Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Game hard locks after switching from headset to speakers

Can you replicate the issue?
Yes, just switch the audio device. replicating this also managed to lock my mouse requiring a full system reboot. this is the first this has happened. also provided an unrelated screen grab because ya know, I can't provide video for some weird reason when an issue like this can't be displayed in a still shot (also cant find my save files)

There have been other such reports here on this game, although I don't recall them leading to a hard lock, just a game crash.

Are you switching these devices by alt-tab out to Windows and do it in there, something like that?

Nope, my headset has a power switch so when I turn them off it auto-switches back to the desktop speakers and vice versa. No need for alt tabbing, find it convenient for a lot of games

Ah, right. I'm almost certain that is not something QA include in the test suite for this, or indeed any, game!
