eutsland -When the Nuclear warning came many Germans fled westward into Belgium and the Netherlands, so much so that after the fallout from the exchange actually settled, the composition of the survivors was about an even mix between Flemish, Walloon, Hollander and German, and the habitable footprint didn't really match any one country's lands.

I should say that the game does not like empty provinces. You would have to get a Wasteland nation if you want some expansion.

Yes. There are two versions of Wasteland - 'soft' which is just territory with low fallout and people just haven't got around to recolonising. 'hard' is where direct nuclear events were.
I like what FoDD mod did. Name the general areas 'The Waste' (or similar) and give names to the special areas.

The idea for having a general "Wastes" is a good way to go. Meanwhile, areas of high radiation will be called something like, "The Fade"; and there will be special events if you reclaim/colonize them. Like infections, and radiation outbursts, making it hard to maintain control.

I'm tempted but I would be having a lot more 'hard' zones, so I'm thinking of verging on a generic variant as opposed to giving them all names. And yes. Neo-Tokyo is from Akira...
'Fade' area's are direct hits and are thus practically inhospitable. I might consider a late game technology to allow robotic exploitation of such zones, but nobody would be able to live in them - in effect they'd always be occupied territory to reflect this - but given the hardwaste nation currently has over 200 IC - I would say it's probably worth it!

That's the playable nations so far. I really need suggestions and thoughts for INDIA, CHINA, AFRICA and the MIDDLE EAST.
Currently planned - Sacred Kingdom of the Nile, Imperial Tripoli, Army of Christ the Redeemer, DPR Congo, Greater Kabinda, Great Zimbabwe, Oraanje Free Staat and Marlboro (don't ask) - but I need lots more thoughts for Africa especially, since mega-glom nations don't really work there (just look at the world today!)

May I suggest a Turkish faction called the "Brothers of Kemal". Like a progressive (for a post-Apoc) civilization
