aztec shepherd's crusade

I was playing as the daughter of Haraldr Fairhair and had just beaten back the Aztec armies in Britanny ( which I set up as an independent Norse kingdom), when the shepherds crusade fired, with as leader one of the Aztecs who had conquered France before I destroyed their armies (62 martial and picking off stacks can do a lot). the flavour text did say Huitzilopochtli instead of God, but I don't really think it would make sense for the Aztecs to launch a crusade for Jerusalem.

But the crusade failed? In my games the big crusader stack dies to exposure after waiting for 4 years in a random british island because they do not know how to use ships.

But the events telling the route and adventures of the crusader children still happens.

the only event I got after the starting one that was the one that it failed.

So umm. What's up with that Francia COA in Italy?

Francia got formed while also holding both Germany (East Francia)and Italy, then the Aztecs arrived and took Aquitaine and Germany after which I came in and took Brittany and West-Francia with a prepared invasion and set up some dynasty members as independent dukes or kings (Brittany) (I then proceded by destroying 100k of the Aztec armies with my 40k when they attacked Brittany and taking East Francia in a great holy war)
