Is westernizing as the Sikh Empire around 1876 good enough, or is there room for improvement? Playing NNM, but experience for Vanilla Panjab is also appreciated.
Additionally, what decides whether the AI wants to ally? This is in the 1890s now, but good alliances seemed to be nigh impossible beforehand, too.
I am in the UK Sphere - alliance is impossible most of the time, with (very) unlikely (and rarely a maybe) cropping up every now and then but vanishing quite quickly. Likewise Russia shows no interest at all. Persia dropped their alliance the moment i had a border with them (and now i conquered Khorosan and Isfahan, so no matter anymore). The only one i seem to have a chance at allying is China/current leading chinese substate, which is bad as i certainly don't want to be in their sphere (and the UK is not fighting much to keep me in theirs), and our common border is impassable.
Should i rather concentrate on GP, now that i have coal/iron, and hope for a russian alliance before the UK annihilates me?
