So I dug up my old install disc. I was wondering if it should work with Win 10? It currently crashes when I launch it... I've disabled the intro movie (which played fine). It looks like it's a directx thing because of the message box that pops up.

Did you already try to run it in the compatibility mode of Windows 10?
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15078/windows-make-older-programs-compatible

If that doesn’t work you can download DirectX 9 from Microsoft. The older versions of DirectX are not all included in the newest version that comes with the newer operating systems and might be missed by a game
https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=34429

Yes compatibility mode tried and when it went to install DirectX 9 on the install it said a more recent version there so it didn't proceed.

You did not install the game in C:\Programs...?
Tried to run the game with administrator rights?
Which version of Windows did you try the compatibility mode with? Windows XP?

No I installed it in another drive.
Just tried that (Admin rights) didn't work
Compatibility with Win 98 and just tried again with XP

Here's the message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library

Well the game did run on Windows 98SE and Windows XP for me and as another poster mentioned in another thread on Windows 7.
Have you set the Windows 10 compatibility mode for the game
https://www.windows10forums.com/articles/compatibility-mode.7/
to use reduce colours to 16bit colours, too?
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2709723/change-color-depth-16bit-windows.html

And if that doesn’t help either possible options would be to disable the hardware accelleration of your graphics card
or to actually install an older version of DirectX. There can be several versions of DirectX installed on a system and usually that only means that older programs can use the version they expect.
