It's good to have you back, Saithis.
Thanks!
What happened to the Royal Navy, did the Germans seize it?
It's been split up, with around half of it going to Canada as loyalists. I took a pretty solid chunk (nearly 30 ships), a few other countries like South Africa and India got a handful, and the scant remainder went to fascist Britain. I decided that not only would giving Germany the ships make them an even bigger pain, but that it made sense for the relationship that had formed between Mosley and Hitler, who still viewed Britain as salvageable for his cause in a way that France (to Hitler) wasn't.
Oh thanks.
So, the areas in west africa you mention as GIE are in fact Canadian?
Also, did Free France conquer all that area the Germans were happy to name "Mittel Afrika" or again my monitor and my eyes betray me?
Yeap.
Well, the British troops who were in that area "defected" to the Free French. They'll probably secure that area for the Allies whithin a month.
What Gen. Marshall said. I actually outright gave the area to French Control since the units that defected to the French were the same ones who had secured the area in the first place, on top of the fact that fronts were just opened up against Egypt and Portugal, giving them more than enough to do for awhile.
Glorious! So when are we getting married?
When pigs fly (not in Minecraft).
Fascinating reading but dark days for the Allies. With Middle-Eastern oil firmly in Axis control, will the Soviets hold on?
I imagine Stalin is having kittens over the Japan-First strategy.
I have no idea, I imagine the Eastern Front is going to come down to the first six months. I think the biggest thing going in our favour is amusingly Sealion, because if I'm correct the German AI is probably going to see all of those troops its got on a now-friendly Britain and throw them away as expeditionaries to guard the empty country. This will include a bunch of armoured divisions that should help blunt his spearhead for a bit. If the Soviets can hold out until winter...given HPP's insane boosts to Soviet Wartime power, anything's possible. Either way, I'm sure Stalin is furious with us, but the simple fact remains that the US AI is unlikely to make any progress at all against the Germans, but is very likely to wipe out the Japanese if I can turn its attention to them.
Hi Saithis,
good to have you back. And get well ASAP.
A most interesting situation for the Allies... Still, I`m confident that the Australasian whatever will launch Operation Unthinkable in the fairly close future!
Rgds, Oldtimer
Hi OLDTIMER, nice to be back and thank you. I indeed have already started cooking up some plans that could, if properly executed, win the war. I just need to get my men trained back up to full strength and round out my force with a few key specialist units. And we need to retake the Middle East, both to give us access to the USSR and to open up the Mediterranean, both of which will be necessary if we want to win the war. Neither can happen until we stop the Middle Eastern Axis and Japan from overrunning India with sheer numbers, though. More on my plans in the near future.
The fact that Malaysia decided to not align with you is surely a sore point that needs to be rectified as soon as possible and with some urgency, since you need it as a back area for your fight in Siam. Those scattered brits also need to be addressed before they can do much damage, but in the end the ANZAC war machine looks to be in decent shape atleast for a regional fight with Japan followed by a regional fight with Germany and co
Are you going for Truk yourself or you are going to hope that the Americans will do all the dirty work, BTW? Truk is surely a dagger pointed to Australia and it definitely is something that needs to be solved before you can start moving north ...
At the moment I simply can't go for Truk myself. Forcing an engagement with the Japanese in their home territory is a bad idea, my Navy is nowhere near up to that task and even if the waters are clear, I simply don't have any Marines yet. If the US clears the area and finds itself unable to take the place, I'll muster up some kind of operation, but for the moment I have to hope that my island shields north of Australia (see my very first update for an example of the defensive positions there, which have only been strengthened since the last update) can keep the Japanese from moving south in numbers for awhile. If they attack the continent itself I'll rip them to pieces, so I'm not overly worried about that.
Brilliant, another update. And a great mood setter; this surely marks the end of the beginning and the time for the true fight against the axis powers to begin. I never imagined that the AAR would turn out quite like it has so far. Best of luck in tackling this seemingly insurmountable task.
Thank you! I agree that this has been the end of the beginning, and it has yet to be determined whether the beginning of the end will come as good or bad. I've got a big mountain ahead of me, but I suspect it's not unclimbable. I'm reasonably confident, for example, that I can knock Japan out of this war (I might not even need US help, if I was willing to use cheesy, abuseable game mechanics).
