I installed dies irae to 3.05 FTM and downloaded the patch for dies irae to enable it to become compatible with this version of FTM and it still does not work. everytime i start up dies irae it loads up to initializing maplogic then a popup comes up saying this: File exception:
Exception in: discfile.ccp, line: 433. Description: Could not open file: mod\Dies_irae_Dotterdammerung\map/trees.txt

What does this mean and how do i fix it? i am very frustrated at this point and need a quick fix fast to make the game work and to keep me sane.

Note: this is a repost from general board at the suggestion of other ppl.

Strange ... Its seems this file is included in the 2.04 beta patch, but not the 2.05, it this normal (it seems it is not the only one, by the way) ? DIG works here, but I installed the 2.05 patch on a previous 2.04 install ...

Quick Report and Question for all, First thing is Awesome! Simply Awesome, Love the flavor and added detail and events, spcial units, Avitars, just freakin Awesome. Second thing, I play on very Hard dificulty and I am curious if anyone else out there has been able to manage Russia on this level when they can build divisions in 6 days and hevay Tanks in 10 days gaining 90 man power a month and 1800 man power pool on top of supply issues. What a daunting task. So has anyone done it on Very Hard? Seems math matically impossible. Cheers...

Oh yea, Did I say this mod is Awesome :)

@AdmiralReven: try to include this file from vanilla map folder.

Oh ok. 3.06 is the next FTM patch though so was confused.

Yes my bad, I meant 2.06. I am tired this days with all the versions of stuff... I.C.E. 4.0, CMP 0.8, DIG 2.06, FTM 3.06, Dow Jones +0.35... ^^

I just reinstalled DIG, due to me installing file without keeping saves, so here is the process I used (which is the process described by Devildread, maybe a bit more detailed):

- Install HOI 3 (from a retail box)
- Install SF (from gamersgate)
- Install FTM (from gamersgate)
- Patch FTM to 3.04
- Patch FTM to 3.05
- Install DIG (from gamersgate)
=> all these install were made with the default path from the installers

- Download the DIG 2.05 patch (first page of this thread)
- Copy the Dies_Irae_Gotterdammerung_beta_2.05.rar file to the DIG folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron III\mod\Dies_irae_Gotterdammerung in my case, as I run windows 7)
- Extract it with 7-Zip (right-clic, 7-Zip menu, "Extract here"). When asked to overwrite a file, select "Yes to all"

When starting the game, and selecting DIG as the mod, it shows the appropriate checksum (IYJC).

Please note that you may have to change permissions to the DIG Folder when extracting files into it (right-clic, properties, uncheck the "read only", then on the security tab, modify, select your current user and check the first box (should be something like "total control", but I don't have an english-version windows, and I don't know this translation ...). This is true in Windows 7, and probably in Vista too.

The error:
Code:
File exception:
Exception in: discfile.cpp, line 433. Description: could not open file:

Appeared with a FTM 3.05 game and a DIG which has not been patched (or not been properly patched, I suppose).

DD will DIG 2.06 incorporate any of the lothos beta lua changes from http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...for-HoI-3-(Latest-Version)&highlight=beta+lua ?

I found when I installed the beta lua into DIG script it helped Japan and Italy AI naval invasions in China and N. Africa, due to lua making AI build more transports. I noticed in DIG before I installed the beta lua that Japan would not make any naval invasion and get stuck in North China and Italy would also lose very fast in N. Africa. There are many other changes too in the beta lua that make DIG actually more enjoyable. The full changelog on there shows eveything and I think DIG can benefit from many of the changes. Wanted to let you know before 2.06 gets official release.

It works, thanks.

@aexis: I won't incorporate the changes until they are official. I don't want to work twice on the same files.

First I would like to say,,, Thank you for making HOI Rock....

Also most as good as the old TRP,, I expect this to take it to the next level...

1st. As germany,,,, Russia is Kicking my azz,,, Good thing! They seem to take out finland very fast though..
It's nice though. I can barely build enough Troops to even get close to Moscow... Few more games,, I will get them..

2nd. I like to use to coup nation option in the intelligence section. May happen just a little to easily,, Just a little...

3rd. A-Historic option for Sweden. Can I get a chance to get them to join Germany?

If

Sweden Government = National socialism
Russian Threat = High
Norway = Axis Control
Finland = Axis Member
Denmark = Axis Control
London = Axis Control
Paris = Axis Control

As a reaction to use the next LUA:
As japan is not doing anything in the whole pacific maybe we could build a simple event as: for the costs of x supplies and x fuel japan annexes the original occupied islands. for the "feeling" of the game its more realistic. and an other event that will cost a lot of IC will place guards (heavy weighted) on the key cities to hold of the usa a bit? it could be an event so people that to not want this kind of "easy land" to go to the Japanese are able to cancel this. I'am sure a lot of people do want these kind of "tricks" to make the game more realistic and to see a lot more of the real world in 1942/43. Of course its much nicer to see japan is conqeuring those island but as long this (very basic part of ww2) does not work well this could be an temp solution. grz
Could this be done for the patch or to difficult?

It would be unfair and cause a lot of issues. If Americans have garrisoned their islands and Japanese spend IC/supplies on getting the province under their control, then the province will go back to Americans if they have a garrison there. And spawning Japanese units on the island would be simply unfair. Plus, if Japan is not conquering those islands, then it's unlikely that they'll be able to garrison them, as by that time Japan has lost its sea dominance and probably has the whole IJN sitting in a single port with no fuel.

Hey All,
So I have looked into this Russian fron thing and I am curious about the stacked effects on the russian side. FTM has incerted effects that bolster the Russians response to the invasion and these are stacked on top of the effects DIG has for the response of the invasin. The DIG effects are much larger than FTMs however when stacked they are nutz. I was wondering if this was maybe overlooked since DIG was originally built with SF in mind I think. If so is there a way to disable an effect maybe. I think the only saving grace at this point is that the russians will crank out so many units so fast the there officer ratio will be very low and ineffective. At any rate just thought I would throw it out for convesation and see what the intent was. DIG is still awesome :) I cant put it down.

PS:
Effects in question
DIG Solviet Defense Strategic effect
FTM Rodina Decision
FTM Great Patriotic war Decision

Leads to building units in 6 to 10 days

Currently, it's May 1941 and I'm at war with Soviet Union. Romania is in the Axis and is also at war with them. Romania is computer controlled and not doing to badly with some help from my troops.

Question: What exactly happens if I issue a 'CALL TO ARMS' in this case? Will I be able to manually control Romania's military?
Does it give me anything that I don't have now because Romania is all ready at war with SU? - Rick

Call to arms will make Romania (or the country you are calling) at war with EVERYONE you are at war with. So if Romania is only warring against SOV you will make it declare war on the Allies and maybe mess stuff up for them (since they might want to keep garrisons and stuff at home).
