Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Used a Mod only to test this issue:
COMBAT_DETECT_RANGE_MULT = 1.05 # Range to engage in combat with other ships is <fleets max attack range> * COMBAT_DETECT_RANGE_MULT

in particular fleets max attack range doesn't get affected by strike craft engagement range which costs fleets that have strike craft as their highest range weapon potential dmg. (Also it makes modding strikecraft a bitch)

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Use a fleet with Strike Craft as the highest range weapon
Optional : set Strike craft engagement range really high
