Iran's navy is the weakest part of their armed forces and the whole game would be about shooting down small boats and Anti-ship missiles.Did I understood it right? 2030 and the next biggest navy in the world wont be included?
I mean, I understand Brazil wont be a part of it, but China which represents basically the next nato´s cold war rival, and will without a doubt, before 2030, be already sailling and demonstrating force within the melted ice waters of the Artic Circle. Whats the scenario then? Nato vs Russia again, when Russia is more and more playing on the same side as Nato. I wouldnt be surprised if anytime within the next decade, the russians decide to join Nato. So, Nato vs Iran?? Or maybe against North Korean´s kamikazi midget subs?
Also, I´m a little bit scared everytime you mention gameplay. I´ve never heard the name "Gameplay in front of Realism" anywhere close to Harpoon. I dont mind about tailwind max weight take offs and unsignificant details like that, but please dont tell me its a C&C style game with "Balanced Forces"!
I dont exactly agree, and here is why.when Russia is more and more playing on the same side as Nato. I wouldnt be surprised if anytime within the next decade, the russians decide to join Nato.
RedRalph: This is surely a mouse + keyboard game. I can't imagine how it would work with a joystick.
Nestorius: Surely we'll have as much realism we can feasibly make while keeping the game enjoyable.
Harpoon included platforms from all over the world, while we in this game concentrate on the arctic region. So, while there will be a good selection of modern platforms for these nations, it will not include e.g. Chinese or Brazilian units. Also, navies are reducing the number of different platforms available; look at how many different aircraft the F-35 is supposed to replace!
We'd want to have everything, but there are wishes, and there are budgets
A good thing is that more platforms, weapons and sensors can be constantly added to the game after launch, by us, yourself or other modders.
Good question. Missions (both scenarios and pvp) can have widely different areas, ranging from hunting subs in a fjord in Norway to the entire game map.Pardon my inability to understand, but with such a massive world and the projected size of navies in 2030 (not much bigger or even smaller) how are we going to fill the world with action? Are we going to have lots of scouting?! I like scouting. I'm just really worried their won't be enough action if I'm searching for enemies too often. I guess this question can wait...
Hello and welcome, Ian!Loved the Harpoon games and this looks interesting. How are you planning on preventing the problem that Fleet Commander had, basically it was an advanced game of Missile Command?
MythBusters! In comment to your geopolitical opinions, I can do no better than the great Adam Savage: I reject your reality and substitute my own!
Hello and welcome, Ian!
I think I understand what you mean. Most missions (most of those I played anyway) in FC places you in the thick of things, within range of all sorts of weapons. Three seconds in you detect your enemy and let your missiles fly in all directions, and just pray your defenses hold against the enemy missiles.
I think most of us would prefer a buildup where you control your order of battle and aircraft deployment before the action starts. In that way, a bit more like Harpoon, which played very differently for being the same subject matter.
That said, we'll probably make some scenarios which just let you go at it. I think we'll call them the "Missile Command" missions, in your honour But NWAC should give many more options than that!
That's exactly what we are planning. Thanks for your comments! For me i would like a dynamic campaign with multiple mission types, not just sink the enemy.
