I have tried to get Stellaris to run the newest version of the game for a few months, now, and I can't get anything to work. I have tried hard and soft resets on the game, complete uninstallation and reinstallation of both the game and launcher files, updating the game and launcher to the most recent updates, manually passing the game through adblock, and attempting to run the game in fullscreen, borderless and windowed modes for every beta back to 2.3.3, and 2.3.3 is the last beta I can get to run. I have tried opting out of betas and that doesn't help, nor does disabling any or all of my purchased DLC. If there is anything that I am missing, please help. I am at the end of my rope with trying to get this program to work.

Your title says launcher failure yet all your text mentions game problems. Is it that you see the launcher okay but the game won't start from it? Or you never see our launcher?

What happens when you run stellaris.exe directly from Windows Explorer? Any Windows error show?

The launcher shows up, but whenever I try to run the game from the launcher, the game tries to start, fails immediately, then the launcher has a red triangle next to the play button that says game failed to launch. This happens when I try through Steam. If I try through the .exe file, the launcher never appears, just the screen that comes up when it tries to load and subsequently crashes. There are no windows error messages that appear when launching from Steam or the .exe file.

Ok, that seems clear it is not a launcher issue.

In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless.

IF that doesn't help, Has the game ever run successfully on this computer? Or never?

IF IT USED TO RUN:
Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

IF NEVER:
Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

(run dxsetup.exe after extracting from this download)

Add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Also if you have FRAPS or the MSI Gaming App or Rivatuner installed, disable it as it clashes with this game.

If that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log .

I already tried everything in this thread. I have tried to use all three graphic display options. I have done a soft uninstall via steam, and a full purge from my computer and tried a clean reinstall. The game runs on this pc in beta 2.3.3, but nothing after that. Stellaris is not blocked by any antivirus I have. I don't have FRAPS, MSIGA or Rivatuner.

Are you sure you did the clean reinstall as I described? Because that error.log really looks like a corrupted installation, or a bad mod in use. Make sure for these tests that all save games, mods, and user_empire_designs.txt are all our of the way while we work on this please.

The Windows error c06d007e that we see in that dxdiag is not one known to me. please go here:
And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

If that doesn't help, please run this Windows repair tool:
