Creating a Mercenary Company, where do the starting units come from?

If I create a new Mercenary Company, where do the troops come from?

I want to know if I can make the starting size bigger, if I temporarely increase my holding number way above my Demesne Limit.

i think its based on your personal levies, and culture.

if you have 0 possible levies, the formed mercenary band will have 0 troops

some cultures have different starting comps i think. i vaguely remember having horse archers with mongols, but maybe i am misremembering and those were only for the mercenary sons sent away
