Chapter 2: Renewing the Polish–Soviet War
Part II: Is the Mighty Red Army Really That Mighty?
August 28, 1939, Moscow, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
Stalin grew more nervous with every passing day. ‘War with Poland? With Germany as an ally to boot!’ Stalin was increasingly worried about the condition of his troops. Were they organized on the border already? Or did they need more time to get organized? War with Poland was now more than certain, but Stalin had no idea of when it would begin. Hitler’s finger was on the trigger and he was about to fire.

There was a knock at Stalin’s office door.
“Come in!”
Voroshilov opened the door and stepped in.
“Comrade Stalin, we have some good news!”
“What is it?”
“It would seem that our troops on the Polish border are already prepared for the fight!”
“Preposterous! How could our army be organized in one day?”
“We had stationed them there already for border protection. It seems that now they are going to do more than defend the border!”
“It’s a good thing that we stationed them on that border!”
“Indeed.”

Stalin was relieved, at first, to find that his army was already prepared to fight. However, he still questioned the abilities of the Red Army.
“How large is this army?”
“On each section of the front, we have a corps made up of two motorized divisions accompanied by an armored tank division.”
“WHAT? That can’t be enough to breakthrough into Poland! They probably have their entire army lined up on the border with us!”
“Actually, they only have one corps on our border. The rest of their army is on the German border.”
“Pshh… the fools! They think one insignificant corps is going to hold back the mighty Red Army? HA!”
“The Poles will never know what hit them comrade!”
“This may be true but…”
“But what comrade?”
“I don’t know why but at this moment, I question…”
“Comrade?”
“I question, is the mighty Red Army really that mighty? Are we way in over our heads?”
“Comrade, there is no way that the Red Army, that led us through the Great Revolution, is going to let us down in Poland. I can guarantee that!”
“Indeed. You are dismissed comrade. I want you to return to the front and continue our preparations for war.”
“Yes comrade! Right away!”

Voroshilov walked out Stalin, though reassured, still could not get over the feeling that something bad was about to happen.

As always, update tomorrow.

If one polish division will defeat the soviet army, I will laugh my ass off. And if it will be an infantry division, not even a cavalry which was good in Poland, I will laugh at Stalin till my head falls off.

And don't change the ARR. It makes the AAR piratey! YARR, me mateys! :D

Or a militan division. :D

But I don't think that this is going to happen.

Chapter 2: Renewing the Polish–Soviet War
Part III: A Heavyweight Championship in Military Arguments- Bock v. Küchler
August 29, 1939, East Prussia, German Reich
The soldiers of the Wehrmacht were moving ever nearer to the border. Poland had moved nearly its entire army to the border with Germany... a grave mistake. Poland believed that the Soviets would stand down as long as the war with Germany was stabilized quickly. This was to become the greatest blunder made throughout the entire war. The Polish had to choose wisely but even if they did, it would not be enough to stop the inevitable.
Colonel General Fedor von Bock, the commander of the German Army Group North, walked over to greet his generals who would lead the assault on Poland from the north and move south.

“Gentlemen, we are about to embark on a short war that shall be part of a much greater one.”
The General of Artillery Georg von Küchler, who was the commander of the German 3rd Army, stepped up. Bock continued.
“General Georg von Küchler, you have the pleasure of leading your 3rd Army into Warsaw, the Polish capital.”
“What of Danzig sir?”
“That is the task of the 4th Army. Shall I show you?”
“Yes sir.”
Bock and Küchler walked into a tent so that they could see the battle plan.

The German plan for the Invasion of Poland.
Küchler examined exactly what he was to do. Sweat dripped down his face and he wiped it off. Was it the heat of the lights that showed the map in the dark night or was it the fact that he was not sure if he agreed with the plan. Nobody knew, not even him.

“This is the battle plan?”
Bock seemed annoyed.
“Yes it is. Why?”
“Where are the Soviets? We’re allied so aren’t they invading?”
Bock cleared his throat.
“Yes, they are invading from the east practically unopposed so they really don’t need a battle plan other than marching.”
Küchler starred at the map for a while. He was unsure of the future. Was an alliance with the Communists, people who Hitler himself had condemned with a passion for the early years of the Reich, were now the people we could count on the most.
Bock saw the fear and unsure looks in his eyes. He wanted to know what was wrong.
“Wake up soldier! General of Artillery or not, I have superiority over you.”
“Sorry sir, I was just thinking.”
“Thinking what?”
“Well... I was thinking about how long this alliance with the Soviets will last.”
Bock wasn’t happy to hear such a freethinker was a General in charge of one of the armies.
“What are you talking about? Of course it will last!”
“But in the early days of the Reich, the Führer spoke that the Communists were our enemies. And now he goes and signs an alliance with them. It just...”
“Are you questioning the leadership of the Führer?”
“I’m just...”
Bock was enraged. His yelling could now be heard around the camp.
“I am this close to having you demoted! Now get out of my sight! You’ll lucky that you are still leading those troops to Warsaw. Didn’t you hear me? OUT!”
Küchler, upset and feeling a little rebellious, left feeling bitter. He went on saying in a grizzly, angry voice.
“Yes sir.”

Küchler walked out of the tent with rebellious thoughts and a newly grown hatred for General Fedor von Bock.

@Vesimir:Well, as far as I know the Red Army is in a ood position there.. I hope. As far as I know, this is an ARR because I can't change it!
@Kurt_Steiner: Probably not, but you never know. ;)

Chapter 2: Renewing the Polish–Soviet War
Part IV: Waiting for the Call
August 29, 1939, Western Pomerania, German Reich
As the 3rd Army was preparing their forces to charge into North Poland, the 4th Army had another job. They were targeting the Free City of Danzig, which was an area forcefully taken from Germany and turned into a city-state against the wishes of the local population. The local government of Danzig was prepared to willingly join the Reich if the war was declared. To the 3rd Army, it looked like a cakewalk. The question was, would it be?

General of Artillery Günther von Kluge, who was in charge of the 3rd Army, stood smoking a cigarette watching his troops prepare the front lines for the taking of Danzig and the southward drive.“Attention!”
The soldiers straightened up. Not one moved. It was perfect order.
“Soldiers! The time has almost come to attack the Polish scum that took land the rightfully belonged to us. Once the call comes from Berlin, we will march. We will fight. We will win!”
Everyone in unison shouted.
“YES SIR!”
“I don’t want to see one Polish soldier left with a gun in his hands by the time this invasion is over! Understand?”
“YES SIR!”
“I don’t want to see one Polish person living on land that is rightfully German!
“YES SIR!”
“And we shall do this in the name of the Führer!”
“YES SIR!”

Kluge continued to rally his men. He knew that if the troops know what they are fighting for, they will fight harder not to lose it. He and his troops began cheering the words that would soon be heard all over the Reich.
“Sieg Heil!”
“SIEG HEIL! SIEG HEIL! SIEG HEIL! SIEG HEIL!”

Kluge smiled, he had done his job. The troops were rallied and aggressive enough to rip through the Polish lines like they were tissue paper! The end of Poland had come. Kluge whispered to himself.
“The Führer shall be pleased.”
He and his men continued to chant as they marched closer to the Polish border. Their chanting was never forgotten.

“SIEG HEIL! SIEG HEIL! SIEG HEIL!...”

Will you actually be playing as either the Soviets or the Germans or some other nation?

Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize your neighbourhood
And whosoever shall be found
Without the souls or getting down
Must stand and face the Hounds of Hell
And rot inside a corpses shell ...

Yes, I listened to Thriller to get the rest of that. Yes I got the reference immediately. :p

For a moment I was afraid of seeing Adolf and Uncle Joe dancing Jacko-style among the ruins of Warsaw.

Chapter 3: Danzig or War? Hmm… decisions.
August 30, 1939, Berlin, German Reich
The letter came back. Poland had been sent a letter the other day from Germany, requesting the annexation of the Free City of Danzig. Hitler had a gun pointing at Poland while opening that letter, with his hand on the trigger. Alone, Germany could hold the Allies off for maybe a few years (Until, I don’t know, 1944 maybe) but with the Soviet Union on the other side of Poland and willing to help them against the Allies, the future of the Allies was looking grim… very grim.

There is a knock at the door.
Hitler sat at his desk, waiting for something.
“Come in.”
Ribbentrop walked into Hitler’s office, holding an envelope.
“Is that it, Ribbentrop?”
Ribbentrop nodded.
“Yes Mein Führer.”
“Hmm, give it here.”
Ribbentrop handed Hitler the envelope. Hitler took it and proceeded to open it.
"Well? What does it say Mein Führer?”
“We the people of Poland, respectfully wish to... decline your request regarding the annexation of the Free City of Danzig. We hope.... BAH! Foolish Polish! They do not realize what they have angered! I give them a simple decision, Danzig or War!! You know what this means. Call the men; we are at war with Poland!”
Ribbentrop was a little surprised, but inside he knew this had been coming. He nodded his head and started to leave.
“And Ribbentrop...”
“Yes Mein Führer.”
“Call Stalin, the time has come for the Polish to meet a two front war!”
“Yes Mein Führer.”
Ribbentrop walked out and closed the door. Hitler spoke to himself.
“Phase 2 is now in effect. The plan is working perfectly... hehehe.”

Hitler continued to giggle at the thought of what he had in store for humanity.

August 30, 1939, Moscow, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
Molotov stormed into Stalin’s office without a thought of knocking.
“COMRADE STALIN! STALIN!”
Stalin nearly fell out of his chair when Molotov came in.
“What is the meaning of this!?
‘Hitler has declared war on Poland!! That means we are also at war with Poland now!!!”
Stalin was silent. He tried to make sentences, but failed.
“We… We are… War with… WHAT?”
“War with Poland comrade! War with Poland!”
“Then don’t just stand there! Tell the Red Army! We must begin our advance! DO IT NOW!”
Molotov, horrified at Stalin’s yelling, stormed out of the room to get the message out. THE SOVIET UNION WAS AT WAR!

Chapter 4: We March Unopposed!
Part I: Easy Victories!
August 30-September 3, 1939, Eastern Poland, Poland
The first shots were being fired on the German front against Poland, but what about the Soviet front? Where is the Polish army? Gone. Believing that the Soviets would not invade, the Polish withdrew all their troops to the border with Germany. This was a mistake that would cause the fall of Eastern Poland… and soon the rest of Poland.
“Poland will fall in a month…” – Adolf Hitler

Stanislawow, the only sign of Polish resistance against the Red Army was found. The battle began and the odds were stacked against the Polish. 2 Polish Infantry divisions and a Mountain division were facing 4 Soviet Motorized divisions and 2 tank divisions. For the most part, the battle was decided before it began. After 3 hours of fighting, the Polish surrendered to the Red Army in the Battle of Stanislawow.

Flawless Victory!

1stcitytofall.jpg
Though Stanislawow was the first battle to end, Tarnopol province was the first to be occupied!

2ndcitytofall.jpg
Then came Baranowicze...

3rdcitytofall.jpg
... and Stanislawow fell third.

Resistance was now seen over the horizon, determined to free their occupied homeland. During all this, the German lines are met with heavy resistance... but not heavy enough.

Can Poland manage to survive?
Will France actually do something?
If Poland falls, what's next for the Soviet aggression?
Only I know these answers because I'm the writer.

@Vesimir: I thought the same way about that picture. I hope they didn't stuff too much hot air in his head, it might burst!
@PanzerMan7: Westerplatte was the first battle of the the European WWII front (as stated below). And of course I can beat your army... with my new one!

I AM INVINCIBLE!
@Vesimir: Thank you.
@Kurt_Steiner: We'll see...

Heh! Great ARR so far Crilly! :D
I just stumbled upon this one and caught up to the live action. Have had my head too much in EU3 H3T lately and forgot how much fun HOI2 can be. BTW: The subtle yet effective humor has made this AAR (ARR) very interesting. KaiserMuffin, I am surprised that you did not have Hitler eating a Muffin instead of a melon!

Adolf, awake, or Joe will eat all of Poland without you!
