airbases converges off Tampa coast and was intercepted by US fighters based from Miami airbase!
Ulanhu (Chief of Airforce): WTF!! All naval bombers got held up!
Only those from Panama and Jamaica that took a different flight path avoided interception!
However, what got thru end up wandering elsewhere instead of directly assisting Mongol carrier fleet leaving Pryselov to grapple the situation alone of now 4 vs 5 superior US carriers!
Grand Admiral Pryselov (Carrier Fleet of Khagans): This is bad but we are gonna face it alone!
Grand Admiral Luvsan (Fleet of Khan): Don’t worry, we are coming full steam ahead to render firepower assistance!
In the ensuing carrier battle, the US fleet launches more dive & torpedo bombers to halt the Mongol carriers who unleash her airborne arsenal as well. The US bombers having the initiative struck Mongol carriers first! All four Mongol carriers are hit but
CV-3 MKS Khanbaliq and
CV-4 MKS Sarai got more than their fair share result in
the loss of both carriers!
Grand Admiral Pryselov (Carrier Fleet of Khagans): NoooOOO!! We gotta hit back! Their losses shall not be in vain!
His flagship
CV-1 MKS Subutai has already her top deck in flames peppered by US bomber bombs but
CV-2 MKS Karakoram is still relatively operational
managed to have her bombers take out enemy carrier
USS Forrestal before Pryselov gave the order to withdraw east! Only after this withdrawal, some Mongol airforce appeared. One more damaged US carrier, 1st CV Division is sunk by them but a little too late to save the sunk Mongol carriers.
In this engagement, Mongol lost two carriers for US one! But this is not enough to deter the Mongolian navy as SAG Fleet of Khan rushes to the scene of carnage to render assistance and salvage the pride of Mongol Navy!
Grand Admiral Luvsan (Fleet of Khan): The carrier losses shall be avenged for sure! Mark these words, Price!
But their losses are not in total vain as Mongol managed to hit back with vengeance! A sole dive bomber from MKS Karakoram managed to weaned pass USS Forrestal’s barrage of AA fire and landed a 500-kg ordnance into the stern of the carrier igniting stored fuel resulting one quarter end of the carrier being blown away rendering the engines totally inoperational. The ship begin to list rapidly and swallowed by the sea in a few hours!
As the Mongol carrier withdraw, their first lost in three battles against Vice Admiral Price, the aerial battle over Tampa bay started to become an aerial bloodshed!
Ulanhu (Chief of Airforce): The bulk of my naval support crafts are being punished harder and harder as more and more US planes descend upon the area off Tampa bay! Oh Khan!!!!
Why is this happening?!
o
The lightly defended Mongol CAS and naval bombers are ripped upon by US fighters and bomber escorts! The number of US air divisions from four became 28 and before end of the day, is a staggering 36 divisions against the same 20 Mongol air-divisions not honed for aerial combat and also lacking any air commander! Mongol air leaders, Air Marshall Smushkevich and Zhalnin are with their respective airgroups based in Panama and Jamaica that are not intercepted. A double blow for the Mongols! Three naval bomber air-wings are totally destroyed with the rest badly damaged! The damage is extensive enough to render the air fleet in-operational for 1-2 months!
Grand Admiral Pryselov (Carrier Fleet of Khagans): Where is my freaking air-support?!
I went into battle outnumbered expecting aerial support!
Due to further communication breakdown, the twelve airwings that escaped interception instead of continue engaging Price’s fleeing fleet, either lost him or end up engaging the wrong fleet such as Zhalnin’s taking on of a destroyer fleet south of Miami! WTF??!
Haidav (Chief of Navy): This is a sham! Total disgrace! Our numerous aerial naval power failed to support us at the critical moment resulting in two carriers lost!
I have to count on the Fleet of Khan to rescue our carriers and pride!
Grand Admiral Luvsan (Fleet of Khan):
I am coming! Khan is COMINGGGGG!!!
BATTLESHIP VS. CARRIER NEXT!! Khan must save the day!!
