Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Government is Xeno, fanatic pacifist with Inward perfection civic. Had rare psy research options so took the Transcendence Ascension path. Had genetically modified my race, but a new colony wasn't modified so I set them to modify after. While they final 6 pops were being modified I unlocked Transcendence. Immediately the modification failed, all but the currently modifying 6 pops were set to default alien status and began to purge, and the 6 left over were placed in a new species section (see screen shot).

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Would have to start a new game in full to reproduce as this is an ironman save
