The responsibility for the failure of this war, no matter how many yards of ground were gained, lies solely with Andonie and his incompetent Generals. The deaths of so many of Chile's finest could have been avoided, and should have been avoided. The words from Rivera to myself before the war shows just how incompetent and ignorant he is and was. Even had I not resigned, there would have been nothing I could do, as the brigades for the support army did not exist, and thus the lives of our soldiers would still have been lost due to Rovera's incompententness.
It is a travesty that in a country with such a strong liberal community, the convenience of political force against the socialist movement has allowed the ban on trade unions due to their political viewpoints continues.
All Trade Unions Allowed
((That was Araya's coup! Not mine! I tried to stop him but he wouldn't listen . I felt it was pretty much necessary that Araya try a reactionary coup even though it didn't have a very good chance of success because the character was so zealous. Also, Roseno has been honorable since the beginning. His resignation should probably have been expected.))
I would like to announce the replacement for General Roseno. After consultation with General Schmidt, the new General of the Support Army is Louis Maxmillian (syrania). I am sure he will be a sucess. I would also like to say a few words to General Roseno. I bear you no ill will despite your comments toards me. I know you were hugely disapointed but it was only a reprimand General, you wer stilll in charge of an Army and would have neen reinstated. I was very saddended that you decided to resign over this and hope we can remain friends.
With regard to the remaining Cabinet Post I am awaiting responses and shall announce this shortly, hopefully.
As a concerned citizen of our grand Republic, I feel that I need to place this statement to the people.
The sooner we take Argentina out, the sooner we can get rid of the Communist cells operating in the country, as well as take out de Caviezel's militia. If we delay the invasion, there is a real chance that they might make an "unholy alliance" of convenience bent on taking down the government. And if they unite and sense our weakness, they would strike with a rebellion unlike any we have seen since 1863.
Remember this old adage: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." That's what the Communist Red Guards/Citizen Guards are going to seek: enemies of the 3rd Republic. And de Caviezel's militia would be just the allies they need.
All Unions! No more will capitalists control the proletarian movement!
I also ask President Andonie to resign. He betrayed the ones who voted for him and wasted countless proletarian lives during an imperialistic war, never in Chilean history was a war so poorly waged. He isn't even able to keep control over his won party. Such a man isn't worthy of representing the nation.
