And much less micro managing. I would like some sort of defense in the vicinity of the JG, tho.

How is our tech situation. Any projects nearing completion (more specifically is my crazy namesake getting anywhere on his gas-cooled reactors?)

Hm. Interesting.
Why do you think the colony ships were able to assist-jump one cargo vessel at a time, but not two? Do you think it's a bug or is it something you overlooked?

BTW I'm toying with the idea of putting the jump drives on the cargo ships (or at least half of them) instead of the colony ships. After all these will get to do the round trip more often.

Oh I see. If you look at your jump drive design window and switch the type of drive between military and commercial, you get n size squadron for military drives, and (n-1) for commercial ones, where n is your current "max jump squadron size". I guess it's just one more of the penalties for designing a commercial drive.

Yea, I made the same mistake with my freighter group designs, sigh.

Doesn`t matter, we are expanding. And if we manage to keep Ärjylä from pulling a Leeroy towards Charlie, we might even survive. :D

You're enjoying commanding a freighter, aren't you? :p

Asteroid Lindgren? Bah, the Comet of the Platypus is a real mining operation, if it weren't for that frigging pink rabbit!

Is this really our most efficient administrator?

so how is Octavian Dorieus doing? :)

Octavius took part in the Great Leap Forward, so he is now included in the ranks of "Galactic Tourists"... previously limited only to scouts.

That's been on the back burner (positive but minimal funding) because we are focusing on getting those Tractor Beams developed so that we can build Tugs to move some of our Planetary Defense Complexes (Missile Bases etc) out to Mars and Dravar XV.

----------- ------------ -------------- -------------- ------------- ------------

So... what about the next re-supply mission to our new colony at Dravar XV? I see two decent options:

Option #1) another full-up mission, escorted by the entire fleet.

Option #2) break the transports and colonizers down into small (three-ship?) units and run a bunch of small unescorted missions, separated in time and space by a week or so, instead of one massive mission.

Other options don't appeal to me... I don't want to split the Battle Fleet into squadrons unless I have to, so I want to keep it together, either in escort or at Earth; and I don't want to run a massive mission without fleet escort.

Maybe go for Option #1 to bump the infrastructure and maybe boost the population a little to start with, followed by smaller unescorted missions as and when the colony needs more infrastructure/people.

The fleet can use jump & escort training. I vote coming along.

Freighters and Survey ships have done all the work so far. So: Yes. :p:D

Actually I see no threat to our holdings in Procyon, so I guess unescorted flights should be okay. We should simply make sure to have an active radar in the system to monitor the situation.

EDIT:

How long, until we can move troops?

I would like having the fleet back in Sol. Fleet is good, home is better.

That's the nub of the situation, right there. We DON'T have a monitoring station in the Procyon system, and it will be a while before we can have one. We either need to build the colony up to the point where they can build their own RADARs, or build an installation-type RADAR on Earth and ship it in (if that's even possible... not sure) or wait for Tugs and drag a RADAR-equipped Defense BASE to Dravar XV. Whichever option is used, it will take some time.

Re-tooling now. A couple of years, I expect.

@Commodore Arjyla: there are also five Freighters, one Colony ship and three Tankers still unclaimed. Add Pilot Matija to Fighter Squadron 1 (Wildcats)

Nice overview, maybe Emu can copy that to the first page. But I wanted my Freighter to be renamed to Hansa instead of Schnitzel.

Can`t a survey ship serve as Radar as long as there is no installation? But apart from that, Procyon is to the "left", while the only potential threat right now is to the "right". Our Fleet should guard Sol and commence training.
