The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

The Soviet Union, wary of growing instability within the Empire of Japan and in response the subsequent collapse of all meaningful governmental functions of that state, has acted in a rational and responsible manner to safeguard its Pacific coastline from the vendetta playing out between the Japanese Emperor and his naval command staff. We consider the establishment of a Pacific buffer zone via the reincorporation of the remainder of Sakhalin Island and the Kuril Islands, which had for a time remained under Japanese occupation following their unlawful wartime seizure, to be fully in keeping with rational policy regarding our national defense and a vital safeguard against further instability darkening our shores, given the Japanese naval command's known and constant advocacy of conquering our Pacific coastline. While we do not hold the Japanese Emperor responsible for the rogue actions of the Imperial Japanese Navy's commanders, who have proven their disloyalty to their nation very recently indeed, we nevertheless find ourselves disturbed by the reported mobilization of a new Imperial Japanese Army on the heels of the Red Fleet's victory over the rogue Japanese Navy.

As such, the Soviet Union hereby issues this formal notice. Following receipt of this diplomatic communique, the Empire of Japan has seventy-two hours to reverse its ongoing process of mobilization and enter into negotiations regarding the future status of the disputed territories. If the Japanese Emperor fails to issue the demobilization order within this time period and register his intention to begin negotiations, the Empire of Japan shall be subjected to catastrophic destruction, of a magnitude unprecedented in the history of warfare, from a distance beyond which it is capable of effectively responding.

The seventy-two hour period begins now.

UNITED STATES
of America

Over the past two years, the Soviet Union and its satellites and puppets have spread unprecedented death and destruction, causing civil wars in Vietnam, China, India, and now launching a direct attack on Japan. It has continue to escalate and cause bloodshed across Asia, condemning so many innocent souls to the suffering of war, a war the Soviet Union wishes to subjugate the continent to its expansionist aims. The United States has committed to defending Korea, has intervened to protect Vietnam, continues to aid China and India, and has provided relief to Japan in its time of need.

Now, we call for a special session of the United Nations Security Council, and for the Soviet Union to cease its threats, ones carrying terrible implications, and to withdraw back to within its borders. If these requests are not met, the United States will be forced to consider its options for protecting Japan, including the deployment of US military forces to the country. If the Soviet Union wishes to be treated on the world stage as a peaceful and productive member of the international community, this belligerence must stop. Minister Gromyko, cease your threats, and come to the negotiating table.

Federal State of Austria
Bundesstaat Österreich

This past year has been one of a great shift within direction for our Austrian State - away from certain ventures, and a push towards a new age, a modern age. From this point onward, I declare ourselves to be treading an improved path, one that leads us to glory through means applicable to our new world. Science will be fostered, as Austrian minds work to demonstrate our grand intellect. Our culture will be showcased as a bastion for enlightened and inspired works of art. Economic might shall be ours, as our markets work to spread the image of Austrian engineering and finesse.

It is with this path in mind, and with the successes of our Italian brothers in the same affair, that I hereby petition The Council for Mutual Economic Assistance for the admittance of the Federal State of Austria into its fold.

- Chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg

The Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON)
The Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, meeting in special session in Ankara, is pleased to announce its acceptance of the Federal State of Austria's petition for inclusion into this trade organization and hereby establishes the Austrian Federal State as a full and formal member of COMECON.

We welcome our Austrian brothers to the shared cause of international prosperity and look forward to working with them in the coming years.

Given the continued Soviet aggression against China and Vietnam, which has now expanded to include India and Japan, the nations of the Organization of American States must act. An organization that is founded on the principles of freedom and democracy cannot do nothing in the face of evil. As such, Venezuela puts forward a motion to the OAS Permanent Council that would require the Secretariat for External Relations to provide material and financial support to organizations that seeks regime change in the Soviet Union and other communist countries.

After consultation with the United States of America, only the Republic of El Salvador approves the motion set forward by Venezuela.

In response to the aggressive remarks from Venezuela Czechoslovakia puts forward a motion to the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance Council that would require the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance members to provide material and financial support to organizations that seeks regime change in Venezuela and any other highly relevant South American nations backing these remarks and making empty threats against Czechoslovakia’s, as well as other countries’, integrity without any justification.

It is in Allah’s will for there to be peace upon the earth. Islam is a religion of peace,
And as citizens of an Islamic Republic, Pakistanis should seek to upkeep a state of harmony in themselves and in their neighbours. We therefore ask the pardon of Allah, and his guidance, for the forthcoming years of bloodshed and war. The Lord has guided us thus far, and we will not be misled under his protection.

It is time that all Muslims take up arms against Communism, wherever they may find it. Let Allah guide you out of oppressive communist states, and let him give you courage in the battle against the Socialist devil that is violating the neutrality and peace of more and more lands and unlawfully occupying places that many call their homes.

Muslim brethren across the world, the time has come for breaking the shackles of communist oppression. Muslims in India – harm not your fellow law abiding citizen, but instead direct your righteous wrath towards the communists, funded by Moscow, that seek to destroy you and what you hold dear. Muslims of Africa do not bow to oppressive ideologies. Let your lands be free of Socialism and Genocide. Muslims living in the lands unlawfully occupied by the Soviet Union – see your government for what it is, an illegal organization of crime. Rise up, my Islamic brethren, and throw off the shackles of the oppressive regime of hate.

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

The Soviet Union does not now, nor does it ever, seek to issue "threats" in order to coerce the actions of sovereign nations, but rather preferred in this instance to enumerate the potential consequences for non-participation in the diplomatic process. Given the Empire of Japan's erratic actions and tendency toward violence, which culminated in the latest series of unfortunate events, the Soviet Union issued its ultimatum purely out of concern that the Japanese Emperor would refuse the course of rationality and continue his previously displayed bellicosity. Now that the United States, a generally rational power, has intervened to ensure Japanese participation in negotiations, we are quite satisfied and therefore withdraw our previous ultimatum. I thank Secretary Dulles for his role in ensuring a peaceful diplomatic process, even if his perceptions of events is perhaps not entirely accurate.

First session of the Iranian parliament in 1956

The weather outside was chilly, and most members of the 136-member body were shivering from the cold as they entered the building. But that did not in any way supress the jubilant sphere that dominated the Representatives of the Nation, who were officially not yet informed about the results of the referendum in Bahrain, but all knew the outcome. After the roll call, parliament was officially in session. The Speaker of the Majles, Ayatollah Abdol-Ghasem Kashani, immediately went over to the first order of business...

"Firstly, I would like to yield the floor to the Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammad Mossadeq, who is to inform us of the results of the Bahrain Referendum."

Without missing a beat, the aging Head of Government accepted the yield and took the floor.

"Honoured Speaker and Representatives,

Before I shall speak to you about Bahrain, let me first shortly speak about the United Kingdom. It has not been long ago that the United Kingdom was playing the role of imperialist master over Iran. It was the last user of slave labour in our country, and it controlled our oil reserves stringently. It had kept dangerous men such as Zia'eddin Tabatabaee and Ahmad Qavam in power so it could suck the blood of our nation. However, this Britain is no more. The new United Kingdom has emerged as a force of justice in the world, and it has acted as such in regards to Iran and its former colonies. Instead of leaving its colonies, it has first seen to it that the instruments of government are present. And instead of placing an unpopular government in Bahrain, it has entered talks with His Majesty, and he secured a deal on Bahrain's future which the British have honoured. Gentlemen, we should not keep looking into the past to orient ourselves in foreign politics. We should look to the present, and move towards the future. And I say that we should look at how Britain treats us now, and not how it treated us in the past, so that we can establish a relationship based on friendship and understanding, not on hatred and grudges.

I have been informed by His Imperial Majesty that on the island of Bahrain, the referendum has been observed as free and fair, with no serious irregularities. An overwhelming majority of the adult male population turned out to vote, and an overwhelming majority of them has cast their ballot in favour of reunification with Iran-"

A standing ovation blanked Dr. Mossadegh's voice out, and he used the opportunity to take a pause and drink. After the MPs had settled down, he continued.

"An overwhelming majority of the adult male population has cast their ballot in favour of reunification with Iran. Furthermore, the British Government has included Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb in the territories it intends to transfer to Iran. Today shall live in the long history of our great nation forever, for a colonial injustice is undone here. Gentlemen, a copy of the law is being distributed to you right now."

All members of parliament and the chair received a copy of the following law annexing Bahrain, Abu Musa, and the Tunbs into Iran. Immediately after debating time was called, a motion came in to advance to voting procedures, which was entertained and then all 136 deputies voted in favour. The law passed, and Bahrain was now a part of Iran. The next morning, it appeared in the official government newspaper.

Spanish! Our nation begins without any doubts to rise from the ashes like a Western Phoenix! Since his acceptance of the task to lead Spain, our Caudillo has wisely guided us through the path of growth, and the proof is the increasing confidence of many foreign countries in our economic possibilities. But knowing that the Spanish people is proud and mature, Franco has just formed a stable government for our nation that will allow us to enter modernity without the traumatisms that other countries suffered.

Republik Indonesia

Citizens of Indonesia,

I am very glad to say that the first elections in Indonesia have proceeded smoothly and I, Muhammad Hatta, am your humble president. As stated in the National Democratic party ideals, we, the government are making efforts to better our current foreign relations and create new and lasting relationships with other nations. Regarding Japan, we also applaud the work of democracy there, although we currently do not wish to comment regarding the situation with the Soviet Union.

Regarding domestic matters, the expansion of Indonesian industry is welcomed. The committee that was recently formed has so far, ably done its tasks and hopefully in the future it will continue to do so. It is my hope that anybody that wishes to work in the field of industries will find employment there and that is one of the most important tasks of the Committee on Industrial Development. On the recently created universities, we are pleased to hear that universities in Medan and Balikpapan are now accepting students and hope that those that wish to expand their knowledge will go to these universities.

Regarding the plans of the government this year, the government will continue expanding Indonesia's industry to make further use of the abundant natural resources in our great nation. In addition to that, the government also looks to continue the improvement of the educational facilities in Indonesia or the health services available to Indonesians currently.

We hope that this year will be a stable year for all Indonesians and this has been your president, Muhammad Hatta.

~President Muhammad Hatta

His Imperial Majesty The Heavenly Sovereign of the State of Japan, 124th in His Line
天皇陛下万歳

It is with great urgency that I speak today.

Never before in the history of Japan have We faced the crisis that We are presented with today. In the wake of great political upheaval, and the re-awakening of the Japanese national spirit and in determination to remove the corruption that plagued the cadres of Our political institutions, We have witnessed the first glimpses of democracy in over close to three decades' time. We see the flowering of democracy and freedom in Japan in the wake of the removal of corrupt government officials and trusted military officers who, consumed by their own earthly greed for material possessions of wealth and power, sought to benefit themselves at the detriment of the Nation and the People. With them now forever gone from their damaging positions of power, We may start anew once again.

But during the period of political transition between governments -- which was smoothly, effectively managed without bloodshed or violence -- from uncertainty to the re-establishment of the Diet as the chief democratic institution of the Nation, we see those that would see the undoing of our Nation come and strike us at our time of self-reflection and internal re-organization. Though, despite the best attempts of Minister Gromyko of finding "justification" for the actions of his people's military, the southern half of the Island of Sakhalin and the Japanese-controlled Kuril Islands were recognized, both by the Soviet Union and by the rest of the international community, as rightfully Japanese, and barred from occupation by Soviet troops due to their nature of falling within the realm of Japanese control. And who was it, then, that seeks to, in the words of Minister Gromyko, "refuse the course of rationality"? Was it the Japanese People who, by their will and their will alone, toppled the monopoly of power that the heads of the military maintained, once again introducing democracy to the Nation, ridding our Japan of years of corruption and repression of certain ideals? Or was it the nation that, unlawfully and repulsively, sought out the illegal occupation of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands and, like an opportunistic vulture eying its prey with glee, attacked a Nation and its People during a period of political transition? And perhaps it comes as a surprise that the Soviet Union, very clearly known for its actions on letting its people enjoy the rights of Man so enjoyed throughout the rest of the free world -- the freedom of speech and the right to national elections, which cannot be found in the annals of the history of the Soviet Union -- has very clearly and openly disregarded the international laws agreed by every nation and, with no prior provocation -- and no true justification for their actions -- they deployed troops to the Southern end of Sakhalin and the Japanese Kuril Islands, killing Japanese citizens, destroying Japanese property, seizing Japanese territory, and violating the very sovereignty of Japan. And it comes as no surprise indeed that the Soviet Union, with a government so used to getting its way through the acts of brute force and violence and threat of death and destruction, is surprised when the very nation it attacks moves to defend itself: they would rather deem these actions as "unjustfiable" and "irrational" in the face of threatened destruction.

It is quite clear that Premier Khrushchev and his Minister Gromyko are well aware of the grievous crimes they are committing against the People of Japan and, through its blatant violation of intenational law -- and their inability to care that they are committing such actions -- the international community itself. We all bear witness to the destruction forces supported and aided by the bullets and bombs of the Soviet factories; we witness the deaths of millions in the China that is so embroiled in total conflict; we bear witness to the war between the democratic Emperor of Vietnam and the unrelenting men under the command of Ho Chi Minh; and we bear witness to the communist rebels that, directly aided and supported by the Soviet Union and the Comintern, shoot and slaughter their opponents, whether soldiers, bureaucrats, farmers, women, or children. We bear witness to the Soviet Union's unwillingness to commit to the negotiation of territories through peaceful diplomacy, as their government would much rather attack, with no prior warning and no justification, the internationally-recognized lands of a sovereign nation. The Soviet Union stands as a country so "opposed" to imperialism, and then very blatantly commits the very act when the opportunity presents itself. Premier Khrushchev is the ultimate hypocrite in the "war against imperialism and oppression", as he and his communist supporters would likely put it, even when he reigns as a tyrant over the oppressed peoples of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Yes, it is quite clear that the Soviet Union has no care whatsoever for its actions, as long as the few bureaucrats and statesmen at the highest ranks of their government benefit; they could otherwise not care if they send thousands to die, and break the international laws, and defy the wishes of millions the world over. They have threatened the absolute destruction of the Japanese Nation; hear, hear, they have threatened the destruction of Japan, should we not comply with their very clearly reasonable and rational demands. They would sooner call Us, the Japanese People, insane for Our actions to defend our Nation, rather than to sign away our lands and witness the destruction of Our Homeland. See how they have slaughtered your sons! See how they have killed, in many numbers, your husbands and brothers! See how they have threatened the complete destruction of a sovereign and democratic nation in the nuclear fire that they so proudly -- and so arrogantly -- tout as the strong arm of Communism! See how they cause mayhem across the entirety of the Asian continent, supplying and supporting the murderers of entire families! See how they have imprisoned the men we have sent to liberate our lands, and hold them at ransom for their lives! See how they seek to plunge the world into despair and darkness, and seek to once and for all destroy the free world, the democratic world, and any and all remaining ideals that would oppose the truly evil tyranny of the Communist states!

The face of Communism is not as Premier Khrushchev or Minister Gromyko would make you believe; the face of the Communism that we see occupying our lands and killing the Men of Our Nation is the face that sends to the cold of Siberia any and all that oppose their rule or questions their judgment; that Communism is the face that ignores the laws of nations and kills and invades indiscriminately in the name of "the people"; that Communism is the face that destroys and threatens to destroy anything they find to be an obstacle to their final goal of global domination. That is the face of Communism.

And still, even in Our unpreparedness for the unprovoked and dastardly attack upon our Nation, the last ships of the Japanese Navy dealt a crippling blow to the Soviet Navy. But even then, the Soviets showed no mercy and, in their conquest of Japanese lands, they destroyed every ship of the Combined Fleet. But the sacrifice of the bravest of the brave shall never be forgotten; nor their dedication to their families, their Nation, and the Japan that has, and shall forevermore, stand resolute in the face of the aggressive policies of those that attack it.

And let us not forget the actions of the Chinese government -- that very government that, just several years ago, we aided with much-needed arms, and training, and international support. They too have attacked Our Nation, and have stabbed Us in the back so gruesomely. The actions of that government, and their betrayal of Our trust, shall not be soon forgotten.

And now, We call upon the nations of the world to come for the sake of Asia. We call upon every Man in every free nation in the world; every person in the free world, in every democratic society, to come to the aid of Asia. We call upon the international community to condemn, unanimously, the dreadful actions of the Soviet Union and its despicable government. We call upon every member of the United Nations to come forward and enact a peace in which the rightful Japanese lands are thus returned to Us. We call upon the whole world, together in support for one another as a Brotherhood of Nations, to come to the aid of the Indian child whose parents and older siblings were executed by Soviet-supported communists; to come to the aid of the suffering Chinese man that struggles to feed his starving family in a war that has claimed over one-million lives; to come to the aid of the Vietnamese Emperor that seeks to maintain his democratic institutions in the face of the offensive of the Viet Minh; and to come to the aid of Japan in its time of need. We cannot squabble over the petty differences of our people and our politics at a time like this. We must stand resolute, now and forever, in the face of tyranny and oppression. That time is now.

The People of Japan shall defend what is theirs. We shall not back down in the face of the petty threats of the Soviet government; We shall fight until Our territorial integrity is once again fully restored and the Soviet military withdraws from the Japanese lands in Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. And if we are to suffer, then we shall not do so ignominiously and with hatred, but we shall do so because we know it is right, and just; for if we fail here, today, then the whole free world shall be plunged into darkness. And if I am to die here, today, in this Nation that I so love, then that would be too bad; for We are all born, and must die one day.

Let Us -- the whole of the World -- therefore brace ourselves for our duties, and stand steadfast in the face of violence and destruction. My brave people, do not despair; We must celebrate the cause, and for the rejuvenation of Our national spirit.

May Japan flourish forevermore, and may the free world forever unite in brotherhood in the defense of democracy.

The Government of China's actions, in regards to the liberation of Taiwan, are wholly within the principles of international law and the prerogatives of the Chinese State. The Government of China has continuously laboured for the expulsion of foreign powers from Chinese soil and the destruction of the Unequal Treaties to which the Chinese people were enslaved. Acting on those same principles of national self-determination and anti-imperialism which motivated earlier actions, namely the restoration of Hong Kong and Macau to their rightful place within the Chinese State, and the settlement of treaties with Western nations on an equal standing, the Government of China embarked on the liberation of Taiwan to right the historical injustice of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, which saw the Chinese territory of Taiwan, under duress, transferred to the Empire of Japan. With our success in this operation, the last of the Unequal Treaties has been settled, and, over a century since the Treaty of Nanjing, the taint of foreign imperialism over China has been eradicated. Taiwan has been reincorporated into the State of China as Taiwan Province, and Chen Cheng has been appointed as the province's first Governor. We call upon the Empire of Japan and the international community to recognise the incorporation of Taiwan into the State of China, a claim that has been diplomatically maintained by the Chinese State since the 1911 Xinhai Revolution. The Government of China does not consider these actions to be in contravention of the Treaty of Mutual Friendship and Cooperation between the State of China and the Empire of Japan, and the principles specified in Article 4 of the Treaty shall be applied to Taiwan.

Voting Fraud in Northern Ireland

Az9zEQP.png

Election results of the 1955 election.

Following the subsequent past two elections, in Northern Ireland Sinn Fein have won 8 out of the 12 seats. This is an astounding accomplishment for any party in Northern Ireland. And it is even more amazing when one examines the statistics. Below is the census statistics of Northern Ireland from 1951.

5q2KvQg.png

Northern Ireland is rather unique in that its population vote more upon religious lines that what the actual parties offer them. Generally, the vast majority of Catholics vote for a nationalist party, Sinn Fein, while Protestants vote for a Unionist party, usually the Conservatives. As can be seen, Catholics make up just less than one quarter of the population of Northern Ireland. Yet somehow Sinn Fein has won two thirds of the Northern Ireland seats. This means either one of two things, there is either gerrymandering in favour of Nationalists, or, more likely, Sinn Fein is using fraudulent means to achieve victory in Unionist majority constituencies. This highly illegal activity not only denies the people of Northern Ireland proper representation but also distorts the legal process of the United Kingdom.

As a result, I announce that the recent election results in Northern Ireland are declared void. An Electoral Commission investigation shall take place looking into the issue. Once the commission has presented its findings, free and fair by elections shall take place to elect Northern Ireland MPs.
