USA, 1923.

I started off slowly, just getting the Manifest Destiny and being mostly peaceful, adding the Americas to my SoI. The Dutch declared war on Brazil, though, and got help from France, so I jumped to the aid of my ally Brazil and before I knew it, both the Netherlands and Brazil had signed peace and I was just fighting France (Greenland being the main theatre of war). I demanded French Guyana, to get a naval base in South America.
Next up, a war with the United Kingdom. They didn't have gas, machine guns or bolt-action rifles, so it was a massacre and I got Washington and Bermuda.
My factories were producing more than could be sold domestically (apparently), so I went on a massive colonisation spree, that got me most of Africa (the French and Spanish parts barely have inhabitants) and pretty much all the Pacific isles, including the ones north of Japan.
Finally, France tried to annex Egypt in 1917 and I jumped to their aid (because I have the Suez Canal and would rather have Egypt next to it than France). Egypt surrendered before I could counterattack, but it came back as a single province nation when the war was over. I also demanded Normandy from France to keep a base close to those sneaky bastards :D .

Score is:
Prestige: 3759
Industry: 6858
Military: 8421
Total: 19038

Other fun things include an independent Catalonia, communist Modena and Hamburg and four Portugese attempts to conquer Zulu.

This is my first Paradox game, and I must say, haven't had this much fun with a video game in years :) (despite the canned food).
 
I hope the British AI is encouraged to lay off China a little in the next patch and focus on Africa more.

Other than Denmark and Elsaß-Lothringen, I managed to unite Germany peacefully by wrestling states from Austria's SoI through the power of diplomacy. I had Germany united by 1958, so I went on a conquering spree and DoWed Austria, totally occupied it and made them release every nation they could, then annexed Austria proper and Böhmen-Mähren. France and UK tried to contain me a few times in the 1870s, result: I acquired Helgoland and sunk most of the British navy, and all of the UK is filled with rebels.

All this in the time when Germany just got to defining itself as a nation in RL, and hardly managed to stand up to half-assed french provocation.

Also note how historical colonial powers appear to all have an aversion to colonising africa at all.

Well its quite plausible that China would have been divided by the great powers considering the weakness of the Manchu Dynasty.

Weak or not, I'd think Africa would be at least a slightly more viable target?

That looks like an extremely fun game. Britain being overrun by revolutionaries is kind of sad, but in Africa at least I see colonization by France, UK and Portugal going beyond their starting colonies. The outcome of your unification wars is also historically plausible and must have been fun to play. (I like your Balkanization of the Balkans, and the way you realized the Grossdeutsch unification :) )

Does your smiley say that you don't find it fun?? :confused:
 
How the hell do you guys manage to liberalize your countries like that?
I usually get as far as HM's Government, then Liberalism becomes a failed ideology and decreases to <5% in the upper house, then communists swarm and take over. In ALL my games. :wacko:

Well, the chances were if a small war in the Balkans hadn't ballooned, the war that likely would have occurred would have been over China: whether land or trade rights. With the collapsing empire, the vultures of Europe and Japan were circling.

got all of South America in my sphere, annexed Haiti and built the Panama canal.

just finished building a metric ton of tanks and dreadnoughts and I'm planning on annexing USCA by force since Mexico seems to really like having them in their sphere, then I'm gonna humiliate and cut Mexico down to size since they keep declaring war on me trying to make me admit hegemony (I just blockade them until they accept white peace)

ALL the European great powers are at war right now (mostly with each other) so the game is running really slow ;_;

it's gonna take a while :3

Which OS? I think in Vista there's an AppData folder somewhere (XP puts it directly into the one under Program Files, right?)
