The United French Communes
The United Communes take this moment to remind the German Empire that the whole of the Pact of Amiens, including the provisions demanding German surrender, are conditional upon German violation of signatory nations' borders and territory. Should Germany choose to acknowledge its grave error in disrupting the peace of Europe, demobilize its forces, and accept the rightful sovereignty and independence of its neighbors, there will be no need for armed conflict or further dispute.
The Pact of Amiens stands as a guarantor of those threatened nations' independence, to prevent the unlawful and unprovoked incursion against their people and governments by German forces. If the Hohenzollern Emperor wishes to avoid strife, he need only cease his current aggression and take the path of peace. Should he refuse to comply with this reasonable request, we shall join our strength to those of our Pact allies and prevail through force of arms where diplomacy failed. Whether this is necessary or not rests entirely on Germany's decision.
