Henri de Navarre, during the French Wars of Religion, had an opportunity to march on Paris. However, he was interested in sleeping with Gabrielle d'Estrees, whose father wanted to be mayor of Chartres, so Henri took that city instead of the capital. He did manage to get Gabrielle in bed--she'd be his mistress until he died. This whole incident led to one of the immortal laments in any academic biography: "Unfortunately, we have far more details concerning the surrender of Chartres than we do concerning the surrender of Gabrielle."
