Yes, but it's no use in speculating exactly how yet, because we don't know who will take over and what their style is.

We'll be able to discuss this in a few months I'll guess

Of course however, we could assume the new launcher change was pushed by whoevers taking over, considering how recently that happened.

So if that is the case, I'm not optimistic.

My guess is the new launcher came from above in an effort to standardise the front-end of the games. I don't think it had anything to do with the EU4 team.

To answer the OP: yes, things will change. But there's no knowing how just yet.

I hope so.

They'll continue with the European Update and the plans they have from that, anything else after that will probably be heavily influenced by whoever is chosen to be the new Lead. So speculation is pointless until we know who that is- and probably still pointless even when we know.

There are a lot of reasons why he could have quit. There are some jerks ragging on jake but you have no idea how much influence that he actually had on certain parts of the game. The dlc policy that people seem to hate is all paradox. I will admit that I used to dislike the estates but they grew on me. One of the things that I really don't like that is new is the ability to buy land from other countries for a trade region. I don't know who is to blame for that though. Anyway it is hard to say who will be in charge. I heard someone say groogy possibly. I only know this from watching dev clashes but that could possibly be a hint that more historical stuff will be put in the game. Glad that the people on here are nicer than this random you tuber that keeps showing up even though I block him that seemed like he was spiting in jakes face before he left. I actually learned of jakes departure because I saw his video due to the shocking title. Seriously that whole channel is like a hate club.

I do not think Game Designer is this all powerful entity. I do wish it was though.

I adore this franchise. If someone were to be foolish enough to bestow me that power, I would go full Civ, add victory types, and culture/artworks and all sorts of nonsense that I guarantee the majority of you would hate my guts for. I'd love to see the nation building turned into what is essentially crazy RPG builds, part of what I so like about watching exploiters like Jake and Florry in the first place.

Now, common sense would suggest that if I like Civ or RPGs that much, I should just play Civ or an RPG instead. Or make a mod in my own spare time and NOT allocate ridiculous amounts of other people's time and money to fulfill my personal fantasy. Not to mention to risk seriously upsetting the people who likes EUIV as is.

Dealing with that much responsibility isn't easy. You can't just decide years worth of labour and resources willy nilly. It's so much easier to make incremental changes for guaranteed profit than it's to gamble with major ones.

Jake did great. But if I saw a revolutionary maniac somehow convincing everyone to throw half the concepts into trash in the style of Stellaris, I'd still love to see that.

I really hope so. But probably one of his second in command (neondt or Groogy) will take the wheel, so EU4 will continue to go downhill. But I do really hope they bring someone new from the outside the current team, with another new fresh vision for the game.

The new launcher is being pushed due to PDX games being on a wider range of platforms than it used to (Plaza, Steam, GoG, Origin, etc).
It is safe to assume it is not a choice of a single game team, but a company wide-policy to save resources and development time by having a dedicated team dealing with it and cross-multiplayer on all those platforms.
It was lately pushed on Stellaris as well: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...4-0-lee-patch-released-checksum-2226.1257126/

I think the dev clashes are going to suffer here. Him and Chris are just too good together. And Jake has a better way of showing the crowd what’s happening on the map than most others.

I’d say from the grandest LAN the French Paradox and Sierrebere (Jesus Christ!) or however it’s spelled we’re a good team and I quite enjoyed their presentation When they streamed.

I have no idea what he was able to do and how he was constrained, but I blame him on recent changes in ideas, ..., and especially in conversions (and that they did not fix it throughout so many patches).
When he started I was full of optimism (previously watching his streams) that he will fix problems plaguing game since so long (e.g. natives), but during his reign old problems were not fixed and new appeared (like with governments).

I think this may signal that EU IV era is slowly coming to an end and that we'll soon start to hear about EU V. But how will this impact EU IV? Will have to wait and see. The DD's will be our first indication of the direction that the team will take.

I dont know what channel you talking about but if is what i thinking remember thats video was very respectful and he doesnt mean to joke

My greatest fear is that they will push EU4 to be more casual.
I really don't think there's much danger of this. Paradox's DLC structure incentivizes packing on more and more features which makes the game *more* complex, not less.

EU4 has a lot of problems but casualizing isn't one I'd worry about.
