Chapter XVI: The end of the 2nd American Civil War
On February 10th, 1943, Seattle was liberated by CSA troops – the PSA capitulated immediately.
After all Militias were dissolved, the CSA Army was a garrison heavy force. Time was needed before it would be strong enough to liberate New England from the iron fist of the Entente.
In addition the modern units of the CSN, capturing the United States bought parts of the US Navy home to America:
Battleships Pennsylvania and California; Heavy cruisers Salt Lake City, Indianapolis and Chicago; The light cruiser Detroit, a destroyer division, 8 submarine divisions and 18 transport ships divisions.
Battleship Pennsylvania
A massive modernization project was started:
Hull improvements, Fire Direction Systems, Improved AA batteries, Radar and seaplanes for the two Battleships.
Hull Improvements, Fire Direction Systems and Seaplanes for the three heavy cruisers.
Hull improvements and Fire Direction Systems for the Detroit
ASW systems for the destroyer squadron
Hull improvements and advanced torpedoes for the captured submarines.
The territories of what was once the United States where reintegrated and the political direction of Totalism was enforced.
Due to various political reforms, the reintegration of lost territories and other concerns, there was some unrest within the American population.
On March 30th, 1943, the Commune of France annexed Austria.
A few days later, Syndicalist Spain DOWed Portugal, while the Commune of France created a free, Syndicalist Austria.
Shortly after the Commune of France annexed the Kingdom of Bohemia, it invited the CSA to join the internationale. But at this point, it was too early….the CSA first had to fully establish her internal situation and to build up a stronger, professional land force before this step could be done.
Meanwhile, Syndicalist Spain annexed Portugal and Poland went after upper Slesia.
On June 14th, the German Empire collapsed – the Government fled to Saigon.
Eventually, a German Union came into existence as a member of the Internationale.
Meanwhile, the south of the CSA was terrorized by bandits.
On July 17th, 1943, Japan DOWed what was left of the German Empire.
On September 1st, the Commune of France annexed Hungary (two week later, it would be released as another member of the Internationale)
Bosnia followed one day later.
By the end of 1943, the unrest was under control and a massive build-up program was underway in order to have a large, modern land army by 1945.
