when did this tart happening: after installing the overlord update

steps taken to solve the problem: deleted all user data of stellaris, reinstalled stellaris
Since I've installed the overlord update/patch the performance degrades very fast. The day before installing the update, I finished a run successfully in the game year 2500 (medium sized galaxy, AI opponents maxed out).
The late game performance was always lame/mediocre - you name it - but it was manageable.
Now the performance degrades so fast, that already at in game year 2250 the performance is so bad as I was used to in the late game (>2400).
I tried to play with small galaxy and only 3 AI opponents (lame) - performance degradation keeps the same.
I tried to tweak the game settings (Logistic Growth Ceiling, Growth Required Scaling) - but to no avail.
I really love this game - but now it is just unplayable.
