Name: Josef Koscilny
Born: September 29, 1865
Party: The Imperialists
House: Assembly
Birthplace: Prague

Josef Koscilny was born into a family of working classmen in Bohemia. Both his parents worked and lived in Prague. He had several siblings who all worked too; the family was just scraping by. Sadly, one of the siblings died from an accident. He was only 10 at the time, but this gave him inspiration and made it his life's desire to serve in the Reichstag. HIs goals? To try to reform and make life better for factory workers, giving them more rights, pay and benefits.

At 17 he married a Czech woman his age; a bit of a shock as her family was middle class and his family was working class. But it wasn't just a marriage, it was an opportunity, an opportunity for him to go to university and study. He stayed in Prague and studied philosophy. There he became more open-minded; he wasn't just restricted to thinking of how to reform the corrupt capitalistic ways of German labor.

But he also reflected on the bigger picture, What is more important?:

The great first rate power that is Germany? Or the people living in it that struggle to make-ends-meet? Make Germany more prosperous? Or better the environment of the working class? Was his siblings death one that could be preventable? Or did his sibling die for the greater good of the German manufacturing sector? Do the people deserve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Or do they deserve a powerful imperialist leader with great success?

When he finished his studies, he began his political career. With little experience, he was quickly gaining support making his way up the local levels of government. Before he knew it he was 26, but his goal still wasn't met. He still wanted to reach the Reichstag. He had to wait for the elections of 1898, though.

When they finally came, he won, and won by a landslide. Young leftist, workingclass Josef has finally reached his goal, but instead as rightist, imperialist Josef. Now is his time, his time to try to make Germany better.

((I saw this back in February and thought about joining and never did. I remembered this a week ago or so and I finally decided to join.))

((Working on latest Chief Historian update; did you guys know we have three Assembly persons from Munich alone? I think I might kick a couple people into the countryside near Munich...))

((EDIT: I have moved the two Assemblymen (Klaus Siekert and Friedrich Thiessen) to the outskirts of Munich. Siekert now represents Germering, and Thiessen now represents Freising, both of which are located not very far from Munich, which will remain represented by the new Reichsprasident, Eva von Vandenburg.))

I find it quite objectionable that Frau von Vandenburg has been allowed to retain her seat in the Reichstag while serving as Reichspräsidentin, as this violates constitutional law.

That was a minor error, sir.

((There is no limitation to the number of Assemblymen who could conceivably be from one area. After some internal discussions the Bundespartei has decided that I shall represent the party as leader once again.

-Herr Liberator

Noted. Thank you, Herr Meningen.

I request explain your goals for your term as president
alexander von smithereens

Reichspräsident Eva von Vandenburg forwards a copy of several of her campaign speeches to Herr Smithereens.

I will announce my intention to run for Reichpresident. The liberals have dominated politics for quite some time, although coalitions with the conservatives and socialists have and do exist. As Reichpresident, I can serve as a check on the liberal agenda if it gets out of hand, while my past history in the Reichstag shows that I will not obstruct the government simply for the sake of being obstructionist. A government should represent all its citizens, and its about time the Imperialists had some representation, even if only as Reichpresident.

- Eva von Vandenburg

I will, of course, vote for myself. A government must be balanced. If the liberals are allowed to stack all the positions, a significant portion of the population will be ignored. While I may be from a minority party on the far right, the Reichspresident is meant to be above politics. If elected, I intend to represent all fairly, whether they be supporters of the Imperialists, KPD, DDA, or any other party. I am willing to put aside petty party politics for the good of the German Republic.

- Eva von Vandenburg

I thank Herr Hohenzollern for withdrawing from the race. I know it was not an easy decision, but I truly think the government will be better served with him retaining the position of Chief of General Staff. I know that many may be against the idea of an Imperialist as Reichspresident, but the Reichspresident is by its very definition meant to be non-partisan. Why else would they be forced to give up their seat in the Reichstag and representation for their party. It is the role of the Reichspresident to ensure the government truly represents the people and maintains its mandate. I fully intend to do that. It would not be my place to use the position to force the Imperialist agenda on the government. As long as the ruling coalition represents a majority of the people and commits itself to the betterment of Germany, I will not interfere. Obstructionism is petty and only necessary when the decisions of the government threaten the German Republic. Let us all band together to ensure Germany remains proud and strong. Whether you are part of the KPD, DSU, DDA, DLP, Bundespartei, Conservatives, or Imperialists, it is your duty to serve Germany. Never forget that, for I surely will not.

- Eva von Vandenburg

I thank you all for your kind words and your votes. I know I was not perhaps the expected victor when this presidential race began, but I can assure you that I will carry out the duties of my office to my fullest. I can only hope that my time as Reichspräsident will be a prosperous one for Germany. I look forward to guiding Germany towards a future of cooperation, where all Germans of all creeds work in unison for the good of the Republic. And I can only hope that any future governments follow that example as well.

- Reichspräsident Eva von Vandenburg

((what the stability))

((Regarding your first question -- I will never unilaterally kick somebody out of the AAR unless they're breaking forum rules or being too disruptive. Inactive people will stay on the list but marked as such, which is our current system. I will, of course, kill off characters if they're inactive as need be. :)

I don't understand your second question.))
