For some reason when I play online now in Stellaris I'm having an issue with a friend joining my lobby. Like I have played Stellaris online since it first came out and put at least close to 1k hours into it and never had this issue. But now when he tries to join my lobby, he can't connect and it says it's a firewall issue. My firewall is turned off so that can't really be the issue. Should also be worth mention that I can't invite people through steam when I host a lobby. I can join him though, it just won't work the other way around.

Update: Something happen where i was unable to see any servers and I could not connect to him anymore, but then i relaunched the game and it was fixed.

Next time to go to play, both of you run the game up to the launcher only. Then both hit the Clear User Directory button at the same time.

If that doesn't help it probably is a firewall issue. make sure all players have opened the required Steam ports in all their active firewalls (each player may have up to 3)

Can you play CK2 or EU4 MP with this same friend okay?

Can either of you play Stellaris MP okay with any third person?

As for the Stellaris MP thing with a third person it does not work even with other people for me, but i can connect to them.
So you can join their games but they can't join yours?

If so this is almost certainly a firewall issue on your end. I have my suspicions that the Steam ports I gave you upthread may no longer be correct since the advent of non-Steam versions like GoG. I'll see if I can get more info on that.

I have no firewalls turned on though.
You may have up to three firewalls: any you've installed, Windows' own one, and one in your router/modem.

On top of that ISPs can block ports, and if you play from a company, university or government department they may too.

I'm still trying to find what ports the game uses now.
